Reading is taking note and collecting a memory of movement patterns, strategic patterns, or fighting patterns an opponent or opponents have made in the past and using past knowledge to “read” into your current opponent and guess his next move before he even starts to do it so that you can make your move before the opponent begins to make the move you already predicted they would make. This includes using knowledge about the opponent you are currently fighting based off of patterns you have seen your opponent make even within the very fight/battle/match you are fighting him in or just common patterns you’ve seen in the past. In tac shooters the equivalent would be setting up with a heavier focus on one site expecting the enemy to go there and switching based on evidence provided like sound cues based on what you know the enemy has done in the past, as well as something as simple as prefiring positions you know they are likely to play. Reading always comes with risk, but the payoff is also very rewarding in being right. The equivalent to reading in tracking is to start moving left with your aim just before you predict the opponent were to start moving left so that your left aiming movement matches perfectly on time with their movement to your left and you end up doing a lot of damage when the enemy least expects you to since you tracked them on a direction change instead of reacting to the direction change. Some people say reading is them “knowing” what you’ll do next based on previous patterns, but you will never 100% know what your enemy is going to do, to think that you could is an arrogant lie and always gets you killed for thinking so.
