Hi, I'm trying to upgrade my mousepad since the mousepad im using it for like 5 years but I cant decide between the Hien or the Otsu.
My sens is 28.5 CM/360. My main game is Rainbow Six siege and CSGO, from the reviews I've read they said they are pretty similar but the Hien have slightly different speed between the X and Y axis. Also does the softness matter or would they be pretty similiar and which one would be better?
#Artisan Hien vs Otsu and what softness

Whichever you like to choose + which base to pick comes down to preference. Both are great speedy pads. A few questions to ask yourself:
-
Do you consider the X/Y difference maybe to be a dealbreaker? (If yes, get the Otsu. If no/not sure, Hien is still an option).
-
Do you not mind a roughter texture? (If you do mind, get the Otsu. Hien is quite rough. If not, get the Otsu. It still has texture but perceivably less rough.)
Also do note that the Otsu might slow down quite a bit after a couple of weeks. Out of the box both pads are very fast, but my Otsu slowed down quite a bit. Not sure if the Hien has the same type of slowdown.
In terms of picking the base:
-
Do you want a bit more speed? Get the Mid-base. Do you want a bit more control by being able to push down into the pad? Then get either Soft or Xsoft.
-
Do you tend to be heavy-handed and/or push down a lot into the mousepad unintentionally during tense situations? Avoid Xsoft and get either Mid or Soft.
-
If you tend to not add any unnecessary pressure in general, Soft or Xsoft are good picks.
"Soft" is the safest option of the bases if you do not know what you want. "Mid" is the most "consistent" feeling if you are heavy-handed/push down a lot (or just in general). "Xsoft" is very comfortable/plush
I have otsu and read about hien. Despite the fact that artisan says otsu is better version of hien, I advise you to pick hien. Hien soft exactly. It is better in terms of durability, it lasts a lot longer than otsu. X/Y difference is negligible, nothing you can't adapt to at the very least. Just pick soft, u will not get wrong.
I d recommend you also look into raiden pads, ppl say its underrated but I dont know about its durability. All I know is that hien is the most durable one. Otsu is good but hien is more cost effective
thanks for the advices, I'm gonna go get a hien from the shop tomorrow since I prefer my mousepad to be durable
Don't forget to get some microfibre cloth and arm sleeve
Hien is pretty rough for a skin. Wine red is beautiful avoid any marks, dont put anything on ur artisan pad
Does any armsleeves work or do I need to get specific ones? And I assume the microfiber cloth is for cleaning the pad?
This is otsu wine red. Hien i think is a little bit deeper
People recommend pulsar sleeve. There was a thread about sleeves, i personally don't know. Microfiber for daily cleaning yes
that does look nice, thanks for the tips
I put my headset on my pad on the 2nd day of use and it left oily marks. Dont repeat my mistakes, dont put anything on it. I am still crying 1month later
just got it
