the streamers that made it popular were idiots and described it incorrectly, by saying "it changes lighting", which is bullshit and factually incorrect
then the people claiming it's cheating, because they are dipshits and didn't realize it was just a colour filter that one guy made and shared
and then BSGs response to... a colour filter
in practice, it's no different than just changing the colour on your monitor, in nvidia control panel, or windows, or applying postFX.
If I screenshot my settings and share them, and you copy them, that's effectively all this program did. It did nothing to lighting, it was just adjusting colors/gamma/brightness like every single person already does, but to a preset that one guy made and shared and with a program that made the profiles easier to manage, instead of doing it manually.

You might be able to have fun learning it, but once you have an understanding of the basics and start digging deeper, you'll quickly realize that every single fight you take is compromised either by bugs, netcode, or the opponent is cheating, which quickly just completely saps any enjoyment out of it

In all likelihood they actually want a good portion to fully quit. Anyone who wants to play Tarkov already owns it, so they arent making anymore money but will be bleeding costs as time goes on for development and server costs. It would actually be in their best interest for the current playerbase to leave as they could scale down the number of servers.

Tasteful weapon camos or clothing as microtransactions would have made more sense but who knows. Maybe that takes too much time compared to nuking your reputation with the community and with how big this got, people outside of the tarkov community too.
