AI can certainly be used for that too, I just feel like AI has more case usage for detection methods. Being able to compare it to databases worth of plays and information I think gives it the edge. Obviously that all depends on implementation and funding.
Preventative measures will always be best in the long run, which is why I think F2P games always suffer the worst.
