a small tip (that kinda stops being applicable once you get good enough) is to simply stop boosting before your first touch on the ball. So even if you're accelerating a good bit towards the ball before the first touch, as long as you stop boosting before the first touch, you can still follow it as an air dribble

Stare at the spot you want to touch the ball (probably 45 degrees between the equator and south pole of the ball) and kiss your car's nose to that spot

if you are flying past the ball above it, you're probably going too fast, whether it be from the wall or just boosting

Its all about initiation, When you make the initial jump towards the ball, dont have too much momentum, for example, if im going supersonic and THEN jump towards a ball in the sky, i most likely wont hit it due to my momentum during my initial jump already propelling me far forward, so instead, slow down a bit, THEN jump, (for just that example...)

In the case of going off the wall, Push the ball towards the wall, slow down a bit, then FOLLOW the ball that should already be on the wall, and as your about to HIT the ball to start the entire process, jump with it, dont jump after it.

Here is an example. I'm only champ 1, keep in mind. But notice that i didn't need to use much boost to get to the ball as my car's speed and direction are extremely similar to the ball. Then just before the first touch, I stop boosting. Probably the most important thing though, is that my car is NEVER at the same (or higher) vertical height as the ball. I am always under it, pushing it "up", from a 45 degree angle

I wouldn't have braked. A pro could brake there and recover perfectly, but if we're talking about just a basic air dribble then you could've/should've just continued your forward momentum and jumped

really mentally imagine you need to fight gravity and guide the ball forward. Ignore the net right now, if you can keep the ball high enough to hit backboard that's good too. Stare at the spot you need to touch

in an actual online game against defenders, a "good" air dribble is one that moves unexpectedly. Suddenly stopping the ball from falling, suddenly going far side into the net. hitting it into backboard to get a double touch. Don't worry so much about all of that. Focus on your car control.

You don't need to separate from the ball. You hitting the ball off the wall will give you that space but as you can see in my clip, I'm not trying to "make" any sort of gap between the ball and my car.

good. everything before the 2nd touch is good. Your first touch can be harder, keeping the ball in line with your car. But you can see you're hitting it both too light and too "forward", and not enough "up". You're quickly going up higher than the ball.
