I don't think you need to use directional air roll much.
Just little taps that gets you to a comfortable orientation.
U can be good aerialing without directional air roll and that will get you far.

Constantly at a high speed use the pass ball button and try to stay supersonic as much as possible whilst passing the ball to yourself at weird spots like on the wall and in the air many times. And your main goal is just to score a double touch
