dead on arrival unless they make some major changes. The light/medium/heavy route is a terrible idea, it'll make guns impossible to balance and force cheese strats. The movement being server side makes the game near unplayable, it's janky, inconsistent, and delayed. Just trying to look over an edge of a building is almost impossible, you don't have enough precision in your movement due to the delay.

It feels like the entire game is focused around cheesy tactics instead of aim skill, ex, invisible + instakill backstab, 2 mediums healbotting a heavy, and heavy itself is just obscene amount of explosives, such as RPGs, zero skill, extreme effectiveness. A common strat less than a day into the game was for a heavy to just jump next to you and shoot an RPG at their feet, they would survive easily and you would die or have 10 HP left. There's no attachments or customizations on the guns, either, which really sucks. It's all iron sights, which isn't the end of the world, but target visibility is awful, worse than apex, visual clutter is immense and makes it impossible to actually see your opponents in many cases, and combined with iron sights makes aiming shitty and not fun.

They have some good ideas, but I've personally never gotten bored that fast with an FPS, which is especially concerning because fundamentally that sort of FPS(long TTK, movement based) is something I really love. I think it's over reliance on cheese skills/explosives instead of aim and gunplay along with the movement being clunky ruin the game. Even after just 2 days, players resorted to hard cheese strats and I basically never got into gunfights, it was all trying to chase around invisible light players or running into heavies who cheese with explosives, or mediums triple stacking 3 turrets(which take 1.5 magazines to kill). I think it has the potential to be really big, but they have to move the focus away from cheesy bullshit to skillful gunplay.

That being said, they do some absolutely revolutionary stuff, as well. The destruction is like nothing you've ever seen, and while the movement is clunky due to being server side, if adjusted it would be just as good as Apex, if not better. I'm not a big graphics guy, but they are phenomenal even on lowest settings, if they can clean up the visual clutter and improve performance it would be one of the best looking FPS games on the market.

But they have to completely redo their abilities and stuff. Get rid of light/medium/heavy(keep only medium) and put a bigger focus on guns and gunplay, with abilities being more utility and/or movement based, not dumb cheese like RPGs that 1hko or nearly 1hko or stealth with instakill backstabs, or turrets which have so much health it takes you longer to deal with them than it would to just kill 3 players in a straight gunfight.

I’ve played for a few days, I like it so far. Yeah movement kinda jank but the destruction is on point and the ttk is just right for me. Wish we could turn down the hitsounds, it’s pretty loud in the mix. Also binding keys has been somewhat of an issue, like it doesn’t really follow for some buttons and it still remembers old keybinds? Weird. Also I dunno if voice chat works or not, and they really need to add a push to talk button. Prox chat would be pretty funny too ngl

The carbine repeater feels so good to use dude. Gets me weak in the knees. Also melts heavies.

As for the “cheese”, I don’t really mind it tbh. There’s more to an fps than just shooty shooty bang bang, and seeing a bunch of different team comps and strategies is pretty cool imo. I don’t feel cheated out of kills or like the game is unfair, and thank fuck it’s not a BR man. You respawn after a time or can get rez’ed and you’re back in it.

Like, I’m used to heavies being buffed to the max and having to focus to take him out, as well as invisible backstabbing assassins. I play tf2 as my main game so that’s pretty much the norm, just turn around every couple of seconds for situational awareness in general.

maybe its because my computer is too bad to run above 50 fps but the movement felt horrible and some of the guns were really bad

#

like the silenced pistol ttk for light class is very high but the revolver for the medium class shreds

The game is back in beta again. I now got an access code compared to last time. Lets see how it is.

#

that was like, the single worst thing about that game, I literally could not see a thing

frail fox
#

I am not sure how bad it was in the first runthrough, but so far I cant say I am realyl struggling with it ATM

severe lion
#

it made apex legends at it's worst look like cs:go

#

in terms of visual clarity

#

the "heat vision" would blind you, the bloom was immense. Any fire was so bright it would white out half your screen

#

iron sights were pretty bulky as well nd there was a ton of dust and particles, and ofc the light class could go invis so all that crap made them visually impossible to spot, even though they were easy to spot in isolated environments

#

Performance is still pretty abysmal I can tell.

Everything on low + FSR2 on balanced and I sit around 70 FPS at best at 1080p with a Ryzen 5600 and 6600XT

severe lion
#

that doesn't surprise me, performance usually sucks for games nowadays lul

#

the optimization tends to be the last step you do in development, but it seems devs just started skipping it altogether

#

and hope their players have good enough PCs to run it like it is, whether that's 60 or 120 fps

#

really frustrating

frail fox
#

It really is. I mean, it is playable for sure, but the occasional dips make it frustrating and I do notice a tiny bit of "input lag" cause of it

#

The game's core concept is super cool though. I dig it

severe lion
#

i love the destruction and stuff, but what ruined it for me were the light/medium/heavy classes feeling massively cheesy and the absurd level of visual clutter. It felt less like an FPS and more like hide and seek and hope you don't get killed by lame, cheesy tactics

#

It seemed like the actual shooting part of the game was filler, like shooting was actually a secondary way of playing after using your abilities/environment to kill

#

instead of being primarily a shooter, with interesting ways of using the environment which is what I was hoping

frail fox
#

Yeah I have a very odd feeling around some of the shooting mechanics in the game, mainly given that the TTK is incredibly high even on the light/medium classes.

I am not saying that the TTK should be exponentially faster, but I do feel like the light-class is at quite a disadvantage if it wasn't for its extra movement. I have a hard time winning plenty of gunfights with it unless I can sneak up on them and don't miss a single bullet.

well, 3080ti and R7 5800x but the same idea

#

same performance regardless of if I'm on DLAA or DLSS on any mode

#

the performance may actually be worse than the last time I played it in March

#

First game in today after playing fine in the practice range, suddenly my LMB doesn't work (for the game).

#

back to range, works just fine, we'll see if it happens again in-match.

#

yep, same glitch...

I believe that bug was also present in the first beta

game performs ok

#

but bad relative to other games

It was fun but the graphics were horrid because of the clutter on the screen

I'd say once they fix performance issues and balance few weapons it should be fine. The game is targeted towards more casual'ish audience in my opinion, but the game is fun. Able to destroy objects/walls/buildings is very interesting. Having different setups for each class is also pretty nice to have. Game just feels pretty "fresh" compared to other games out there, which is not a bad thing at all.

It's just annoying when people expect new games to feel and be like games they used to play. Takes like "game needs faster TTK" is not gonna happen.

Opinions are fine but saying things like "this game isn't like X therefore it's bad" are just in my opinion not valid takes.

bit late bit really boring

I had fun at first, got to D4 pretty easily, but its just not competitive enough. There are too many skillless combos and gadgets that run meta right now (nukes, invis + stun, recon, defib). Most of the top 500 (pretty much all of the top 10) are not mechanically different from most decent players just they stack and play so many hours of the game (applies to all of ranked as well)

Interesting. Admittedly, it's been quite some time since I last played The Finals, but I thought they might've fixed some of those things by now, I eyed the game and thought I should give it another go soon, but it's sounding like I should probably just hold off on it for now until some more time passes for those balancing changes to take place.

foggy marsh

It looked fun but the reality was just sad. Walking minutes trying to find a way into action and then dying simply because the enemy had more max hp

I remember when in the closed Beta, it's fun but holy the game perfomance quite bad & the hitreg issue with an insane movement, it's so fast and unbalanced with all the class given.

#

Today, they fixed most of that & the game is somewhat balanced but not for competitive I would say?
