Because there's two different lines of thought. I personally think the best antiroller strafe is when you do a long strafe followed by a short, and then back into long in the same direction as the first long strafe.
Most people who are terrible will jam the stick when you short strafe and that's enough to break the bubble. But either way it really all comes down to each situation. If you have EHP advantage then it's probably better to mirror, anti mirror can be good otherwise. The only thing that's unanimous is throwing in a crouch usually kills you faster, and short strafes exclusively are bad.

it boiled down to novelty and AA operating in a mirror differently than most rollers are probably used to. if you're playing an actually good roller player, it negates the advantage and boils down to what conditions led you into the strafe making it a dps race you should be heavily favored to win.
outside of a 1v1 with previous knowledge, or watching someone loot (lol) i don't think i've ever noticed their model giving any tells of being controller anyway

Yeah, you're dealing with something that will have better reactivity than you so trying to avoid damage doesn't do much for you besides making it harder on you to react and aim yourself. It's better to just avoid a bias or rhythm and make things easier on you to push damage.
