A lot of the times people are able to air dribble while simply holding air roll to make it look cooler. However, actually utilising the air roll to make fine adjustments in the air and get precise touches on the ball is an entirely different thing altogether

u need to threaten at least 2 or 3 plays from a postion to to be effecient, if u want a safe option u need a close 50 position, if not u need a controlled fast ball that can either be carried over a defender or u want a possible fake that could lead to a reset into wtvr u want, or a bump in most cases are very efficient

Consistency goes down the drain when you're holding air roll continuously and trying to carry the ball on your car cleanly without consistency. It's so much easier to slow down when you're carrying it in the air instead of getting touches on it. Besides, when you're carrying it, it's easier to change directions faster
