Yeah, 128 players is the cause of multiple issues: performance from the AI, map size and lack of flow, hit detection and other server anomalies, etc. Paring down the game to suit 64 players is better, even moreso now with dwindling player counts.

Yeah, spread means your optic will be on target but you'll still miss because the recoil isn't tied to the optic.
And while certain weapons will lean more to left or right, there's still enough randomness that you won't be able to consistently stay on target longer range with a spray.
If they're about to make cover, the best you can do is just control the vertical aspect and hope for the best, but if they're in the open then take your time and do smaller taps at a time.

Yeah, BF1 has terrible gunplay. I couldn't play more than 80 hours of BF1. Good maps, surprisingly good attention to detail, but the gameplay is just awful.
Turns out Sniper sweet spot, limb damage being the same as body shots, and a ton of random bullet deviation makes a game incredibly casual.

Yeah, it's basically minor tradeoffs between capacity, bullet speed, and bullet drop. So if you're doing longer range, then consider stuff with less drop/faster projectiles. Close range stuff look for rate of fire/capacity.

Make sure your mic is set to the default device everywhere, most games use the "default device" to determine what mic they pick up audio from. My best guess is that Battlefield is trying to get audio from a different source

I feel like the game modes that made BFH unique were ruined by design choices for unlocks. Hotwire was so good when you only used bullets and 40mm grenade launchers, and became way too boring as soon as you got the rpg trunk unlock.
Which sadly meant playing other game modes instead, which had significant problems like spawns. TDM spawns were absolutely atrocious and often spawned you in front of enemies.
Which is a shame because BFH had really fun gadgets.

Yeah, BF isn't a long TTK by any stretch, and the deaths feel faster than the TTK because of the servers as well. By the time you're even seeing shots you're probably close to dead on the server already.

bf1 has tons of bolt actions / SLRs that kill in 1 - 2 bullets, and then subguns that kill in 3 - 4

There's mouse stutter, if you don't cap your fps. Might be what you're feeling. You need to find what's your average fps and cap it there. Cause if it jumps up and down it makes your mouse movement feel laggy/stuttery.
