In this case it's good for when bots change depth, if you have a problem with over adjusting to the point where you fall on the other edge of the bot. Pushing some of your momentum diagonal is pretty much the perfect counter to this (I'm saying this like it's a MOBA)

Hizku does this as well which he's the one that started it but he doesn't continue that diagonal motion up and down the target The same way I do. He pretty much stops after his initial adjustment back to the Target
