Cells need to perform metabolic functions without expending the body's "supply". You need to be in a state where there's little to no demand on your physiology for that to happen. You've seen how many people go crazy, or otherwise, just depressed, without appropriate sleep
You are right about one thing, the quality and consistency of good sleep definitely matter as much as the quantity
Yeah I know
I know abouty all this but i've not found any good advice for fixing sleep schedule either though so I can not be on EU time while in EST in NA
So I said fuck it i dont have a job or real school what am i going to lose
So what's your issue? Do you sleep too late, wake up too late, and have the cycle repeat?
Yep basically
Any medical history?
Nope
And this sleeping issue, when did it start?
Well uh, y'see, long
GG @sour hamlet, you just advanced to level 2 !
I honestly have no specific timing or anything for this
this typically happens whenever i dont have a set in stone schedule determined for me by something else, but im doing this now because this is an effort of self improvement and self improvement only
waking up at 1 to 3 in the afternoon everyday is not a good thing in anyway shape or form
You're absolutely right. And often, doing it in the name of self-improvement, without any schedule holding you obligated to sleep properly, that's what requires the most discipline. So good on you
Now for the good news, this is fixable. I've dealt with this issue, I think many of us here have
I used to wake up at 4-5 in the afternoon during one summer
You need to, at some point, stay up for a little longer than you're used to
Find a distraction, something outside, an event, activity with friends or family. Make plans at 7 PM and stick to them. Go out for a run or to the gym
What this does is it puts you in a position where you're acting like your 24 hour clock is fixed
Are you referring to a thing a book referenced called Chronotherapy?
Probably expending much more energy during these activities. You'll be way more tired when you're back home
No, that involves drugs
This is just the best solution I have, from experience
I'd go a week or so with shitty sleeping. On the day that I have plans, I go out, go through with those plans, and by the time I'm home I'm usually tired enough to sleep at a normal time again. From then, it was about maintaining it
Okay the book is using the wrong term then i guess
Unless it specifically involves a lifestyle change with no drugs involved
I don't know if that's also chronotherapy
But what does the book suggest?
The way the book is describing it is that its basically telling you to just push your sleep FORWARD into the right time
instead of fighting it backwards
Exactly
So you stay up till two so you gradually move to 4 in the morning for sleep
then 6 8 then you work till a normal sleep time
seems a lot of work
dunno just doing exercise and warming yourself at night always work
you used up all your energy
Cant really do excercise when I only get to experience a quarter of the day
That could work, it seems like it could be done faster. I don't think your situation is that chronic for there to be a need for a slow, dragged-out solution. Your body knows what it feels like to sleep well
Unless you'd rather do that, both work
damn then doing the thing where you push forward your schedule will make you also experience less
lol
yeah
But a quarter of a day is still six hours
But it also probably works better
Running for thirty minutes is probably enough
walking?
The solution is what worked for me best, just straight up cold turkey. I recommended it because it's the same shoes you're in, so there's little to worry about. At the end, it's logically feasible both ways
Everyone knows that, its a joke
Didn't get the joke because you sounded serious with the "FUCK NO" but the first part... not so sure! A LOT of people think cardio kills gains
I just dont like self torture
Too many...
Cardio is great dude
Feels awesome when you're in the habit of it moreso than when you do it abruptly every now and then. That can feel like shit
Cause you're never really used to it, so it always just feels too much to bear, and you go home with all sorts of aches and pains
But habitually, it becomes a boost in the right doses
Thats why I dont like it is those pains dont feel good
Most things work, as long as they are done in moderation
Those were the words that transformed my eating experience
Yeah
So hold on, can you give me a more detailed example of what you meant with your example of the sleep shit
GG @sour hamlet, you just advanced to level 3 !
Alright
Here's exactly what I did
I normally sleep very well. During last summer break, I had absolutely nothing to do besides go to the gym, which I could do at late hours. So I would sleep at 5-6 AM, and wake up at 3-4 PM
During that time, my family would notice my sleeping patterns changing and try to alert me about it. I was aware, but just couldn't find a way to fix it. The only real solution I found was to plan something with friends one day at like, 4-5 PM. I set an alarm and asked for someone to wake me up as a backup plan. I ended up sleeping late, but waking up at like 2. Got ready, went out, spent 3-4 hours with those friends, and then got home. The combination of little sleep and not having a nap as a viable option made me force myself to stay up during the day on low hours of sleep. By the time I was home it was 9-10 PM, but I knew that if I sleep then I'd wake up too early. So I spent two hours with family, which woke me up, but not too much to the point where I lost the "tired". It was around 12:30 when I got in bed, and probably 1 AM when I fell asleep
It happened again just before summer ended, and that time, I HAD plans already, and it worked then too
Ah okay
So basically you woke up slightly earlier and then did shit to tire yourself out then went to sleep at a proper time?
Basically
Alright, i'll try that out before I try just gradually pushing my sleep forward
since that'll take a week
I been starting to have lots of wrist pains recently :(
GG @subtle flame, you just advanced to level 1 !
hi jimmy
@reef elbow nice posture and stretching guide :)
imma start incorporating a lot of it into my daily routine
Thank you @long wadi ! hope it helps!!
ik it definitely will
@reef elbow great work on your Guide. As someone who has also a bit of knowledge in this field I really liked it! Simple and comprehensive
Thank you @slow kelp ! Really appreciate the support
How much is my performance going to decrease when I quit caffeine entirely and only drink much water everyday ?
Shouldn't decrease much imo @cursive hemlock I notice little performance gains from caffeine, but others say they become cracked on it so idk
As long as ur not adhd ur fine :)
You probably build tolerance for it over time
Short-term you're going to be more tired probably, cuz you relied on caffeine for a long time
Long-term your energy will be more consistent so it's probably worth it for you
thank you @strong mason !!! much love brother
kastor gj 🙂
GG @naive valley, you just advanced to level 5 !
I'm ADHD and caffeine does nothing for my reaction time and performance anyway, but now I have a dependence
Also no difference between when I have taken my adderall vs when I have not in VRT, but my aim is objectively better anyway
That's not really what I was gonna talk about but I was reading chat
Aim coaches have done a better job of convincing me to change my lifestyle than doctors
I just wanna know what I should be looking at specifically with what is good diet wise for keeping myself in "good aiming condition" I suppose. I sometimes have a hard time eating due to my appetite being really suppressed and being nauseated by food from stims, so my main source of anything actually useful is in smoothies with some milk, fruit, and protein powder
Staying away from that stuff is usually your best bet
You can have like maybe 1 cup of black tea in the morning and then through-out the day drink (decaf) green tea instead of coffee
But mostly drink water of course
The tea breaks are just when you feel like having a warm cup
And then occasional smoothies, or protein shakes are good as well
Only thing with smoothies is all the natural acids, may be kind of tough for your stomach so you can't have too much of that either plus for your teeth (but you can use a straw to avoid the teeth part)
Obviously having a healthy diet, exercising, doing stretches and avoiding eye strain is the best for performance and improving
But if you can't get that you can always minimize/reduce the 'unhealthiness' of your current diet
I personally try to stay away from supplements
And only have coffee every now and then, in the morning it's great to have something warm so I drink tea and only let it sit for a little to make it light
I would recommend avoiding added sugar as much as you can
You can't really avoid it, but taking less is better ofc
Yeah I am looking to wean off the caffeine, and I try to not use the adderall for any gaming shit but I also find going off it a hindrance in general. I'll definitely stick with the tea, it's always around for me, big tea house lol.
I ended up with these caffeine pills to avoid sugar unfortunately
dude if you are prescribed it I would continue to take it as prescribed
Especially if when you are off it it causes a hindrance
anybody have some good stretches for like below the thumb and thumb side of the wrist? 🙂
thanks @reef elbow i just dont know if they are for what Im looking for specifically
ok ill tell you which one
People say blueberries are very good for health and good for your eyes. So I bought blueberry extracts. 1 capsule has 470mg blueberry extract. Daily recommended intake is 3 capsules after meal. After 30 mins of taking 1410 mg blueberry extract my eyes are like they got an upgrade, my eyes can't get tired after looking to the monitor for a very long time, and I tested my vrt: avg 165ms to avg 158-155. I don't notice any tolerance after 3 weeks of consuming it everyday. My dad tried it too, he only takes 1, but he definitely said his eyes were more responsive and better. I definitely recommend taking it.
Why not just go for some fresh blueberry and yoghurt if it cheaper i suppose
It's not cheaper in my country
Fair enough
Also nice that you suggest those more option to choose👌
Have you try 1 week without?
Like see if you have to keep using it .
Well if I will notice some tolerance I will stop using it but if I don't, I don't see any reason not to use it.
Personally could buy 60 extracts of blueberry + sea buckthorn oil for 18.50€
if u guys got a safeway near u you can get a big 3lb bag of blueberries for 10.99
how much blueberries do i need to eat to get the same effect of one pill? @tender flint
@short cave I don't really like the blueberry's taste to be honest
oh dang
@copper sky 14 gram
thats 42g a day for the 3 pills
same
@short cave ben I calculated the 3 pills
when im doing pull ups
my left arm
is much more tired
than right
even though i feel like im using both evenly
that means your left is weaker than ur right

I think I need to start focusing on my health more
Is snacking on blueberries that beneficial?
blueberries 🔥
Definitely
also eating frozen blueberries are good too, makes them crunchy and kinda like candy
same for mango and pineapple kinda
but buying them frozen is usually more expensive since people mostly use them for smoothies including me
yeah true, can you just put them in the freezer and do it on your own? Or does that not work
@reef elbow insane guide i love it. TYSM
You're welcome @weak oxide ! thank you
I wonder if there's something like this I could get
that'd be good for aiming
something with low friction on the pad but doesn't get in the way of mouse grip
that'd feel good with the compression
probably a compression arm sleeve
ya but most of them don't cover wrist
or if they do it's just a thumb hole
also idk which sleeve to get to have lowest friction on mousepad
my long sleeve underarmor shirts have high friction with my cloth pads so that material wouldn't work
I’ve personally had no problem with wrist getting stuck if that’s what you mean
They usually go from wrist to around your bicep right?
@worthy cloud get them from Ali express! Bought a pair from amazon for 10 bucks (one pair) then found the same on Ali and bought 5 pair (in pink and blue) for 3.99
guys i did high intensity cardio walk thing and i feel super good !! would recommend
@violet swan Amazon's Choice for Women's Compression Sleeves

How's everyone doing on those new years gains? Any PBs out there?

Hey guys
I just overdosed on some
Amphetamine x10
What do I do?
@oak orbit
Plus
Im TIRED AS FUCK
-_-
when I wake up
ye
depends on the aim
^ ur underrated on twitter
if we are talkng realisticly; it will neither hurt no do good
but if we talking brosci
100% will harm aim
for sure
but
u see any good aimers without skeleton arms?
yea but then its not aim tho
so the question
and you can meet halfway
exactlky

become the charger from l4d
I have swole arms
I think it does actually affect my arm aiming speed a bit
Sleeve might help
I'm literally at the gym right now
Shitposting in discord during cardio
Ya
But it's still so boring
I've been watching anime during cardio
Im hitting a pull workout today
Get to go heavy on rack pulls
I don't mind pull
Been watching a ton of strongman comps lately so I'm inspired to hit a deadlift pr soon
Nice
I've been on a cut so its annoying seeing my strength go down
But I've been gaining on deadlift anyway
Due to technique improvements
Squat and bench are suffering though
It's not something you want to do without instruction tbh
And they don't have bar
I wish I could practice curls more
But I've been getting serious about powerlifting lately
I broke my left wrist twice
:(
It hurts bad
Dont do anything that hurts
You can usually find a way around an injury to work a specific muscle
You might be able to do some machine or cable curls
I'd stay away from straight bar curls for sure though
Do pull ups work on biceps?
They can
Chin ups do more
With supenated grip
Palms facing you
The main thing you're working in pullups is your lats
Biceps are secondary
Thanks for the help
@worthy cloud if you want to acquire the health role you have to do an interview with @oak orbit
and be active in here as well obv
Probably looking from what you said earlier, you'll be fine
We just want to make sure people get the right advice
No trolling in serious help channels
Yeah that's good
Anyone who starts advocating for unhealthy stuff should get a channel ban
Like amphetamines 🤔
Kevin can have health role, ive seen his posts here before
Definitely qualified to give good information
just so yall know. exercise releases endorphines (it makes you happy)

Yeah I've started doing more cardio
Hopefully helps with mood
I went too hard last fall
Dreamer bulked so I could hit 405 bench
I gained like 25lb
Mostly fat
Powerlifter??
Yeah
I'm currently cutting and focusing on learning to deadlift properly
lol
My 1rms in gym are 400 even bench, 485 squat, 405 dead
Haven't done a meet yet though
Holy fuck
Ya I have hip and knee injuries from when I wanted to be a pro hockey player so squatand deads are hard
Conventional
I have no power off the ground if I sumo
u plan on posting ur meat soon?
KevinL is chad
I'm not Chad yet gotta keep cutting
I wanna do a meet after I cut then do another strength phase
meet?
Yeah you go get 3 tries to do your best on squat, bench, deadlift
With judges for your form
Whoever's 3 lifts add up to the most wins their weight class
is ice water therapy good for wrist injuries?
It will help with inflammation if there is any, what sort of injury is it? @subtle flame
idk specifically but like if I tense my wrist too much the muscles get all locked up and I lose pretty much all range of motion
also when I click with my finger a lot it gets this really bad nerve pain
Hmm, i dont know much about physical injuries but my advice would be to avoid using it as much as possible, keep it cold and if it doesn't feel better in a week then probably get it checked out
okeedokee, thanks for help :)
I'm actually so happy with my gym progress
Ive lost like 5 pounds
I'm 110 5'4
Which I feel like is really good weight to start gaining muscle and have it be noticeable

Make sure to take pictures, being able to see your body transform for the better is addicting
I got a digital scale with bluetooth
Got a bodyweight graph on my phone
Helps seeing the diet actually working
GG @timid lodge, you just advanced to level 1 !
Yeah I just like it for the bodyweight graph
The bf% isn't too far off from my caliper readings though

Mirror is what matters
I've seen a few videos that make me think every bf measurement method is a guess at best
I find it almost entirely pointless to use numbers when taking care of your health, besides weighing yourself and your meals
It leads to too much obsession that eliminates a necessary liberty in having a healthy lifestyle, that it just becomes a toxic infatuation that drives you mad
Yeah that's true
Also body fat, unless you're competing for a certain number, may even feel better by monitoring merely through a mirror. You're just like "oop there's a little progress there, but not quite where I want it to be yet. Just gotta get a bit of fat off this area then I'll be satisfied"
I have a long way to go though so I've been measuring with calipers every week just to keep myself on the diet
I have a general goal
Been working with a coach too
That's very fair
Is there anyone who takes Lutein & Zeaxanthin for their eyes? If yes, I would like to hear some experiences with it.
I've never looked into eyesight supplements but that might be something I could use
as I'm getting old
please ping me if u know how to fix a terrible sleep schedule and to stay consistent with it
theres a lot you can do
first thing i would do is ask; is your sleep schedule actually that terrible
@violet swan Consistent is totally up to you and there really isn’t a sure fire way you can keep it. But fixing a terrible sleep schedule can be fixed by Planning when to Wake Up and Sleep, then forcing yourself to stay up until your planned Sleep time.
When do you currently go to bed?
anytime from 3am to 9am
Do your friends stay up that late as well?
What do you find is a good time to go to bed?
i want to go to bed around 12
Wake up?
Ok so 8 hours which is fine
GG @marble kayak, you just advanced to level 8 !
Find a day where you don’t need to work/school and stay up till when you want to normally go to bed. Suggestion when forcing yourself to be sleep deprived: Don’t Drive, stay home, eat and drink lots. Coffee use when needed.
Hope that helps!
should i just stay up today
there a tournament
so idk
but thx for the help, i will def do this 🙂
Your Charmeleon is now level 23!
GG
If you have any responsibilities that require you to be 100% don’t try to fix it on that day.
True.
Any tips on how to deal with insomnia?
@violet swan talk to a doctor, depending on the severity they may prescribe you some medicine
try to be as relaxed as possible before sleeping.
Word
@violet swan , @violet swan melatonin is good for insomnia and resetting sleep schedule , I use only 0.3 mg almost everyday with no problem.
ima have to pick some up at the store then
I don't recommend supplements actually
Like drug to reset sleep schedule
You have to fix the origin
Better to ask your doctor
As shye recommended
@violet swan The healthy way of fixing sleep schedule is actually force waking up early
Instead of staying up all day
Like the day you want to fix it
Immediately start fasting, so when you wake up you get hungry and essentially reset your bio rhythm, then when you wake up expose yourself to daylight, like actually go outside maybe on a walk even to get blood flowing
Make a morning routine, and create a habit out of it
That's the healthy way to do it
Not getting enough sleep puts you in sleep debt, you can't fix that in 1 day to compensate it will take a week or two to fix that, which is why your body will crave more sleep naturally
They have alarm clocks that mimic daylight
Instead of waking up to a buzzing sound
Will help your body wake up more naturally
honestly that would be pretty good wtff
Anybody here ever dirty bulked before? Ive tried to bulk so many times and it never works out. Considering a dirty bulk now
I need to do physical activity, I'm going to enter the gym with I'm 13, will it be good?
some people say u shouldn't lift heavy when you're young bc its bad for your growth but if you're safe you should be fine
someone will help me, I will not do anything without an instructor
I will do only what is necessary, without harming my health and growth
About my food, I will ask my instructor or nutritionist to give me a good food.
I've done a dirty bulk pretty much
just by eating a ton and getting fat while also lifting often
I wouldn't recommend it since cutting afterwards is pretty miserable
but I don't know what it's like to be someone who has trouble putting on weight
@violet swan 13 or 14 is a decent age to get started
you can build a good foundation at that age even if you're not lifting super heavy
good time to get started on cardio and endurance too
day 1 on blueberries
I am going to try to get more sleep
and now I have a gym membership
are these good first steps?
@worthy cloud yeah im worried about that :/
yes good first steps @grave temple
This is kind of unrelated, but I am starting to become a kovaaks main
I dont know why but I find it really fun
to just... aim
I'm 13
And I'm starting gym
I kinda lost my motivation for video games
Haven't played in days
I was like that
when I played brawlhalla
but now that I am in sparky + I have premier pro + I have photoshop + I have a new found love for FPS games, there are a lot of things I can do
so I am motivated again
Nice
I've heard people say that abs are 80% diet and cardio
Is that true?
If I just did 3 sets of plank a day
- cardio
Would that be good?
Arent abs just removing the fat around your belly
To reveal the muscle
Sounds hard to maintain

Also
Any difference between
Drinking water periodically and non periodically?
But the same amount
In total
Ye but really skinny people don't have abs
abs are made in the kitchen tbh
not the gym
core strength is needed to be in good shape though
Guys
I can't sleep before 2am, what should I do?
I think it's because I'm not tired, and I'm going to have to wait for my classes to come back
midday
or eleven am
I think when I go to the gym I’ll sleep faster
maybe 9am?
and sleep 11:00 or midnight
around 11pm it's good
I need to sleep normally
the min of 8 hours a day
if you force yourself to wake up earlier youll go to sleep earlier that day
ok
from then on you just make it a habit
Yeah if your underage
Then defo get someone to guide you
Don't want to injure yourself
ok sini
ok sini
sleep is important for anything you do
and most people wont notice the effects until they actually have a good sleep schedule
I have to eat 1.1k a day
mine like 2.3k : o
I have to eat 3300 a day
I have to eat 1.772
thicc kevin
im cutting off of 180p/350c/75f.. to lose 1.3lbs/wk.. woot woot
melatonin is good for resetting circadian rhythm if you've fallen off
^
the healthy way is doing it the way I described, relying on a supplement for doing it, especially when it happens a lot is just going to make you build tolerance for it
and like most medical drugs it comes with side effects
so I advice against it
if it doesn't happen often however it may be a nice 'quick fix', and easier to pull of
but that's why it's recommended to ask your doctor, because of side effects (people with sensitive stomach, seizures etc)
@oak orbit
so imagine if i get 9 hrs everyday
id be GM
ive got all my scores on under 7hrs sleep
pretty much
I'm not answering dumb question s
just imagine
me on 9hrs sleep
literally kosei
visualize it
right now
and think how insane ill be
Dud i would have 7h sleep lol
I dont know if exercise is really worth it when I cant play good due to insane muscle pain in my arms lol
it doesnt matter
Muscle pain from being sore??
yea
Lol
maybe 1/15 pros exercise
i didnt say it's a waste of time did I
i said it doesnt matter
to how good you perform
people who dig into that are literally braindead
how good you perform is based on how much you try to improve and how much time you put into it
time being 80% of improvement
yeah i said that the time you're wasting running could be putting it into videogames
was an argument to prove a point
not "EXERCISING IS WASTING TIME EVERYONE BECOME FAT"
rethink your words and read carefully before you type something
i could keep arguing but i really dont care
anyways the prime point is
exercise barely matters to in-game performance but staying healthy is optimal to YOURSELF
Health role when?
Sometimes you need to make compromises
Just saying, there is no reason that you shouldn't be able to work out for at least an hour without thinking that it's wasting time from playing your game
But I guess everyone here is a genius
yet you still think i said you're wasting your time when i used it as a counter argument to if you're improving by exercising you could also be improving by putting that time into playing
please
save me time on your "but i guess everyone here is a genius"
im genius @oak orbit
Smarter than most Ben
Don't think it's that deep either, just do it to work on your health not to increase performance in video games

It's proven that it helps your brain, but muscle soreness etc. like that can actually slow you down ofc. There's different types of trainings anyway
Most of the time soreness comes from pushing yourself hard enough
Not everyone needs to work out like that
Yeah true and also
Depends which area of the body you train
Pretty much common sense, tl dr just workout man
if you care about health
otherwise
well
gg
Gl
yeah hence why i said doesnt matter for videogames you gotta do it for yourself
wait
is vr exercise
cause tbh i stopped going to the gym when i got my vr lol
its more fun and at home
so ez play video games and be healthy
best game is thrill of the fight (boxing) burn like 80 calories in 10 mins
GG @gritty crest, you just advanced to level 12 !
Well, depends on how much exercise you are doing. I myself wouldn't stop going to the gym because you get VR.
^
you dont even have to go to gym either
to stay in shape
there is a ton you can do
Yeah.
Gym is fun though
honestly i wouldnt go to gym
if there wasnt one at my moms house
our building is older
so alot of old people live there
which means no one in gym
@nimble cipher Try to not have them at all
The more discipline you have the easier it becomes to resist
Obviously you can have it sometimes, but still keep it at a minimum
Correct
Start off with once a week
Gradually push it further back
You'll notice that sometimes, even after a week or two have gone by (depending on where you've reached in your progression, and how frequently your free meals are scheduled), you may want to go even further without eating a free meal, because you just don't feel like indulging
Discipline has, at that point, become more addictive than junk food
For me after not eating junk food for 2 years, it doesn't taste good and drains my energy
thanks
Gym is fun though :flex:
@worthy cloud yeah it's fun HA ye
I can't tell if im hungry or not. My stomach feels hungry but I had a banan, oatmeal, and some vegetables like an hourish ago
That happen to anyone else? like it isn't that I want something to eat for the taste, i just have the hungry feeling in my stomach, but i just ate
i mean, i feel hungry, but when i go to eat, half the time i just dont want to eat anymore
Here's a website that has a list of healthy snacks
Some aren't as healhy, but it could give you an idea
I prefer almond nuts or unsalted peanuts
I usually got a mixed one without salt
And then mix it with cottage cheese (quark), honey and banana slices
Yeah I got some almonds, gonna get some. Thank you :)))
btw pro tip if you have nuts like almonds put them in a cup or mug so you dont have to get your hands all nappy

almonds are the best
almonds are cracked
Almonds taste like shit to me
eggs, almonds, blueberrys are insane snacks
yes
arent frozen blueberries bad for stomach?
https://www.mensjournal.com/food-drink/frozen-blueberries-better-you-fresh/ first thing I found when googling frozen blueberries
Your Espeon is now level 63!
Ok new plan
Instead of eating less
I just eat way healthier
Because it's too hard for me to eat less
just gave a calorie deficit if you're going weight loss route
you can be eating better + more and still lose weight w less calorie intake
Eating less calorically dense foods will help
cucumbers
sf jello dense food
Your Charizard is now level 47!
celery
but figure out what your calorie maintenance level is.. can't figure out your body intake until you figure out your calorie maintenance level is. everyone is different, some can eat 2k calories, not lose/gain any weight, some can eat 3k calories not lose/gain any weight
ew
only the knuckle touching the mouse
nah fam
its superior
its 4 fingers fingertip grip with pinky rolled up on the side
looks even more wierd cuz im left handed
i sometimes feel really happy and start to like do random shit and type really fast and sometimes annoy people by doing random shit
and then sometimes feel suicidal and depressed and it switches almost instantly
whats up with that
Many, many, many things could be up with that
Look man, your mental health is monumentally important, and you need to treat it like it's your life, because quite frankly, that's exactly what it is. If you feel like your mood is shifting THAT extremely, don't wait another second, go see therapy
Potential causes are too many to count
Do you do drugs or smoke weed?
Or cigarettes?
Getting addicted to these things causes withdrawal symptoms. Anything that boosts your happy hormones artificially will subsequently lead to their relative depletion in the long run. It's why drugs aren't fucking cool or right in any scenario unless medically needed
The causes are endless, it could be something mild, or something severe. There's no real determining it from such an arbitrary standpoint
sounds a little bit like a bipolar depression .... and listen to Sari ! Seek help asap
I didn't when I first started noticing that I have issues and it's only gotten worse and I spiraled down into a heavy depression
so take care and seek help
Good very well be that
The sooner the actual diagnosis is made, or lack thereof, the better
Be persistent, it's your well-being on the line. Ain't no joke
Yea
My sister refuses to go to therapy
And it's just gotten worse for her
So make sure you do it
Also
Anyone think that a 6 minute mile is achievable for a 13 year old?
I wanna make that my goal
yes
I feel like 530 or 5 is not really possible for me yet
So I think I'll start with 6
13 years old, you're still developing
It's possible, but for many serious runners, it's normally around 4-6 minutes. An avid fitness enthusiast can do it in around 7 or 8
If you're gonna do it, you need to take a million precautions
Primarily for your health
Do. Your. Research
i ran a 5:50 mile when i was 11-12 (6th grade) so you can for sure do it if you work for it
That's nuts
What's insane though
Is the sub 2 hour marathon
Was like a 4:30 pace
For 2 hours
4:34
@oak orbit runs fast

But
I would like to take a break of gaming
But I dont know how long is good
Like 3 weeks? 3 months?
1 year?
with those numbers r u just taking a break or quitting lol
i would say as long as those days are meaningful to ur lifestyle then do it for whatever time period u want
like if u got nothing to do anymore to stimulate ur life u can just come back fresh
A week or so i guess
i feel like using heavier mice give me better control?
is this weird/abnormal?
like when i switched from my o- to s2 its so much easier to get smooth tracking
that's normal
whys the entire market pushing for lighter mice?
relative to how good ur mouse control is
so rather than using this mouse, i should try and get better control on light mice?
ye
Ye i guess common problem with lighter mouse is u grip them tightly for control just gotta keep playing to eliminate that problem
ive used it for like 2 months now
i think my control is fine
but its just slightly better on the s2
What sens r u on
just raised it
i dont know the cm yet
its .15 400dpi fn
i used to play 34 cm (.12 400)
No
I disagree with nevz
@wraith thunder
Take the break you feel is right. These things are too arbitrary to have a set, correct value. Think about it, the reason you're taking a break is probably because of some mental drainage or mental inclination to change some things up. The only correct duration will be the duration that will reverse the initial mindset that LED to this break, which is that "I need to stop gaming"
Dunno what's the difference
But, if you love and enjoy gaming, then making sure that you're taking the break for the right reasons is probably more important than how long it is. If you think gaming is not influencing your life negatively, and you just need a break to recover from burnout, then go for it
Well, if you stop for a month and come back, that's not really quitting
I've stopped for more than that and came back to gaming with an even better attitude, which made me more invested
I just said that as a joke
Well then, my bad
So ultimately, it's a balance, what you think you should be doing, and why. Ultimately, when you take that break, it's likely you'll reach a point where you feel "I'm ready to game again", that's probably a good sign to consider
Cheers for ur answers
Of course, take care of yourself, that's a priority
Over the last 3-4 weeks, my wrists have felt different, they dont hurt but i can feel some aches and soreness in my wrist and forearm. I find myself stretching my wrists because they are aching even if i havent played that entire day yet. I play probably about 40 hours a week consistently for the last 2 months
Are you tensing a lot
Easy way to find out is binding your shoot key to something else on your keyboard and then try to go for a topscore you would usually go for
Only then do you realize how much you were tensing before
it dosnt really hurt per say, its more that i can feel my wrists are sore
not while gaming
while just driving around, hanging out or at school ill notice a soreness or ache
Also if you play like 40 hours a week that's pretty much full-time, that may be pretty exhausting
it feels like a slight pinch right at the middle of my wrist sometimes too
Make sure you're drinking plenty of water, get enough vitamins from fruits and you exercise and stretch
what are injuries that could result from playing for 6-8 hours a day
May be worth hitting up physiotherapy, it's not per se the hours but the strain it puts on your wrist
Extensive hours of too much tension that's when you risk injury
what would put too much tension
If you check the pins there is a wrist, stretch & posture guide from Kastor which may be worth reading
just normal play
Helps with understanding most of these concepts and how to prevent getting injured
I mean you can tell if you put too much tension, when it's sore after playing
Exhaustion of the muscles or strain (strain comes with pain usually)
i only played overwatch for 45 minutes today, and that was 8 hours ago. I havent done anything for the last 7 hours and my wrists feel like i need to massage or stretch an ache away
what could cause that
Numerous things:
- improper posture
- too much tension
- playing too much under those conditions
- simply being exhausted, while not letting your muscle heal after being strained
You have to kind of figure out yourself, fix it and just let it rest man take a break it's not worth getting yourself injured - if the soreness doesn't go away even after you let it rest then hit up physiotherapist
And perhaps there is other people with the health role / knowledge that can provide advice besides me, but I think this is what I would do in your situation
how long should i rest for, i cant really stop since its for a college team.
Your college team doesn't have a physiotherapist?
What could cause that is just one extreme movement or some prolonged strain on your wrist
I do bodyweight calisthenics, a wrist heavy exercise. I noticed wild wrist pain for around a month. Taking a break from both calisthenics and aim training for around a week yielded a seemingly perfect recovery
Consult a physical therapist if it's been prominent for a while
Dial everything down a notch or two, and spend more time regularly stretching, and less time playing
no sugar , no fast food, only water, maybe coffee , rice , pasta etc and done
does blueberrys boost your vrt ?
@violet swan To me it does. I use blueberry extract and even the first time when I used it I saw a -5ms improvement. I use 1410mg daily for a month now I think. When I didn't use blueberry extract I had avg. 165ms reaction time. Now it's ranges from 150-155 ms. It's also good for your eyes in general, I noticed my eyes don't get really tired after looking at the monitor for a long time.
okay thanks
damn i think im gonna be only eating blueberries from now on
We can only speak from experience
But blueberries have flavonoids, which were found to improve reaction time by up to 9% in children, according to one study
@calm sleet has all the exp for good vrt
Your Ditto is now level 67!
120ms
can i read kastor's guide somewhere?
@shy owl everything in moderation is fine. A good eating lifestyle allows you to enjoy what you eat without overindulging. Good starter changes are
1- Cut artificial sugars to minimum amounts. Replace with fruit
2- Try to distribute your meals more evenly, instead of eating one or two bulk meals. This allows your blood to operate with much more consistent glucose (sugar) levels
3- Manage your caloric balance. If you aren't burning any calories, then being in a hyper caloric state (taking in more calories than your body needs) will gradually lead to weight increase. However, for your case as a beginner amateur, I advise against counting your calories obsessively, and simplifying the process by trying to eat a steady amount of carbohydrates and fats, instead of just stuffing your face
4- If you want to eat less, use smaller plates. Eat slower, savour the food. Your body needs a bit of time to process foods entering your stomach. As the stretch receptors in your stomach gradually detect food coming in, they will signal the body to induce satiety
i get 120ms clicks pretty often
Try to reduce anything obviously unhealthy. Keep your main sources of nutrition inclusive (make sure your meals have protein, carbohydrates, AND fats). However, every week or so, if you're serious about eating healthy, then of course give yourself a free meal to enjoy
Just don't overdo it
Or anything for that matter
but my avg is usually low 130s sadly
That's still very fast
id rather be faster
i wanna be able to get legit double digit clicks
maybe not average
but semi consistently
ykno
also i only go on hb like
once a week
single digit reactions
to try not cheese it
@loud plover thank you
ye ik but
Did you start at such a low time?
its funnier when an egirl has lower vrt than zeeq no?
not rly
started 150-160

Interesting, can you describe your general lifestyle?
maybe hes used to it
sari wdym
dang i got
like
baited
Hamster, I was asking purrs because he doesn't feel hunger. It's good to know someone's lifestyle to determine if abnormal eating is somehow related
I wake up at either 7:10 or 7:30 for school, go to classes, skip lunch bc not hungry and i'd rather play games, might eat a candy bar if they're there because they taste good (not eating because hungry and like 1 thing) and then I drink only lemonade because i have a lifetime supply in my dorm room
I do sports but I don't really try
and I go to bed between 12:00 and 2
CHUNKY
I don't think it's uncommon for people nowadays not to feel hunger, Hamster
I'm being deadass
Any medical history, Purrs?
nothing at all
i am hungry all the fucking time
i get hungry pretty often
yikes
