#Relaxing While Aiming

It is not okay.
95% of your aiming tasks should be done with a relaxed grip, and you only want to apply moderate tension for brief moments of stabilization/precision, like with flicking. You cannot properly flick without some form of tension for instance, but you want to relax right after to make micro corrections easier to do.
It will take some time and conscious effort to get rid of the habit.
One thing you can immediately apply is to re-bind your M1/shoot button to a keyboard key during smoothness tracking scenarios in Aimlabs/Kovaaks. This is however a temporary solution to give you a feel of how it feels like to aim with a relaxed grip. This should be binded back in a few weeks.
In terms of shoulder tension - It very well could be your are squeezing your arm muscles too much, but I just want to add that sitting too low at your desk, thus forcing you to shrug your shoulders a bit, can also add some tension there.
I think for the most part it is just a habit. I believe my set up fairly ergonomic. I just started using the keyboard to shoot for tracking. I appreciate the advice to keep this temporary. I think I might just entirely focus on relaxing during this next week of practice.
