I'm putting in a lot of hours into apex lately and really struggling to feel like I'm improving at all.
Objectively my movement has improved and I've learned a lot more movement tech, better inventory management and using nades more etc.
My gamesense has also probably improved and understanding when we're gunna get 3rd partied and / or where teams are likely to rotate to/from and how many
But at the end of the day i still end up getting melted in the duels
routinely get triple stack masters and preds as champions in pubs, with lowest being plat
not complaining about this, but definitely don't feel like I'm good enough to be in the lobby

it might sound obvious but try to do more damage than you take whenever possible
if youre getting stuck in situations where youre shooting someone and theyre shooting back and you end up taking more damage in that encounter
try making the encounters smaller
peek them and shoot for smaller increments
albeit if you dont have a good team with you it probably wont change much because they can just heal up while their teammates take the heat for a second
but as far as single person encounters it should help
as for encountering preds/masters
every game i played yesterday in pubs had at least 4+ predator trails by time i dropped
and about 1/4th of those games i had decent teammates
if you focus on performing well individually eventually you will get teammates that might not be as good as you, but will be better than useless
the bigggest difference imo is when i get teammates that arent COMPLETELY useless
even if they cant take fights the same way i can it helps to not have them go down immidiately and delay a push

i generally try to bait the enemy by peeking and making them waste ammo but then i still take 35498230958235 hits from the bullets because of the low tickrate servers.
I think i need to do a practice where i focus on doing damage to enemies that aren't loooking at me, then repositioning when they start paying attention to me, rather than trying to take 1v1 fights where we're shooting each other

thats probably because of ping and not neccesarily a tickrate issue
which isnt something you can fix because its not always dependant on the ping YOU have to the server
also baiting enemies and trying to get them to waste ammo isnt really a good idea imo
it might work against bad players that will dump their mag the second they see someone peek
but most half decent players wont continue firing if they see you peek and go back behind cover
thats a big mistake i saw people making when i was on the 1v1 servers
they would focus so much on movement to reduce the amount of shots they took and try to get people to waste their ammo
but its straight up doesnt work if they just delay shooting or land their shots

playing apex won't make you improve your mechanics, the game is very slow and you almost never fight, the only movement technique you need is tap strafing, and dodge, which is a very underrated skill, if you wanna actually improve play r5 duels and FFA
