yeah knowing that theres a cost to healthcare makes it a lot less inviting..
sucks balls
perhaps i feel its just a waste of resources. im 20 btw.
moneys wasted all the time here, funneling that into mental health would be good.
yep
has depression or misery ever caused serious pain around the chest area and head? i have both, but its particularly painful in my head. it makes me just want to slam my forehead into a tree to knock myself out.
im not talking about having a head ache either, although it is my head that aches
Im not sure, but feels like it could happen
im also lonely. been very lonely for years now.
i feel like a male therapist who can understand me would be beneficial. someone who understands my struggles as a young man trying to make it in this world.
get therapy, sounds like its worth
i try to keep everything functional for kovaaks improvement, but i know im battling dysfunction in my mind. ive had some serious mental calamities that were sickening.
@sudden bramble
take some time off from aim training/games and focus on your health
how you do it is up to you, if you are 20 then you can make your own decisions
I appreciate the suggestion. But I love aim training and improving at my games so I’m going to keep playing. It’s a good escape for me.
You guys have pushed the therapist enough. Good job. I’m looking for someone now. I’ve decided perhaps I do deserve some hope.
Very good decision looking for a therapist
https://scottjeffrey.com/change-your-fixed-mindset/ Just found this today
Looks like it could be really helpful
awesome, remember that being physically healthy helps with mental health
@sudden bramble good luck man
I know. My physical health is in poor condition. I do the best I can, eat well and such.
Ty man. I'll give it a read once work is done
My shoulder has been in agony from aiming for months on end now...
I've tried different postures and I've just changed the part that hurts
I literally just want to play
If I sit such that my arm is right at my side, my chair gets in the way and also my wrist starts to hurt a lot
Normally my wrist doesn't hurt
My chair armrest keep me from getting close to my desk so I've removed them, but I really do like having my elbow floating
I've tried taking rest breaks but it always comes back immediately
(Like a week of rest)
@opal wigeon
This video can help with anyone who has shoulder pain with gaming or even neck pain. It helps to address some mid-back mobility and work on key muscles at the shoulder allowing us to maintain better overall shoulder positioning and relieve any pain associated with arm aiming.
0:51 ROUTINE STARTS HERE
0:54 Standing Open Books 1 Minute
1:54 Thora...
Been doing this myself and I've noticed a difference. Pace yourself, try this twice a day, morning before and after gaming to bed.
You should, and be both consistent and patient. Reduce how many hours you play if need be. Make sure you're getting enough sleep, too, as this will facilitate recovery. It's tough at first but believe me if you're determined, you'll escape it in no time.
how do I avoid getting tendonitis? and dont say "only play 1 hr" cos I have heard that a million times. is taking small breaks in between sessions beneficial? stretching? etc. thanks
I used the stretching document in #resources. really help to do some movement before starting to train. take breaks and take in plenty of water. and stretch once you are finished or muscle feels tired or slightly sore. Had nerve compression in my right arm and it has really helped to alleviate that as well
thanks
nah money is more important
hey guys I have a dull aching in my wrist anything to be worried about ?
i guess take a little rest from using ur mouse or keyboard
@last frigate how long should I take rest for? Until the pain is gone?
do u work
like do u use ur keyboard alot
its a comon pain for people who use the keyboard or mouse for a long time
u should go to a dotor they might give u something to help ur wrist
like a week ago I was doing heavy use(4hrs +).
oh dayum then yeah it will hurt
tbh discord isnt the best place to ask for health advice if ur pain is too serious then go to a doctor
if its a little and like if it just started
then rest for sometime
like dont work 4 hours continuesly
take breaks
Okk I’ll give it a few days and see if it gets any better than go to the doctor if it doesn’t. Ty for the advice!
no problem mate good luck i hope u get better
This might sound weird but I have a problem about certain muscles in my mouse arm activating when unnecessary and causing shakiness partially. One muscle I can feel do this is inside my biceps and the other is about 2-3 cm (1 inch) above my elbow joint, near triceps. Especially in scenarios with a lot of start and stop movement like static dots, target switching and even scenarios like Close Fast Strafes Invincible, these muscles loosely vibrate without my command, like it is a loose muscle or like a loose guitar string. I realize I can stop this loose feeling if I intentionally tense up those muscles just enough so that they remain engaged at all times; but then it is quite tiring on my arm. Has anyone ever had such problems or is there even a name for this? Thanks a lot in advance for any answer.
anyone have some good stretches for trigger finger. I think I have gotten it on my left middle finger (w key finger), at the moment it hasnt started to lock up yet, but I hear it crack after like 10-15 sec whenever I bend my finger, not unbending so still not sure if its trigger finger or not. If it isnt trigger finger or something else you know, pls tell me
Everyday after my train my wrist is fatigued, but next day it is normal. Should I be worried or is it normal?
Try using less grip pressure. I get fatigued if I tense up but can play for longer if I focus on staying relaxed
Sure, at first it was the case, now I'm not tensing up that much, but still, I play a lot
So I'm worried about it
If you're unsure I would recommend rest for a few days or even a week
Also not tensing up is relative
It also depends on what scenarios you're doing
I've been grinding smoothbot and I perform way better when I'm so relaxed it's like I'm not even playing
If I do Air Voltaic I can relax my hand but my arm and shoulder get tense from trying to react
So I did the exercise last night and today, and I feel a lot looser, a good number of the stretches really targeted some tight muscles. I don't feel perfect yet but I'm going to keep it up and see how it impacts me longer term
The stretches hurt so good
Give it a few weeks. Don't feel discouraged by days in between where it returns. It happens. Consistency is key.
Very.
Stretching and warming up.
I advise you to do 1hp's mouse control warm up, too.
It does target shoulder warming methods as well, so that'd be good to do in the morning.
hi
guys i struggle to close my hand
and some fingers vibrate
middle finger and thumb and index
and i feel pain when i try to close it, and i struggle and cant do it
i am scared rn, i wanted to start career in pro play
I'm not getting like wrist pain where it hurts but instead like some sort of static shock feelings like some nerve damage or some shit
tips on how to deal with anger
can't seem to control my anger and it just gets loose to the point where i have this constant urge of wanting to break something
skill issue
thanks for the tip
Whenever I’d be tempted to complain on mic or shit on my teammates growing up on Xbox I would think of something to call out that was useful instead. Focus on improvement
@peak monolith I always tell myself that it's just a game and that getting angry doesn't help
Also try and watch chill streamers like aceu, beaulo, shroud since they are pretty cool headed
Listen to your favourite music
It's a lot about mindset and being able to rationalize your emotions
get yourself a dedicated wall to punch holes in
Guys, do you think it is normal to get extremely tired after only 6-7 hours of gaming? At the point that I can barely play and be trash
seems very normal 😄 Be sure to take enough breaks if you play for that long
Thx, I usually play 10-12 hours
Not Kovaak only of course
1h Kovaak and then fortnite
Especially so if you're diet is garbage and you don't exercise.
Ah yes, I definitely need to improve my diet
@open ivy I have tried stretches provided here but I don't feel any difference
like if my wrist is in pain and when i do the stretch its just feels the same
Hey @sand vale thanks for the tag. While stretches can provide temporary relief they may not address the underlying issue which is often one of what we call the big 3
- Posture / Ergonomics - how you hold the mouse and sit have an influence on the length and function of the muscles you are using when you game.
- Wrist Conditioning - based on where you feel the discomfort, certain muscle groups may not have the capacity to handle the repeated stress of gaming for extended periods of time (maybe without breaks). The muscles need to have enough endurance to handle the repeated stress
- Lifestyle & Scheduling - You can better posture / ergonomics, increased endurance but if you game for 8 hrs daily or at a the volume (amount of hours) that irritated the tissues in the first place, you will likely not see progress. We need to take intentional breaks and gradually increase load while we are working on the conditioning of our wrists/hand
I'm not sure which exercises you are referencing but a good place to start to determine what endurance based exercises you can do is the 7-science-based wrist exercises video
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JoedUZ4OpPY
It highlights exercises based on the region of pain and muscle groups.
So what I would recommend for you and for anyone who is experiencing pain is take steps to address the big 3
- Address your posture / ergonomic contributors to pain
- Develop a consistent wrist/hand conditioning program
- Stretch regularly BETWEEN games, gradually work up your gaming time (temporarily cut back so you can build it up) to be considerate of your load. And in general just exercise / move more 🙂
Wrist pain is by far the MOST common complaint I get when I work with pros and gamers. And the first thing they often encounter online are resources telling them to rest, brace, just do stretches! Sorry that’s not going to help in the LONG run. These are just methods for short-term relief. I’m Dr. Hwu and i’m the esports injury doctor and over t...
yoo thats a big reply, thanks for the good work on here you guys
❤️
Thanks for the information
Bloody amazing - the effort is appreciated. Great video.
So today it hurts to lift things with my right arm
how to quickly wake myself up in the morning, and get my brain to "warm up"?
I tried aim training a few minutes after waking up, but like, everything just moves slow
good idea
thats very weird @little jackal
mmm i know
cause this week i slept between 12-1 am till 8-9am
usual its 10:30-11:30 till 8-9
and i also woke up a hour ealier one daythis wek
and yesterday i got highscores on all my activities in my routine
plus i cracked 1000 highscore on 1w6ts today
and i noticed this happends kinda more often whne i dont sleep
also when i get to sleep in on friday nights i also play like shit almost every staurday
anyone got a short breakdown of basic nootropics and recommended dosages?
@little jackal idk but yh personally for me 10.5hrs is too much
Best nootropic? Cardio. Go jog.
anyone have advice on fixing sleeping pattern
i've been sleeping at 4am and waking up at 2pm lately
can't seem to fix it no matter what
even though I already tried to pull an all nighter to fix and sleep early I never get to sleep early like all my drowsiness disappears at night
get a loud alarm clock and stop pc/phone use 30min-1hr before sleeping
stick to the schedule for a few weeks no matter how you feel
and if you dont do anything physical during your daily routine then do some light exercise, 20min walk whatever just do something
Cardio aids REM sleep.
thanks i'll try this out since school is over and i don't get stressed physically and mentally rn
this part of my fore arm hurts when i do
this stretch
what should i do
@open ivy
Its the opposite - those that's typically the origin of the flexor muscles so the stretch would be into "extension" or palm-up
and you want to be strengthening the flexors with the DB exercise, palm facing up
alright thanks for helping me out again
I have a problem with my wrist when i need to do very fast left right tracking movements with my wrist after some time it starts feeling weird like a spazzing(pulsating) muscle is there any way to stop it from my wrist doing that? (also i do the stretches from 1hps videos the 9 minute one)
So I am 35 and I have ADHD, not an excuse just a noticeable set back in my training. I am wondering if anyone else with ADHD has found ways to not lose focus while training. I am trying music but its the only thing I can think of.
Podcast
find scenarios you actually enjoy playing
Hi Vanta. The slowness after waking is called sleep intertia, which means reduced alertness and impaired cognitive performance. There are sleep inertia counter measures though. Exercise and light exposure may be helpful. CHeck out this paper to see more about the effect of exercise on sleep inertia - https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7155753/
thanks
You have what is called a delayed sleep pattern. This isn't necessarily a problem unless you need to be up before 2pm. Your best bet is to see a psychologist trained in behavioural sleep medicine. Bright light therapy + appropriately timed evening melatonin will help shift your sleep pattern earlier.
@supple flume so its fine to sleep that late just make sure i have enough hours of sleep?
Pretty much, but there are a few exceptions. The other consideration is your circadian rhythm (i.e., the natural peaks and lows of your body clock) and if/when you're competing. For example, for an average person who naturally wakes about 7am, there is a dip in alertness between about 2-4pm. Because you have a late sleep pattern, your dip would be later. Sometimes pro players who I work with have their dip right around the time they are competing, so we sometimes move their sleep pattern earlier to avoid that. Or, if you need to compete before 2pm, that would also be a problem. I know this is a fair bit to digest. Let me know if you want further info.
I see, are there any tips to move my sleep pattern earlier since rn it's getting worse and i slept at around 6am today (aside from getting a psychologist)
when you say “dip in alertness”, do you mean it as in reduced performance? and if i were to sleep at 12 and wake up around 9, would my “dip in alertness” be around 3-5?
Not recommending anything, just curious, what happens when you consume caffeine?
Interestingly enough it does calm me down. I depend on coffee for a good dose of it. Not joking. Makes no sense but I feel the most at peace with coffee
Yeah for sure, I drink coffee daily and I was diagnosed with ADD as a kid. I can grind KovaaK's for hours if I really wanted to. So maybe I have some sort of hyperfocus going on, which means what I say might not apply, so take it with a grain of salt. I've noticed green tea being really beneficial for something like this. I use matcha powder and mix it into some orange juice or water.
Thank you I will try it
Yep, dip in alertness can result in reduced performance (e.g., reaction time). And yes, your dip would be roughly between 3-5pm.
oh ok, i get it now. thx
Here's a good pic of what the circadian rhythm looks like:
For anyone interested in when peaks and troughs occur across a 24hr period. This is for an average person (roughly 11pm-7am)
can you explain the graph more? im a little confused
Sure, so time is across the bottom (x axis), starting at 12pm lunchtime. Alertness is/sleepiness is on the side (y axis). This rhythm happens everyday across a 24hr period. So there is a consistent pattern when you will naturally feel more or less alert. For an average person, you can see the dip around 2-4pm. Then there is a peak around 7pm. After that, melatonin is released and people see a rapid decline in alertness. The big dip around 5am typically occurs while you are asleep. but if you are awake for some reason at that time you will perform poorly. So for people who need to wake earlier than their natural wake up time to compete, that can be a real issue.
If anyone is interested in the science of the body clock check this paper out
what kind of reduction in reaction time could you expect at the lowest point of the trough
ok that is much more clearer. thank you
Also, here's a quick link to a sleep chat with myself and Dr Matt Hwu from a while back https://youtu.be/_LLUQu_nqOk

Hard to answer this (as in, put a specific number on it) is as there are multiple factors that combine to influence RT, not just the body clock. If i can find an appropriate reference that sums it up well I'll send it through.
makes sense thanks for the effort man!
No worries at all mate!
I need to try this actually, the only caffeine I drink is like monster/redbull
@supple flume can you still experience REM when you have a delayed sleep pattern?
if I sleep average midnight to 6:30-7:30 am but I’m really used to it to the point where I don’t even feel tired after 5 hours of sleep is this gonna impact my performance or not?
also when I try to get more sleep to see if I perform better I end up just waking up earlier and getting the same amount of sleep is this normal/is there any way around it?
@supple flume
Yep you sure do.
Sleep need differs just like height. Most teens need somewhere between 8-10hrs while most adults need somewhere between 7-9hrs. Of course though there are some people who need more or less than these ranges. If you meet your sleep need then performance will not be impacted. But sometimes, people get less than what they need and may not be aware of worse performance. In summary, always aim to get what you personally need and that will help boost your performance.
Thanks for the info
kind of an odd place to ask, but does anyone have any advice on growing their legs. I’ve been struggling regardless of the program I use
I need to give up caffeine man, I swear I’m addicted to it.
👍
Give it up
So hard to lol, I drink a ton of water, but I can’t stop drinking energy drinks.
is it cool to post a pic of my resting mouse hand/wrist position? not sure if its bad or not
My mouse is at an angle but my wrist is straight.dont have any pain.
usually just hold this wrist position, arm/finger aimer.
what measurements are your hands? dwarfing the viper ulti aint an easy feat lmao
idk i never thought i had big hands. when i palm it, my index and middle stick out a half inch to an inch
dont know if its jsut the angle but your hands look pretty big
Hey ! When I train my forearm and my shoulder are quite tensed and start to hurt a bit especially when I train static targets. Should I try to find a way to make this stop or is it normal ?
I reckon when you first start, these muscles will probably have a lot to endure, make sure to stretch/move them between exercises
At least, that was the case for me as well
Make sure you aren't holding your mouse too tightly
i beat my meat 10 times a day, i think its affecting my aim
makes it better ive heard
10 times a day
Calm down buckaroo
i did it to the samsung assistant
Your definitely not being serious..
HAVE YOU SEEN HER?
literally she got that jawline
them eyes
the hair silky
it look kinda dry though
but yeah im not being serious
i did it 11 times
Does depth perception have a big impact on aiming/hand to eye coordination
Overall looks quite good. Main point is if it isn't causing problems and it isn't obviously loading any particular structure - then no need to fix it.
Third finger is roughly in line with the midline of the lower arm for wrist ulna/radial deviation.
Hard to tell about wrist flexion/extension from the one picture.
A larger mouse might be more suitable.
hmm i just got this mouse fairly recently ill look into getting a bigger one after this one is done
thanks though. i dont think i have flexion/extension based on google
basically you dont want your hips to be too far back or too far forward.
try to be neutral
if you start by keeping your chest up its easier to get the rest down
dont round your spine too much in either direction basically
why does my right wrist pop when i do wrist circles but my left doesnt
^same what is causing this?
is it ok to aim train while stressed/frustrated?
or would my potential gains get affected
whats the reccomended height and distance to keep your monitor at?
Anyone give a percentage of how much slower you improve when u dont sleep enough
Can someone explain or link me some information about improvement and aiming? I'm curious about how it works. Is it more a Brain thing? or is it a muscular thing? do hand-eye coordenation is a thing? I want to learn more about it
Hey guys. I freak out too much and tense up a lot during pvp gaming. I cannot help it no matter how hard I try. As a result I get very poor decision making skill and very shaky aim. I thought aim training would help but after 600 hours of aim training, came to the realization that I need to work on my calmness. I built up this bad habit of assuming the worst, believing I will lose etc. and tense up immensely. I don't know if I can even break this habit at this point (I am 30 years old) but would like to try. However I need some pointers. What are some things I can try to fix my confidence issues. Thanks a lot in advance.
Hi guys, I'm getting back into aim training and I'm using the g Pro X superlight. However after quite a short amount of time my hands feel incredibly fatigued. Is that just me mismatching with the mouse grip or is this expected?
does feeling sleepy and having a hard time opening your eyes while doing tracking maps mean im sleep deprived?
are you andre the giant
those seem to be symptoms of being tired
no its just the angle. my hand is smaller than the avg adult lmao
stop caring about the outcome and just play.
you're fearing a certain outcome(i might miss this shot, i might die and feed etc). just stop caring about that and play. you're 30 as well lol games dont matter
if ur getting nervous due to other players just mute/hide chat
play a low stakes version of the game you play (e.g. DM) and pretend it's kovaaks, just calmly focus on your aim and pretend everyone else is a bot and dying doesn't matter
then go into a more serious version of the game and play with the same mindset
basically, break it up into manageable steps. if you just jump into comp and start tryharding, you can't expect to feel relaxed. you have to train yourself to be relaxed in those situations
once you get good at remaining relaxed, then start focusing on your gameplay while remaining relaxed
don't frame it as "tryharding". just do the best you can. it might be enough to get the result you want. it might not be. but the result isnt what matters. what matters is you did your best.
you're not able to relax because you care too much about what's going to happen in the future(the result of your play). focus on the present(your actual play rn).
I got a question about my wrist.whrn I do wrists circles. My right wrist always has a pop feeling and is sometimes audible. It doesn't hurt tho. The left wrist doesn't do it.
@little jackal Google
How many days a week should you work out for the most benefit? (Gym workout)
Also is it normal once you finish a long run to feel really dizzy and like your head is spinning rapidly (I have felt dizzy a lot recently and also extremely tired to the point I sleep through a lot of the day)
are you hydrating properly?
I drink about 7 pints of water a day (about 4 liters)
So I shouldn't be feeling dizzy after a run or is it normal?
Hm, okay thanks!
hey i actually researched a lot into this. dm me and we can talk on voice real quick
do you guys use your wrist often or elbow/forearm when aiming?
Forearm and wrist
Large movements with my forearm then adjustments with rist
Also when tracking I use my forearm
Idk if that's how you meant to do it but that's what I do naturally^
i use both my fingers, wrist, and forearm very often in aiming depending on what i need to do in the situation
the more you play, the more intuitive the concept is
forearm for large movements
wrist for smaller movements and adjustments
as well as fingers for vertical adjustments
thats what i do generally
Do you use fingers for all vertical movements or just the minor adjustments?
@onyx sphinx only for minor because i also use my forearm for vertical movement
itll depend on sens. if its higher you'll use more wrist/fingers. if its lower you use more arm. lower sens tends to be better for health because you dont have to use wrist as much.
can someone help me with focusing
for some reason i cant focus that much
and when i play a routine that should be only 1 hour
ends up being 2 hrs bc of how much i change tabs and lose focus
I'd remove any and all distractions as much as possible
It's also a mindset thing ig
it's like "you'd rather aim train than do anything else in this hour" kind of deal
Does anybody here have any advice for sleep disturbances? I'm sleeping at 11PM and waking up at 8am but the problem is that I'm waking up a lot in the middle of the night and I think that might be damaging my sleep/progress.
@violet swan try to go to sleep eariler - try not to look at a screen for around 40min before you sleep - if you are really desprate you can get medication like melatonin which helps with sleep
stiff neck
You might wanna check your vitamin D levels
I had same problem that got resolved after I did blood tests and start taking additional vitamins
any exercises in particular i can do for a stiff neck or should i just be taking a break from playing, i feel like im more tensed up then usual in kovaaks
does anyone know what could cause dizziness? like when i stand up i feel dizzy and sometimes when im just walking i feel like im going to faint, also in the past i got nosebleeds just from standing up and now i spend about 5 hours a day sleeping which in my opinion is a waste of my day if im sleeping at night
i thought it might be from stopping drinking coffee, so i started drinking it again but i would appreciate some help if anyone knows anything 🙂
i have a call with a doctor about something else in a few days i will mention it then i guess
thank you
My wrist is hurts a lot at the moment (right hand, mouse hand)
Whenever I do large movements with my mouse it just hurts so much
I think I gave myself tendinitis playing low sense with bad posture lol
was moving the mouse hard back and forth and now my shoulder is sore
and painful
rip
@lusty marsh @slender jungle look into trigger points. 80% of tendinitis symptoms are caused from trigger points. and you can cure yourself too, i did for mine
man im so tired. just like sleepy. this sleepiness is making it difficult to get through the day. i got 7 hours sleep 2 nights ago and 9 hours last time. im seriously tired and having trouble waking up 😦 could this be my depression?
How often do you exercise? How long are you sitting for when you get the dizzyness? How much processed food are you consuming? Are you staying hydrated?
do you know why you're waking up? Are you noticing any sort of discomfort like being too hot, a pain, etc.?
No not at all I feel discomfort but nothing specific and that leads me to wake up
do you snore?
It's happened after I changed my sleep schedule
no
any caffeine?
Very minimal maybe a can of coke in the afternoon
any other stimulants or supplements? Some supplements can have a stimulatory effect. I wouldn't expect a coke to disturb your sleep, but I think it's worth a shot to hold off and see if your sleep improves
i drink around 6-8 pints of water a day, im going to the gym about 5 times a week and running on the other two
Nope nothing else
ok sorry then
i barley eat processed food anymore
After I started sleeping at 11PM and waking up at 8am I started getting this issue
I would usually sleep at 12-1am before and wake up at 10-11am
It's fine no need to say sorry for nothing
Very nice. Would you say what you're experiencing is a head rush?
what do you mean by that?
Head rushes are caused by a rapid drop in your blood pressure when you stand up. Most people experience occasional head rushes, and they generally aren’t a cause for concern. However, if your head rushes occur often, it may be a sign of an underlying medical condition. Learn more about potential causes and prevention.
no
that seems to support the coke theory if you were going to sleep later
I was sure it was a head rush. Damn. Sorry then I don't know
oh wait
i read this wrong
yeah sounds like that
its happening quite often
It happens occasionally to most people. If it's happening a lot, then yeah definitely talk to the doctor about it. He'll probably ask you questions about your lifestyle
@sudden bramble it might be that you're not eating well enough
Have issues with brain fog.. feel like I am a god tier gamer when my brain is clear and an absolute shitter when I have brain fog. I am trying to work on my overall health (sleeping, eating, exercising) but was curious if anyone has done keto and would recommend..
Wim hoff
Yeah I used to be religious about Wim Hoff.. should def add in some cold showers and breathing again
You probably should add in some breathing
I have problems with my arm falling asleep, I used to play a buncha kovaaks but I would tense my arm and now my arm is tingling a bunch and sometimes it gets shaky as well. Is there anything I can do to help a lot with these. I can barely even play a game of val
Who’s about to link me
Stretches basically
Thats all I can think of
Or take a break
that sounds like some sort of nerve issues. Are you putting a lot of weight on your arm
specifically around the elbow?
my elbow is usually hanging off my desk
are you feeling the tingling specifically in your pinky/ring finger?
ok. I was just trying to rule out cubital tunnel. Does it feel tingly when you aren't gaming?
no
yeah it sounds like a postural thing or how you are positioning your arm. I personally would just take a break. Don't want to mess with nerve damage or anything. Also maybe changing how you're sitting and positioning your arms. A doctor would probably be able to help you better though because I don't know the exact cause
caffine good yah or nah?
It's only bad if you develop bad habits around it. The main concerns would be tons of empty calories from sugar/cream and negatively impacting your sleep. Also if you genetically can't handle it, then it's bad. Otherwise it's fine
so just black coffe is better? less empty calories? @vapid quail
Black coffee is better and drinking a small amount of coffee can have positive impacts.
@mystic charm ah ok thanks :)
Who needs coffee
A banana gives u more energy for the day than coffee
Or an apple i think
alright thank you
my aim has been significantly shaky both in kovaaks and in game all of a sudden. Although it seems like I'm smooth, it just feels like my forearm and hand has mini tremors or shakes and I can't control my mouse or move in the way I want to move my mouse.
been happening for the past 2 days even when playing a smoothness routine
@pallid cloak regarding what you said yesterday about brain fog, this is going to sound out there but try no masturbation and no porn for a lil bit.
@peak monolith have you tried massaging your arms
Taking a break for a few days might help
Yep, already on that last 2 weeks lol
Trying to just stop altogether
I think I got a bad gut though. Which causes fatigue. So looking into that
oh cool lol - i need to buy some lmao
Coffee is good
Caffeine is good

Green tea is so good
Quality energy drinks are excellent
Coffee might be good but tastes like trash
Caffeine is only bad if you are sensitive to it
Yeah probably
gotta get good beans or cold brew if its too bitter
I will try cold brewing some day
not for ur health
why don't u link us
its good in small amounts isnt it?
Caffeine is fine so long as you are a fast metabolizer
Although coffee is a widely used, pharmacologically active beverage, its impact on the cardiovascular system is controversial. To explore the effect of acute caffeine ingestion on brachial artery flow-mediated dilation (FMD) in subjects without coronary artery disease (CAD; controls) and patients wi …
Most gamers dont have the greatest motabolism
:(
I'm saying how muscles increase resting metabolism and a lot of gamers don't exercise as much as they should
i meant caffeine metabolism. Everyone has the genetics of either fast or slow metabolizers. If you are a slow metabolizer, it's actually really bad for you
ah
caffeine normally doesnt do anything to me
idk what it is
like i drink a whole mountain dew and feel the same
you're probably a fast metabolizer then and/or eat a lot of brassicas
I like to stay away from caffeine tho
that's fine. If you don't like it then you don't like it
idk why but like showers are like my caffeine, if i take a shower i become wide awake like even before bed or sum
even though for most it helps them sleep
i take hot showers also
i sleep better in the cold too
Not sure what could be causing that with the showers
as for sleeping better in the cold, that should be the case for everyone
your body has to drop temperature to go to sleep iirc
Idk if this is a bad thing, but i used to rely on melatonin to sleep, but finally got off of it. though, been using it to go to sleep since i fucked my sleep schedule and i have work lmao
my brother gets a lot of melatonin side effects like daytime drowsiness but i dont exhibit any of them as far as i know
i like the idea of taking melatonin to sync your circadian rhythm, like with jet lag or something. I wouldn't want to depend on it though, so that's good

Intake of coffee was associated with an increased risk of nonfatal MI only among individuals with slow caffeine metabolism, suggesting that caffeine plays a role in this association.
I got a question about my wrist.when I do wrists circles. My right wrist always has a poping feeling and is sometimes audible. It doesn't hurt tho. The left wrist doesn't do it. The popping is in the right side of my right wrist
It that normal?
can you describe the feeling more? Is it like a knuckle crack or a knee pop?
like in the bone
like if i do it on my left hand
i feel a pop in my left like
side
of my wrist
near the bone
pretty sure its normal
idk if it is what he is asking tho
it could be nothing or it could be an issue with cartilage or something. I think a doctor would be best though
dont have any wrist pain or any pain in general so no point imo
if it hurt to pop/crack it sure
Ya just caught me off guard ngl, it's not painful rn tho so I'll just ignore it
mine only does left
My left doesn't lol, it's weird
I've heard the opposite, that it can actually help with brain fog
Yep! Decreased body temperature is one of those external indicators that tells your brain it's time for sleep.
If it doesn't hurt, it's much less likely to be a problem. There's something called "crepitus", which is basically the normal grinding/creaking/popping noises joints can make. There's a few potential causes, all of which are normal--bubbles in the synovial fluid or tendon sliding across a bony prominence most commonly--but as long as there's no pain associated with it, it's not problematic.
You might want to see if a slightly different way of mobilizing your wrists, like wrist circles with your hands clasped or quadruped rocking, work better for you. One size does not fit all when it comes to mobility.
hey guys,i was wondering how to reduce wrist pain
it doesnt hurt very often but after hours of online classes and game session im left with my wrist feeling sore
what can i do to make it better??
Ive just started having some wrist pain particularly just below my thumb, a few days a go after I woke up it was sore and everytime i moved my thumb it was popping and then a few hours later the pain went away. Ive woke up this morning to the same pain, a bit more intense when moving my thumb or wrist. Just wondering what I can do to help this
Sorry if this is wrong thread, So I am realizing i lift my arm slightly subconsciously. And It has me thinking, Am I screwing with my consistency? I do have a pad and arm sleeve, just getting used to it, but I used to stick so much to mouse pad that i think its in my muscle memory to lift my arm. Which A tires me out, and B I think it is messing with my aim. Should I be concerned? Should I be trying to force my arm to stay on mouse pad fully <the lift isnt fully off the pad just enough to lessen the friction, which isnt really there anymore> Ideas?
how often should i be stretching. following the guide in resources it seems just before and after, but whats the play on off days? is it possible to stretch too much is what i guess im asking
@scenic peak lifting your arm is fine, because you're trying to reduc friction
Give this a try! It has both stretches and strengthening to get your wrist on the right track https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JoedUZ4OpPY&t=1s

This is a preference thing and more common for people who arm aim with a lower DPI. You can definitely play around with resting your arm on the table more but unless you are lifting your arm off the table a few inches constantly I would not be too worried about it.
We typically recommend 3 sets of 20-30 seconds a couple times a day. If you do anything hand-intensive then stretching after is a good idea. Overstretching is possible but to actually create a negative effect that you notice would take a large amount of stretching. We are talking holding a stretch for an hour or more in one sitting at least. And the negative effects would be something like an increased risk of sprain or strain. I.e. yes it is possible to stretch too much but it would be difficult to do so
Heya, this might be a really dumb question but how much would starting to go to the gym again affect my performance in gaming? they reopened today and was just kinda curious about it
Working out helps your brain work better. It depends on what kind of routine you follow but generally being more active is a good thing for your performance in game!
mainly going for building muscle with a bit of cardio rn
@ripe valve cheers doc
If you want to build up your wrists I would recommend giving this routine a try at home: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JoedUZ4OpPY&t=1s
If you wanted to work on your wrists in the gym doing dead hangs on a pullup bar are great. Building up some muscles and increasing your cardio capacity will only have a positive effect on your gaming.

Hi guys I have a question. It may sound weird but my fingers crack while doing most basic things like just straightening them. Like a lot. Is it normal? It is happening in nearly every part of my hand, wrist, fingers just all of it. Did something like this happen to anyone of you? I've noticed that it started after I've been doing wrist stretches and exercises before warmup.
ive got a question about my hands and wrist. Lately ive been having some tingling in the top of my hand. mostly in the middle and down to the wrist. I dont have any pain or numbness and my fingers have felt perfectly fine, it's just the top middle of my hand. Not really sure what this is and if somone knows and could help that would be great.
@ripe valve Hello, I was wondering what is the best chair to buy in the $200-$400 price range for ergonomics & health?
Should I move my monitor up close to my face or one arm away from me? I find it easier to hit targets when it’s close to my face but I’m trying to be more healthy
One arm away for sure
If your being healthy
You could seriously damage your eyes if you got it close, especially if you playing in a dark room or something
We've actually got an article on this! I might need to update the prices for this summer, but they should be roughly accurate.
Your monitor should be about the length of your hand+arm away from your face. If you're having trouble seeing things clearly, consider bias lighting or backlighting behind the monitors.
i have self diagnosed myself using google with distal bicep tendonitis
and it hurts every now and then when i move, and when i try to do curls ohhhhhh boy, cant do it
and its been like this for 4 months. i have purchased a brace....... but do i go to a Dr?
googling symptoms can often be harmful for your health. I would recommend seeing a doctor ASAP if it's really hurt.
You should go see a doctor. I am a doctor and I say you should go see a doctor

man all teh chairs I checked out from the 1hp list have gone up in price
was hoping to find a cheap one for my cousin
ikea markus is a good chair
actually how old is your cousin
it might be too big
it says that the markus is 110kg (242 lbs) max, so that won't work, sorry
how do i shave my ass hair looking for vids preferably
@lucid creek get a good quality razor and carefully just shave
I spent 2 months to grind to plat but maybe went a little overboard. Hands are numb & tingly and wrists/fingers hurt quite a bit. How long should I take off? A week?
Currently in wrist braces for both hands also.
take off until the pain and everything subsides completely and then figure out why it happened (like positioning, posture, pressure, etc.) and be better about it next time
also consider going to a doctor
because that sounds like nerve, tendon and potential joint issues
and you don't want to mess around with that
Probably pressure and extreme use. I was hitting Kovaaks like a mad man for 6 hours a day and apex for 10. Posture and positioning are A++ tho. nice 90 degree angles.
Thanks though, will see a doctor asap.
that's good. Once you're back in the swing of things, just be careful
@violet swan I play a lot of games and I play kovaaks pretty intensely, but that sounds like something is really wrong
Are you gripping too hard? Are you eating well?
Same
I played for around an hour of kovaaks a day with like 3 hours of apex and now I cant touch a mouse for more than 10 mins. I was cometely fine then one day I woke up and couldn't do anything. It's only been a week since it started
Ive read monitor should be at arm length. Does that mean ~100-120cm?
whats the reasoning that H&M chairs arent included?
They're great chairs and I absolutely recommend them. This article was about giving more budget-friendly options for folks who can't afford Herman Miller.
does anyone have wrist exercise
my wrist hurts asf
and dr levi stretches not working
doesnt really matter iirc as long as its not killing your posture and you look at a farther point every 20 minutes or so
dont take my word on that its just what ive heard
I corrected my sitting posture for my back but now I can’t seem to grip my mouse comfortably. Is there a correlation or am I just losing my mind?
if it's an easy switch, can't you just adopt your old posture for 1 minute and test it?
Hi, why do my shoulder always tensed/feel like it tense up when im aiming?
I already relaxed my forearm grip and fingers but the shoulder wont stop tensing
is it because of the table height?
How long does it take muscle memory to catch up to a sens change
it should be pretty quick to adjust. Even faster if you are already good with a mouse
Ty!
Im guessing this is pretty common
well anyway
My shoulder starts to hurt the more I game
but my posture is generally pretty good
I heard someone tell me that this is because my elbow is hanging of the table
but if I was to place my whole forearm on the table
I would be slouching
any advice is welcome
oh also my chair doesnt have arm rests
is it the muscle itself hurting or like the joints? I don't like putting the full forearm on the table because of potential cubital tunnel issues
because then you lean on your elbow and your ulnar nerve is right there
if it's the muscle, I would just do some shoulder work
seems to be the easiest fix
shoulder press is the best if you want to just do one exercise
but I wouldn't recommend that
for imbalance purposes
probably shoulder press and some face pulls/reverse fly depending on the equipment you have access to.
actually maybe even just side lateral raises will fix your problem depending on how you position your arm
and you can't get an imbalance from just doing side delt work really
what part of your shoulder is hurting if it is the muscles?
do you have access to dumbbells or resistance bands?
easiest way to tell what's causing the pain is if you just do some side raises and see if it feels the same
yeah I do i actually exercise pretty often
also when you do the side raises, try to keep a neutral position, don't rotate your arms forward
although mostly aerobic stuff
that's still really good
so yeah if it is the muscle, I'd go with some combination of shoulder strengthening exercises
hope that's the problem because it's an easy fix
Does anyone have trouble keeping one eye open while the other is closed?
can someone send me good wrist exercise please
dr levi is not helpfully on wrist :/
We've got a whole playlist of good wrist exercises!

Shaky hands while in aimlabs any fix?
ty
still worth training even if i slept for only 6 hours?
It's worth taking a nap, sleep is extremely important but yeah feel free to train still.
Hi im having trouble with my thumb every time i rotate it it starts to click then eventually it stops clicking
Why is the shaking happening? Is it anxiety or grip related?
It won't be as effective but will still make a difference
Is it painful?
not really
don't tense as much and train more thats what done it for me and maybe your sens it too high
Our rule is if it clicks but not painful then don't worry about it. If it does still bug you then stretching and strengthening the thumb can help
thanks
Serious question, has semen retention/nofap affected anyone’s play here? How do you perform when horny?
Probably grip related
thanks man il try that out
If that is the case then put aside some time during your aim training to just focus on relaxing your hand while going through a scenario. I don't care about your speed or accuracy. All I want is a relaxed grip and smooth motions. 30 minutes every day and I promise your shaking will go down.
what monitor height/distance/angle is best for posture?
@runic zealot for games bro i think it matters. Just make sure your awake.
General guideline: about 12-18 inches away from your face (roughly the distance of your hand + your arm), top of the monitor level with somewhere between your eyebrows and the top of your head.
As far as angle, it really depends on if you've got multiple monitors or not
Ideally, right in front of you is best.
If you've got two monitors, you'll want to be able to turn your chair slightly so you're not having to hold your neck/head turned to one side as much
How bad would it be if I just ate a roll kebab as lunch and nothing else during the day?
It depends on what you're doing during the day. The more physically/mentally intensive your tasks are, the worse 🤷♂️ Just be mindful of when to eat
Like if that's the only thing you ate the entire day? If you only do it once in a while, it's not significant enough to have an ill effect on your body. It's about what you do the majority of the time. So as long as you're getting in tons of vegetables and some fruit on your other days, you should be fine.
My hand or more like the hand(upper palm area) to the wrist and a bit of the forearm seem to get tired after couple hours of playing. I can't really pinpoint why this is happening. Anyone experienced something similar and managed to fix it?
Cause I have not experienced something like this before in all my years of playing games
maybe lack of sleep?
I sleep from 8-9pm to 5am every single day(even weekends) . The only thing I can think of maybe it's the mouse I'm using then that's causing it
Currently been using GPW for about 3 weeks. and I got around 17.8 x 9.2cm hand. Though my grip style is kind of relaxed claw/palm with my pinky dragging straightened on the pad.
maybe try out some different grips to experiment with or if that does not work try maybe change sens to low or high cause maybe youre arm cant really play on one of them
im not a profesional in anyway but i just say what worked for me
and maybe wil for you
I seem to be wrist dominant.. but yeah been on around 49.48cm/360 in OW. I have been training at 27cm in kovaak's though. Well yeah might be just the sensitivity too, but I just seem to aim the best with 49cm in-game right now.
I've tested different grip styles before, but they kinda tire out my umm tendons?
if different grips dont work then just stay on the one you feel comfortable playing with
Ayeh. I don't feel discomfort using GPW, but I feel like it's not the comfiest mouse. Then again I do not feel like paying 80€ for Zowie ZA12-B .
I guess I could take now just 15-20 minute break and then just change my sensitivity to same as in kovaak's which is 27cm to see if my hand and forearm gets as tired.
Just wondering what causes the sudden tiredness, when I've stretched and warmed up before even playing :c
i had that alot on low sens but after switching to mid high i never felt tired and i could play alot longer
Possibly yes. R.I.P aim for a while then I guess. Will try to remember to post back here if I still have an issue with tiredness
Guys what do you recommend when my wrist hurt when I apply little pressure on it
@hybrid pawn I tried cutting it to stop it digging in but it still digs in when i’m tracking lmao
what mouse do u have?
model o-
i have large hands so
its not the best to use but I hate the RVU
21x10.5cm
idk the sides next to my nails curls over so the nails go deep when im gripping the mouse hard
its not a big deal just wish it'd fuck off
Yeah its a pretty niche problem
aw well i'll just try to adjust my grip so it doesnt hurt as much
somebody will help
as far as I know.. you shouldn't grip your mouse tightly, cause it can lead to issues. That's at least from what I've seen and gathered all over YouTube and aim guide spreadsheets.
Could also be that the mouse is just too thin from the grip width for your hand size that might cause you to grip your mouse "hard" .
I normally keep a pretty relaxed grip but when tracking for long periods I get fatigue and try to regain control by holding it harder
or when im going for speed I tend to grip harder too
but yeah general rule is gripping hard and planting wrist are terrible for smoothness
@oak radish endurance training
Has anyone adapted to a very early morning schedule (e.g. wake up at 3:30-5 am)? If so, any advice on how to make it work?
i used to do this i would go to bed at 8pm every night wake up at like 4-5 am
i gave up after school was over
only really started it because i like going on runs in the morning
and being able to clear my mind before school started helped immensely
Yeah I’m trying to change my schedule since my productivity is way better before work. If I exercise in the evening I usually have trouble sleeping
just make sure to warm up a bit more than usual if you start exercising early in the morning
I go to sleep around 8-9pm and wake up 5 am every morning(even weekends) . If you have hard time going to sleep around 9pm, I'd say cut down your caffeine or just stop drinking it after 12 .
Fortunately I don’t drink caffeine, but I’ll try just going to bed earlier and adjust from there. Thanks.

how do I stop sitting like this

just going to plug this here. Busting a myth about "nerd neck".** No posture is inherently bad** it is the amount of time we spend it in and general physical inactivity which leads to increased risk of musculoskeletal issues
If you are a gamer, you have probably heard of nerd neck before. It is a position a lot of us do not realize we’re in until… maybe someone points it out or takes a picture of you. And oftentimes it can be a reason for some neck discomfort or even headaches during or after your gaming session. Chances are you aren’t able to play how you want to. ...
should I stretch before drawing?
Idk where to put this but i have some kind of problem where i just can never get satisfied with my monitor angle and position maybe its somee ocd or something but i feel like its never perfectly centered with my vision and body so i keep moving it around and it just bothers me, sometimes its good but then something touches the screen like my cat or something
i read somewhere that tensing your hands gives you poor circulation which results in your hands getting cold. and poor circulation is obviously unhealthy. is this the reason tensing is unhealthy? would it be okay to tense my hands as long as i keep my hands warm? or are there other harmful effects?
how do u guys stop feeling the need for improvement, like i just play kovaaks and i cant stick on a scenario because i keep wanting to see improvement
what do you mean?
Has it ever happened to anyone that when using a matte finish mouse for extended periods, the edges of their fingertips got 'eroded' and worn down? This happened to a friend of mine and he says his fingertips feel like plastic, and even, his phone doesn't recognize the fingerprint (right hand). He sent me a picture of his fingers and they look like they have a thousand scratches and cuts on them.
Is this a common occurrence for some mice? Is it an underlying health issue that is causing this?
Would be grateful if someone could offer some insight.
not that he is in any pain, just inconvenienced at not being able to unlock his phone easily
fr guys i've been waking up earlier and earlier despite having difficulty falling asleep due to insomnia. i started taking melatonin droplets and that may be messing me up. i has issues prior to the droplets, but i woke up at 6:30 2 mornings ago with only 6.5 hours of sleep and now 5:45 with only 6. im tired this morning and drinking coffee to help me. these unusual sleep patters has had me waking up at high alert, like heart racing a little. no nightmares or anything, and high cognitive function. i enjoy waking up early but i need help falling asleep. what can i do to help myself?
Would help to stop drinking caffeine(energy drinks, tea, coffee) after 12 am, if you plan on sleeping early to wake up early. I've never dealt with insomnia so I'm afraid I can not help you regarding that. I'd probably try to schedule an appointment with a doctor regarding your issue with heart racing. I've only woken up with heart racing, when I had too much caffeine the previous day.
I'll also mention that chocolate has caffeine as well. What could help you sleep better is to stop eating about 2-3 hours before you go to bed.
@gray osprey I'm pretty sure that's not the reason
Then feel free to tell me the reason
@gray osprey I'm no doctor, but this is how I understand it.
Constant tension is strenuous. Your muscles will have to work harder to maintain a state of tension, which results in greater strain and exertion. Prolonged periods of muscle strain and exertion can and will result in injury. It is my understanding that deliberately tensing those muscles accelerates the process.
It comes down to "too much of anything is bad." This is why we're encouraged to change sitting positions frequently. Overtraining bad.
If I'm wrong... somebody scream at me
Misinformation also bad
@hard star sounds about right
if i do hand stretches after a playing session how long should i wait until i play again?
Is there any way to improve the speed my eyes can register targets? i feel like on static scens where the targets are a bit bigger and easier to hit i am moving at a speed my eyes cant register the targets so im basically just aiming at a blur in my peripheral
I've 130 hours played past two weeks and I think it's probably going to peak around 140-150. Any advice or things to look out for when playing for long hours like these? I've been worrying about damaging my wrist but and I've been doing the recommend wrist stretches when I'm feeling tight or a little pain. But I'd love to hear more about what I should focus on to stay healthy and keep progressing. The games I've been playing are KovaaKs (just for the daily fundamental routine) and the rest is Apex. I haven't been sacrificing my sleep either.
I’m not a health professional but that is way too much
I’m not the best but I would recommend 1-2 hrs a day
I am improving really fast tho almost complete plat
And you probably already hurt your arm/wrist/fingers
I think you might have understood. I only have 26 hours past two weeks on KovaaKs (which isn't even 2 hours a day) and the rest are on Apex.
ok thats not too bad
but
playing way too much
get less hours of more focused practice
i can speak from experience
tendonitis could be something to watch for
if your worried, after a playing for long periods of time you could ice for about 15 minutes
@violet swan I think it's ok as long as you're not tensing up excessively
My rule of thumb is the more you tense up, the less you should play
Another thing to consider is your level of fitness
If your muscles and tendons aren't as strong, tensing them is way worse for you
I'm a couch potato but I started doing dead hangs from a pull up bar to stretch out my upper body
My wrists and grip strength got stronger so I feel less tension when I play
Also generally if u have thick wrists/ ankles u can steadily put alot more tension on ur mouse safely
thicc
Someone here used or uses the 1HP Ergonomics Calculator to choose a mice, because I'm currently using the viper mini but with 20x11cm hands I'm starting to get some strain in my thumb, I was trying to use the calculator, but only big mice like the model D get close to the optimal!
So my chair is slightly lower than my desk, which causes me to tilt upward which means my elbow isn't in line with my waist at a 90 degree angle what can I do to circumvent this?
sit on some thick books bro
This comes down to cognition I'm pretty sure, better sleep and especially a better diet will help improve the overall functionality of, well, you. Shit turns you into a superhuman I bet but I wouldn't know cause I stay up til 11 in the morning and then go to sleep
My elbows are just above my waist along my ribcage due to how high my armrests are, my desk is SHORT AS HELL surface area wise so I don't have a lot of mouse space and I have to use the really high armrests but yknow if I got a job fixed my sleep schedule I could change that 🙄
Yeah sleep and good diet will make you a gamer
I ate some greasy food and my performance went down lel
i get massive anxiety the second i turn on kovaaks and can barely even do 5-10 minutes of training at a time, yet if im tryharding ingame im completely relaxed. dont really know what to do about it. ive tried to distance myself from my scores and tbh i dont think i even care about them but its like my body does?
Sometimes I get worried about scores and training too
What helps get through that is focusing on the target and looking right at that
It's kind of like going into a trance
I chant to myself "follow the car" or "red red red red" and focus on looking at the target
It sounds so corny or too simple but that's all there is to it
It might not feel comfortable but keep looking at it
f the score
f the accuracy
Keep looking at the target because if you stop your performance dips
Might be just a fear of failure, which is normal.
Seems pretty spicy haha
No fear in game but big anxiety in a low-pressure environment
a
timing doesn't matter afaik
Hello, Is it normal that my wrist makes some sort of clack sound when i move it? it does not hurt but it just feels weird
the sound occurs when i move my wrist like the image above
- 5 ish hours of training every day
- 10 min break every 45 min for stretching and to keep focus
- physical training for at least 30 min
is it okay (from a health perspective. would like a second opinion, I think itd be fine?
@ivory sky post with my protein shake
No that is not normal, you may have TFCC, go look it up
Thank you @dull sandal
@light yarrow the best thing you can do for it really is actual exercise to strengthen the muscles around it
@light yarrow I know because I have it
Did tfcc bother you in any way?
yea I’m gonna try that. I felt sick after taking it with my preworkout
Does anyone know if it’s bad to drink coffee before a session? Will my aim be jittery or am I gonna crash after the coffee wears off?
my part of this is hurting i did some strethces but didnt work
If I had to guess it's probably tightness from overuse
If you can try a medium to hard stretch and hold it for 5-10 minutes
Sometimes your muscles need to sit at a lengthened position for a long time to relax
should I sit up straight in my chair instead of my back leaning on my chair
why does my brain work like 100x better at 4am and my aim is 100x better
Less power grid activitiy
power grid activity?
tensed up too much with speed scenarios yesterday and now my short head/tricep kinda hurts when arm aiming. does anyone know if i'll be fine with just using 30cm or something or should i take a complete break?
my pinky finger hurts because of controller claw what can i do against it
should i have some little weight on my arm like a little friction or less friction as possible.. if i have less "pressure" on my arm its hard to control
straight
Been getting a stiff right index finger from claw grip and it hurts what should i do?
Bro anyone here workout regularly? Had a hard day yesterday and today I can't aim for crap.. i see myself underaiming and also reacting super late, my arm, lats and traps is so sore.. i need to keep playing but also working out, any advice?
are you on medication for it? if not have you spoken to a doctor about it?
use your body's energy more. Like taking 30 minute walk a day. Do some light exercise maybe? like 2-5 sets of push ups/squats. Just don't do any exercise 2h before bed, cause that makes the mind just more active.
You can also try to set your PC a timer that it turns on the windows night light option (aka making your screen more yellowish)
I personally think it does matter what you're eating as well.
These are things I have done to fix my issue with not being able to sleep and mind becoming more active during evening/bed time hours. I don't have insomnia though... so I'd most likely turn to a doc.
@hollow abyss if you are experiencing pain every time you play you should take a break for a few days at least and do stretches
A top 3 do's and don'ts to avoid carpal tunnel?
Today for the first time I experienced a very slight weakness/numbness in my hand grip after a long kvk session. Kinda freaky
@pearl dome your mouse hand or keyboard hand? I had to switch from a Logitech G403 to a G502 because I was developing carpal tunnel and I wasn't even aim training. It's all about your wrist and how its angled along with grip pressure. We don't realize it but we do put a lot of physical stress on our wrists, especially after a long session or consecutive sessions. Health is everything! Don't continue until you find a solution or else you'll keep experiencing set backs. Hope this helps.
Mouse hand. But lately I think I kinda have weak grip in both hands in general. Somehow when I squeeze my fists its much weaker than it used to be. I just ordered one of those spring grip strengtheners to train my strength.
In general I try to keep my hand as relaxed as possible and have good posture afaik. Health is is everything though, maybe I'll take a break until I figure this out
Any way to stop my wrist from feeling strained after playing for a bit? It feels annoying as fuck and makes my hand shake
@sudden bramble meditate regularly
Literally changes the way ur mind passively operates
Takes a lot to get anywhere but the payoffs are so good if you keep it up
Also take breaks throughout the day to just let urself think freely
Venting ur thoughts in a way
depends on the person for me there is an small initial "kick" that lasts for a few min then I become more focused afterwards
don't over train, overtense your grip and stretch before, during and after the sessions
ya, 24 hours later and i can't play anything bc it hurts, i think you might be right 😔
stretch and have your elbows in a 90'ish degree angle so taht your arm/hand is close to neutral position and not bent down or upwards. Most importantly don't death grip your mouse.
I second what @drifting belfry says
should you stretch right before hopping on or after practicing? or even both
Stretch after you're done for the day, as this can impact your performance negatively
How much should my arm be on my desk/mousepad? Is this strictly preference or is there advantages to something over another?
when i think of a fist, i dont think of my thumb being on the inside
but in this pic it really looks so
so whats the correct position of the thumb?
i would assume the picture is correct
Hi all, I'm seeking sleep related advice, however needed.
I usually find that I get around maybe 7-9 hours in bed(usually in bed at 1AM, wake up at 9AM), but I never really truly feel rested in the morning. I often shut my alarm off and try to sleep more, only for it to have no impact.
Throughout the day, I have a tough time with the more difficult tasks. My Physics course? I often want to not do it, and scroll through TikTok most of the time, causing it to take hours longer. KovaaKs? My performance feels very iffy. 200 hours played(although inconsistently) and I feel like I'm stuck on the same plateau, and I can't focus.
I really only get a boost of energy when I eat foot(especially dinner). My friend suggested I get a sleep tracker or smth to see how my sleep quality really is, but what can I do in the meantime?
I know it's a typo but I still found "I eat foot funny" 😅
are you by chance smoking weed or drinking alcohol before bed? Is your life really stressful right now? Are you sleeping in a completely dark room? Is the room cold? Are you drinking caffeine before bed? Are you taking any supplements? Set your alarm for when you actually want to wake up. If you're trying to get more sleep, bump it up. You're barely getting any meaningful sleep doing that, if at all. Also track what you're eating. If food gives you an energy boost, you're probably not eating enough.
No weed, no alc, not too much stress(although sometimes i have rly meh or shit thoughts that may enter my mind before I sleep). The room isn't completely dark, there is some light that comes from the street or night atmosphere. Supplements, yes(since today): Vitamin D especially.
Ok that's good. Seems like your lifestyle is at least conducive to proper sleep. Vitamin D is a good one for sleep. If you're deficient in it, it really messes with you. There's also some supplements that can disrupt because of their stimulatory effects. I noticed you mentioned your phone. Do you look at that before/during bedtime? Also how's your food/nutrition situation? Are you eating a balanced diet with minimal processed food and also eating enough calories?
Are you always up at 9? If so, maybe try shifting that up 30 minutes so 1-9:30 instead of 1-9
that would better align with the sleep cycles
My phone is a bit of a problem, yes. Most nights, I tend to scroll through TikTok, not rly getting the 30min bluelight break I should get. I usually get a burst of energy in the night time, also causing me to scroll on my phone a little bit since I'm awake and bored af lmfao.
My diet and nutrition is balanced all around, thanks in part to my mom making home cooked dinners and prepping breakfasts in advance that I can just heat up(most of the time, it's waffles, sometimes french toast or pancakes. love her so much).
Breakfast usually consists of 1 circle of a belgian waffle, with peanut butter and jam/apple sauce and stuff.
Not always up at 9. Usually shut it off to try to get more shuteye lmao. If you don't mind me asking, how would shifting it 30 min ahead better align myself with sleep cycles?
I'm not too familiar with circadian rhythms or sleep cycles so
your sleep goes through different stages, and the timing generally is around 90 minutes a cycle. Ideally you'd wake up around the end of a cycle because that's the closest state to being awake. If you work it out, you want to either go to sleep at 1:30 and wake up at 9 or go to sleep at 1 and wake up at 9:30. If you aren't consistent with your sleep timings, that can be really bad
also regarding your food choices, what do you eat after breakfast?
Usually eggs, or open sandwiches with ham and cheese. I try to fit protein in to get good energy.
any vegetables?
Vegetables is mostly during dinner.
My mom gives pretty big portions of salad during that.
Sometimes though I might saute an onion with my eggs
Ok. I'm just trying to figure out if your diet is playing a part in your sleep problems. Are you at a normal weight? Also depending on your age, you might need more sleep. 13-18 requires 8-10 hours for example
I'm 18, and I weigh ~135 lbs
how tall are you?
yeah it sounds like that's at least playing a part in your tiredness
i would try to eat more if you can
just checked, BMI of 19.4. On the lower end of what's considered a normal, healthy weight
If I were to increase my portions(e.g. add another half waffle to breakfast, and another egg, larger portions during dinner), would my weight continue increasing for god knows how long, or will it steady itself at another point?
hard to tell without knowing the total calories you are consuming and burning
which reminds me, are you exercising? That can help with sleep
like not immediately before, but just overall
Not much, no. I might take a powerwalk once in a while, or do this one 10min core crusher routine on my Nike app, but that's abt as much as I would do occasionally.
I've been getting wrist pain since yesterday
It was rather abrupt
Well actually it's slightly above the wrist
And to the right of my hand
Should I be concerned
Or will this go away with rest
It's not too bad and I don't notice it while playing apex
Or cs
But it's noticable outside of the games
To me everything seems fine overall. I would just try to eat more vegetables and fibrous foods, like sweet potatoes and legumes. Since those won't bump up your calories too much, but they will help with nutrients and steady energy. On top of that, maybe try increasing your sleep from 1-9 to 12-10 and exercising a bit more.
Gotcha. Thanks a bunch for the plentiful info my man, can't say how much I appreciate you comin out and giving me this wisdom haha

More than 50 million Americans suffer with some form of sleep deprivation, and the chances are you may be one. According to World Sleep Day, “Sleep problems constitute a global epidemic that threaten...
Can you elaborate? Is it like by your thumb? Do you have any idea of how it got injured?
It's not by my thumb
Its on the opposite side
Slightly above the bone that's jutting out
No noticable impact on movement rn
so it's under the pinky, where the wrist connects to the hand?
Yes
It starts up if I move my wrist a lot
Like the warmup thing where you sort of roll the wrist
what kind of pain is it
It feels like it happens in sort of a patch
Joint pain probably
Also feels coarse idk
Is it dull, or sharp?
Is it pulsing?
Does it happen in clusters?
It's not really sharp but not full either
Isn't pulsing and not in clusters
Idk how it started
And isn't really stiff
Ideally, you'd go to a doctor, but my opinion as a random dude on the internet is that it doesn't sound serious. So long as it's not extremely painful. You don't want to mess with joint pain, so I'd stray away from doing anything that puts it in a painful position and see how it feels in a few days. If it were my wrist, I'd just wait a few days and see if it goes away. If not, then I'd consider going to a doctor.
it's possible it's like a sprain or something. When I sprained my ankle it persisted for more than a few days, but due to the unknown origin, it's better to play it safe imo
Aight
If it persists though for more than a few days, even weeks, contact your doctor.
Is it normal to have this feeling in my arm and hand
it's making me feel like I can't be smooth
Is there a term to describe the ability to precisely and accurately use a specific amount of strength? Would it just be dexterity?
could gripping your mouse too hard be harmful? and tips on avoiding from gripping it too hard
Oof now the pain is almost constantly there and pulsing
If my wrist is bent in any way
Guys, is there any problem to use arm sleeve all day? Im a software engineer, and arm sleeve help me alot in consistent aim and with arm pain in gerenal
If it's not extremely tight, then I don't see a problem. However if it is.. I'd recommend taking it off for 10-15 minutes every few hours.
its only tight in the biceps area, but ty !
Yeah I'd go see a doctor.
Guys,i have wrist pain while playing, what can i do?
My sens 35cm/360
how long should rest be?
And either cut hours playing if you mainly use your wrist or start using your arm as well
I used to only wrist aim for hours and felt pain a lot but ever since i incorporated arm movements as well i could play even longer with no issues as long as there are some breaks
Yeah i used to tense up before aim training so idk how it will be now, but even though i was tensing up i still felt a lot better when i started using my arm as well
- breaks are important too
Guys is there a solution to mental exhaustion ? After playing 2 games of valorant rankef ( i play only smokes ) , i get exhausted & i cant aim or think properly. I drink water evey 15mins. My warmup is just 30min kovaaks ,& 2 dm. Also, i try to not let myself get tilted easily.
do you get enough sleep?
Pretty much just rest and recovery. Sleep is the most important aspect.
Hey I'm sure this is asked all the time but I was just looking for some quick input on good chairs to get when I replace mine next week ive been using some crapping office chair for years now basically sitting on wood and my backs really starting to feel it mixed with my bad posture
Nothing over 500 but preferably around 300 or less would be great
140lbs and 6ft just to use as a reference
@rancid cobalt get something ergo, i got mine from a target near me and i work 8 hours a day on a shitty chair, id never sit in a better chair than the ergo
are pubs better to practice than arenas in apex?
dont buy gaming
Depends. If ur practicing 1v1 (team fights), yes... But if ur practicing stuff like gamesense, map rotation and tracking enemy teams, pubs is better. Just make sure your paying attention to your positioning. And if ur trying to climb ranked (battle royal) and are not confident you can 1clip moving targets, avoid dropping hot (famous places or places near the start of the dropship).
What i said last is the usual reason people who are hardstuck gold or lower are like that. As for plat and above, that has more conditional reasons
Is 3-4 hours enough?
Thank you
Plz note: positioning, movement and damage avoidance all can drastically improve gameplay even with aim @grim terrace theres a youtuber who does a series called "No Aim Movement Brain" which is a good example of how much practicing movement can affect your survivability
Yeah i sleep dor 7hrs
Oof sleeps 2x the amount i do 😢
Wish i could do that and still be able to game
nah its not enough
Should i reduce the amount of sleep to practice mechanics ?
not at all
sleep is one of the most important things to improving mechanics
^
every time I roll my wrist, it relieves some pain and like cracks some sort of joints, i also feel some pain in my pinky and index at different times, the pain never comes together and the bone which joins the hand and wrist on the upper part of the wrist occasionally pains. is it carpal tunnel?
prob ulnar tunnel
99.95% not carpal tunnel. https://youtu.be/s1Q1TwogTps
Most likely the wrist tendons. https://youtu.be/JoedUZ4OpPY
Does gaming really cause carpal tunnel syndrome? You’ve probably heard of carpal tunnel syndrome and how it might have ended the careers of many gamers. But is it really carpal tunnel that is doing this? Dr. Google keeps telling us it might be but today we wanted to settle this once and for all. THIS IS ESPORTS MYTHBUSTERS
We are going to use ...
Muscle tendon overuse (very very very VERY UNLIKELY carpal tunnel, if you read other comments)
To reduce overgripping: Check if you are too stressed - and manage that first.
If it is purely just physical habits, then practicing in a way that forces you grip it less. We have tried getting people to put some pointy bits on their mouse to force it. It's the same concept of getting people to hold raw eggs without breaking them in rehab.
saw this video a few months ago thank you though just needed a second opinion
I am not sure if this belongs in Health let me know, I have ADHD. I seem to have a strong issue keeping my attention on training. like I can be doing good then i drift away and think of other things and screw my score up. My question is has anyone else with ||ADHD|| figured a way to mitigate this beside medication?
Had some red spots pop up on my finger and theyre like sore bumps to the touch. Any idea?
did anything bite you there?
i get those kinds of bumps from bug bites all over me cause i sleep shirtless lmao
i don't feel it though until i start touching it
no they only happen on my right hand
at the joints
as far as i know, bed bugs dont have hand fetish
bugs will bite you anywhere
but if there are multiple bumps specifically on the joints on your right hand alone then it's more then likely not the case
so i can't help you there sorry
i get the same thing but on the middle and ring finger, on the palm side tho
this never used to be an issue but i recently took off a bit from gaming and now that I've come back I've got terrible wrist shakes and i have no idea what caused this or how to overcome it. it goes away when i apply very little force to my mouse but even when im trying to relax its still there.
i need an advice. my sleeping regime gone crazy after exams (i can go to sleep at 6am and wake up at 4 pm) and i wanna know how to fix this correctly. just setting up a alarm or trying to go to bed earlier does't really work for me. when i tried to go to bed before i feel sleepy my brains were filling with thoughts and other things that distracted my sleep. so i used to skip 1 sleep cycle and go asleep like i normally would. is there a more "healthy" way of doing it?
getting light at the correct hours is the most important. your body has a circadian rhythm that's activated by light. the circadian rhythm controls your energy, when you get tired/ready for sleep, etc. so get up at 8am, doesn't matter when you sleep just set an alarm for 8am. immediately get some sunlight in the morning, like 10-30 minutes, best thing is go for a walk in the sun. your body will quickly adapt and at night time it will make you sleepy because your circadian rhythm is working as it should :)
Wow that's actually really useful information thank you, I know it wasnt for me but like now I understand why some days I'm not feeling tired.
Thank you so much! I will try it out
does meditation help at all improve for gaming/aim practicing? or is it just a good habit to have
do I do the exercises in the video or these? https://drive.google.com/file/d/1JKKSBWXHM-V5C9gMhVFWQgsHwVLcVMgb/view
You can do both! The video focuses on the basics for the wrist, the ones you linked includes the same stretches and more for other parts of the body.
The 1HP youtube channel also has various wrist, neck, back, shoulder routines which cover similar things
Should I stretch before or after kovaaks?
before
Alright thanks
Dynamic (movement) stretches best before activity. Can do static or dynamic (whichever feels nicer) post activity
thank you!
Is there any link between meditation and improving at games/aim besides like staying calm? Cause meditation seems interesting to start
you're not a gamer unless you've rage quit meditation
bro u will just improve at life not just games
I've been trying to be as relaxed possible with my wrist and little with my arm while practising, or playing, but over time in kovaaks (or while playing in an intense situation), I will tense both my wrist and arm. How can I stop this from happening in the future?
@frosty mica you are just going to have to consistently keep reminding yourself to relax every 10-15 seconds, I had to do the same and it’s helping. And I am finally beginning to do it without thinking about it
That worked for me at least, everyone is different
How important is it to have you arm at a 90* angle? Does it have an advantage?
@frosty mica I suffer from adhd anxiety and I go through this too. I was told on here (and it’s working) to spend 30 mins of your training a day forcing yourself to play relaxed. Even if it tanks your scores. You do it every day and it will become habit. Just gotta teach your body to do it
It depends on what area of the body you are talking about. If you are talking about your elbow then yes it does have some advantages. Muscles work by overlapping the fibers inside them. If they are too overlapped(think the top of a bicep curl) you don't have anywhere to go. If they are not overlapped enough they can't grab onto each other to create motion(think the bottom of a biceps curl, harder that the middle). So having your elbow at 90 means you are at the optimal length for your muscles to work!
Thank you so much. Been trying to improve my posture and I feel like it’s been helping a ton. So since I have short chubby legs I had to lower my seat to as low as it would go so that my feet touched the ground flat. So I ended up lowering my desk this morning so that my elbows were at 90*.
I'm glad you're seeing results! If you like how high your seat and desk were before then getting a foot rest is a totally viable option. The key thing is adjusting your environment to work for you, which you are already doing
Thanks to you my stress grip has also improved. But with my seat all the way down it’s way more comfy. I only just did it this morning but I played like 10 mins and it feels weird but not in a bad way. I appreciate your advice
Not particularly, just choose whatever order you like
That's great! I'm glad the advice is helping
didn't realise this was anxiety related but thanks for letting me know 🙂
i wish they were sorted abit better for example im trying to find an exercise for shoulder/ arm mobility because i realized moving my hand to to left has abit of tension
but ye thanks for all the exercises
My knuckle index finger is hurt I think i use it too much (my kovaak reset key is F and my pickup key Also F too) how to fix and avoid it?
Oh I got you fam

What is a diet to keep me healthy and rise my performance in game.
Really hard to choose because of how many diets there are
my arm rests on my chair cuck my posture
how do i fix this without having to get another desk / cjairt
chair
Remove armrests(if you can), scoot in, move monitor back
maintaining a relaxed focus helps with any kind of sport and meditation might help with that
can anyone help me, the day after working out my entire arm upto shoulder feels stiff and im underaiming like hell, is there any way to relax this
carpal tunnel, am i right guys?
btw, i feel like streching my tendons actually hurts them mroe than helps them
i had to take a break from aiming as i felt numbness and pain in my hand.... but taking a break is hard because you use your hands quite a lot. So i streched them a lot but i feel like that hurt my recovery more than it helped.
Now is my 4th day of my break, and it is finally getting a little better and my wrist dosent hurt as much, however my forearm does (which is a good tradeoff) but i dont know if i should keep streching or not, any advice?
hey guys/girls, I am having an issue where my ring & pinky finger starts to hurt from lifting and repositioning the mouse. aim training on kovaaks doesnt cause this. Only when in game constant lifting and readjusting mouse is causing the fingers to get tired. its worse when have to ads and lift and the same time. using gpro wireless, fingertip/claw grip.
grip
will it be beneficial if i start doing hand stretches. if so, what are the benefits
I only have undergrad experience of kinesiology related injuries, but I can reccomend try tense training
see if your tensing your pinky and ring finger harder against the mouse, which could explain why you might feel pain from repositioning. But also in general, you should be aim training with less tension, which makes it harder to aim, but when in in-game scenario situations when you need that precision, you can rely on tension or engage "easier time aiming" assisted by the tension
you are right sir. i do tense more when i have to lift and reposition mouse which is a lot since im mostly wrist aim. 21cm/360. what do you mean by tense training?
Guys, I'm a weightlifter. Should I practice my aim before the gym? Sometimes my arms are really tired and I underperform, sometimes I get really tired legs, but still, I feel it reduces my performance a little bit. Should I practice anyway and get used to it or nah? I play most of the time after the gym anyway.
That is something you are going to have to explore yourself and see how you feel. I have tried aim practice before the gym and after the gym and prefer to do it after but it really depends on you
Yo, can anyone help me out with my posture? When I play any FPS I notice that I naturally bring myself so close to my desk that my stomach is like pressing into it
it kind of hurts after a while and I think it's making me inconsistent but I can't find a more comfortable position
I'm also pretty skinny so it's not even like I can just lose some weight lol
I also notice that I adjust my screen until it's at a severe angle by the end of a session. Kind of similar to this beautiful illustration
I also sit until my desk presses on my stomach, it doesnt hurt but should I change it?
It is fine to sit so your stomach is like touching the desk, but not to the point where it squeezes you. If it hurts you might be leaning forward. I have my stomach touching my desk very gently.(sounds weird but not sure how else to word it)
There's no magic pill to fixing a bad habit other than replacing with a good habit. This is done by being conscious/aware when you're about to example lean forward to then get back to proper posture . Can't remember exactly but your mind starts to wander after 3-5 seconds or something, which just means you gotta keep constantly reminding yourself until it sticks to you
If you can not sit straight, I think it just means your core(abs) are just weak.
Thanks for the advice, I think the issue stems from me aiming with about 3/4 of my forearm on my desk/mousepad so I have to sit pretty close
Not bad but mabye you could do with some distractions as it's not exactly good to always be worried about your work
@sterile sphinx i hold my mouse the exact same way and have the issue atm
sorry I got busy at night, i mean during aim training, try to aim with the least tension possible
any tips you have that helped you?
@sterile sphinx trying to find some myself, if I do I’ll let you know
Sorry if this is the wrong place to ask but I've been looking into getting an arm sleeve and was curious if anyone know's which one Ethos uses?
If you have any recommendations too that works! Tag meh plez <3
if you're reaction to your wrist being pain is like that i'm sure you need probably a week+ lmfao
You are a kovaak main for sure
is is healthy to sleep 4 hrs in night & 3 hrs during afternoon ? thing is there is heatwave going on in my area & i cant sleep properly at night. during day i can turn on the AC for resting.
oh im sorry to hear about that...make sure you drink tons of water. As long as the sleep cycles themselves are the same and you are getting the same ratio of REM/deep/light sleep, i dont see how there could be a problem
You don't stretch or possibly hold your hand in a weird angled/twisted position that causes strain to your wrist more than it should.
this is my friend he has destroyed his back playing kvk voltaic benchmarks. how to fix this
@wooden gazelle could you possibly have any idea @twin fog please help
@twin fog can you helpings our friend rn
his name; the razer aka pulse__hxper
15 in pasu voltaic easy
if i have over stressed me tendons should i keep stretching them while i am taking a break from aiming or just leave my arm be?
this was my best score for reaction time test average 150+
i improved from 200 ms
although i didnt really do much 🗿
Maybe it was an outlier?
Was this an average reaction time?
oh ok thats some big improvement. Nice bro
eat green i guess 🗿
Lifestyle changes optimizes reaction time

although i been so relaxed recently
