because you’re above the halfway point of the ball you dont have an option to go higher meanwhile if you went underneath the ball you have the option to go higher and lower giving more control

if there’s a guy in net though you gotta hit the ball lower so you can change angle because if you’re above the ball you can only hit it downwards
