Your goal is to balance both of these, you want good offense and good defense.

now that you know that you also need to understand your playlist (2v2),

in 2v2 both you and your teammate have to play together unless its a 1v3.
How do you play together? rotations and positioning. When the play is on offense, whoever has possesion of the ball is first man, the goal of first man on offense is to break down defense (getting it past oponents) and it is also to set up plays for your teamate who is second man.

and on defense, whoever is closest to the ball and not back post is first man, first man on defense it to put preassure on the other teams first man so that you limit the plays they can make.

Remember this: First man = make oppurtunites for your teamate, lessen oppurtunities for the other team

second man = finish opportunities and be ready to be first man

here is another tip for this game

because rocket league is so different its hard to get good at this game.

people contrast rocket league with shooter games and say that in a shooter game its simple because to get better you have to aim your mouse and shoot at the other team. but in rocket league to do mechanics you have to do a lot more.

i compare rocket league with games like brawlhalla because when it comes to mechanics all you are doing is a combination of inputs at the right timing.

If you want to improve your mechanics you have to break each mechanic down into its raw steps and start from step one all the way to the last. and with enough repitition it will lock in your muscle memory and you will be doing mechanics with no problem

This game gets tilting and if you panic or rush yourself then you will make mistakes and get scored on.

1v1's are hard because if you make a mistake your most likley scored on.

so you need to focus on playing without mistakes and punish your oponent when they make a mistake

i adapt to my teamates and to the opponents. i dont repeat mechanics that work in last game i do mechanics that will work with what im playing against.

im usually watching the other team more than i am using mechanics.

and most of my goals come from team plays rather than solo,

mechanics shouldnt be used and then you kind of just pray that it works, mechanics should be used to execute what your thinking of in your head.

when your in high ranks there is a whole other game going on in everyones heads and you just have to learn how to read what they are trying to do on offense and defense so you can actually know what the most effective and best thing to do is

So the most important tip is to practice against better players or get someone to point out your mistakes

I'm diamond 3 60 hours It's honestly just game sense no mechs to be learned manly just defense, always play backfield or midfield never trust teammates ever. Let ur teammate play with the ball but be behind them because u will need to defend because ur teammates will mess up. Just wait for open shots for u to take and really take advantage of power shotting and hitting the ball hard don't try to be aggressive and make insanely risky plays because almost always your teammate is also over committing and not playing backfield
