Playing pve is fine to learn the maps, how the quests work, and what items are good. The biggest thing is you won't learn how to play against other players. Pathing, rotations, contact points, spots to check, etc.

I think the perma wipes are it. They're not gonna separate the player base further with a different queue for seasonal and permanent characters according to reddit, which makes sense to me.

What's interesting about tarkov is player scavs and PMCs, as they're never the same. I'd say if you understand what people want to do playing vs real people isn't that hard.
