#Diagnosing aim technique issues

I have watched Lorys' tutorial on how to flick and I can say that the way I was doing it was wrong, I lost my explosive start and I was flowing between targets but moving faster than actually flicking, however I cannot tell if I'm currently doing it wrong or right, I have been marking lower scores and that is normal due to me rewiring the idea of how flicking worked and how I did it; I'm overflicking a lot

I was running 0.23 sensitivity VALORANT in Aim Labs but I noticed that it held me back from flicking and made them way too smooth and slow (I don't know what 0.23 VALORANT is in 360/cm) and I increased it to 0.3 however I feel like I lack control on this sensitivity due to the shakiness, I don't have a tight grip on my mouse and my hand and arm do not seem to be tensed.

I can drop 30 kills and maintain a positive K/D, thanks to my mechanics performing at their average or even their best. However, in the next game, my performance deteriorates, and I struggle to get more than 15 kills

There are tons of factors that can attribute to this.

  • It can be something related to your positioning, crosshair placement, etc. You will always play different opponents in every match thus your approach can never really be the same.

  • As you know, matchmaking is RNG. You will sometimes play against better players and sometimes against ones that are equal or worse than you. This of course impacts how your matches play out.

  • It could also be related to your focus. Make sure you take occasional breaks, given the longer you play in a single session, the more your focus deteriorates.

I stumbled across Voltaic a few months ago, and I started doing the benchmark, I personally thought that in maybe ~one month I would be able to peak Diamond/Jade but boy was I wrong

Everyone grows in a different pace. Diamon/jade in a month is honestly a little too optimistic. Some people usually take longer than that from the point you started.

Question though - which playlist(s) have you been training on?

0.23 calculates to 71cm/360 and 0.3 calculates to 54cm/360, which is quite a big jump.

To react to your VOD though - your flicks are what I would consider too fast. It is true that your flicks want to be fast/explosive, but I currently think you are pushing it way too hard for what your skill level can actually manage. You sometimes seem to stop for a 1 or few seconds in the middle of the run as if it looked like you are taking a "mini break" from doing it.

I would advise you to slow down your flicks a bit more. Keep them fast but at a more manageable pace. This will also help you with your shaky landings, given that you are currently trying to go from 100 to 0 speed in a flash, while you actually want your landing to be more of a deceleration rather than a hard-stop. Hard stops cause this shakiness.

You also want to work a bit on your pathing. At 0:36 you for instance keep flicking horizontally between the orbs that spawn there, while the 4 at the bottom would've been a better priority - you could chain from the top orb, to the lef-top orb all the way down, making it a more smoother chain-reaction than the left-to-right flicking you did instead.

There are occasional moments where you have these small decelerations, but they are mostly largly overshadowed by the harsh landings from the very harsh flicks.

I have noticed that over time when I get used my sensitivity it starts to feel very hard to control despite the fact that I have been using it for lets say two weeks or even three weeks, it starts to be shaky even if it is a low sens and makes it look like I'm playing on high sens

Another thing to mention is that my vertical mouse movement is a bit under-trained, it is currently one of my weaknesses as I have been playing CS and VALORANT only for the past ~two years or so, back when I was playing games such as Apex, OW or even Fortnite I wouldn't really have an issue with my vertical movement as I was actively training it due to how those games work, do you think that training static will fix that over time?

I personally would recommend you to play the fundamentals routine (#resources) or the VDIM routine:

LG56's Daily Improvement Guide
KovaaKs: https://bit.ly/LG56VDIM
Aimlab: https://bit.ly/VDIMdoc

Although DEMON1's routine is fine for mostly static/dynamic stuff and the RAMP is good for warming up, you are now mostly missing out on tracking-based content that will help you work on your smoothness. I recommend you to swap to either one of the above mentioned playlists and stick to those for a while. VDIM is more advised if you want to hard-target a specific category

#

All categories intertwine together, even if you don't use specific aim-categories in your main game. Always good to train those too 🙂

# uncut thorn Alright cheers for the advice, I really needed the opinion of someone else regar...

Sure thing! Just do allow yourself to adjust for a while to some of the playlists, i.e.: don't send daily updates given that you will likely not (always) see daily improvements and that is also not what you should expect anyway. Simultaneously, both improvements and general performance can differ a lot from day-to-day, so expect peaks and dips in your improvement and general performance. It is all normal.

So yeah, for static: apply the advise I gave you (take it a bit easier with your harsh flicks, and work on your pathing) and also consider exploring your training outside of the clicking-variations to work on other aspects of your aim 🙂

As I said before, your smoothness issue is more effectively trained but using a faster sens on tracking scenarios. Will feel odd and very shaky, but just keep pushing and it will slowly get better over time.

Just for reference, the common sens-ranges for each category are: fast for tracking (25-40), slow for static (40-100), medium for switching and dynamic (30-60).

Whatever you use is up to you, but do note that changing senses shifts which muscles you use in your arm + also approaches the way how you tackle scenarios, creating new challenges/issues and allowing you to improve on those. Significantly better way to work on mouse control than sticking to 1 sens. Your main sens (71cm/360) for instance will not work for tracking scenarios, given it is too slow to keep up with most of them.

from what i have heard from grandmasters they always says that you should just keep aim praccing and getting better and if you plateu then that means that you are most likely grounding out every bad habit and improving this can go on for a month or so pretty normal just keep on aim praccing and using the technique and you will see better and more consistent results also remember to keep your wrist rather relaxed so for your microadjustments idk i mention it sometimes since some people like to tense up when micro correcting

Yup, only a bit of tension should be applied to engage the flick. Then you need to relax for easier micros.

Tension should always be short bursts and not prolonged.

@rain bridge

Thought of trying intermediate, very inconsistent at the moment but hey I hit the plat peak in fiveshot static :)
