#Do you think that a habit of changing grips mid-task (or whatever you call it) is bad?

Recently I noticed that I'm constantly changing my grip while doing any kind of task. For example: when I'm playing tasks like AL VT Sixshot or Kovaak's VT 1w5ts (basically static tasks) when I have to do further movements with my mouse, like further flicks, sometimes some targets will spawn next to each other and I am using palm grip but as I was saying, when I have to flick further I change my grip to claw grip. Another example is on tracking scenarios. For example: AL VT Suavetrack or Kovaak's VT Smoothbot makes me bend my pointing finger (ligament in the finger or however you call it) and I press m1 harder (it's not like im tensing my whole hand but mostly just the finger) and it feels kinda like tip grip or claw grip (probably claw grip because on static tasks it's claw grip for sure). My theory is that because of the fact that I am mostly using my wrist because most of my arm all the way to the elbow is lying on arm of my chair and that my sens is lower than it should be (valorant 0.78, 400 dpi, 41cm/360deg) I have limited movements and I subconsciously try to make said movements easier but then I lose on precision and especially on static I lose on getting perfect flicks. Ty for any answers in advance.

I think if this is something you can do in-game, and it makes you aim better than it's actually a good thing

#

I don't think it's entirely uncommon to be a bit more flexible with it

Plus his cm/360 is quite low, so it should really be expected for this type of loose handed experimentation to come through and help him improve. I agree as I used to do something similar when I was really little and my hands were smaller meaning my relative cm/360 was lower compared to today.

Ty for all the answers, I'll keep em in mind and still try to figure it out by myself 👍

ye but as I said I sometimes lose precision and ability to aim in perfect straight lines from one traget to another but I'm not sure if it is just a train-more thing and I could overcome this problem and make this useful or if I can already see a problem with it I should just change something. And yes I can do it in-game, it is a habit, feels like muscle memory both in aim training and in-game

I feel you, thats what Im trying to figure out, if theres a possibility to make it better or if its just bad ;/

#

(and probably there is a possibility to make it better BUT idk if its worth it, I understand that everyone has to play like they want and these things are of personal preference but I want to understand if its just optimal u know)

but yes you will get much closer to aiming properly if you just practice more

that makes sense ;p ty again

Exactly, but the best way to strive for "perfection" is to try to focus on getting your mouse (by any means) to from one target to the next target as fast as humanly possible and immediately have just as perfect small-aiming or tracking as you had when you were aiming at the first target. I remember when I was little and used to switch between holding my mouse with my finger tips and then nearly palming my mouse, and I can confidently say, with practice and time you will strike a balance and either find something more consistent, or better yet, perfect what you have in using all of those grip styles.
