It's hard to feel rewarded by hard work when there's a lot of systems in Apex set in place to be intentionally frustrating though. I wouldn't use Apex as much of a benchmark honestly.

Matchmaking itself is designed to be frustrating to keep you playing, gradually handing you wins. It makes the wins feel less rewarding because you know you're frying people who aren't challenging you at all, and the losses feel defeating because you're getting pushed by navy seals.

Averages on your aim training and VOD reviewing your positioning and decision making is about as concrete as you can get.
