You should aim to get used to directional air roll, but don’t just hold it down. It’s acceptable to just hold down directional air roll when learning it but try to not make it a habit, use directional air roll for efficiency only

You can work on just making small adjustments with air roll, and once you get that consistent you can hop in rings and try to hold it down for as long as possible just to master it, but don’t do that in an actual game.

with the basic aerial make sure that your doing quick aerials meaning your double tapping your jump button when you go for the ball, most of the aerial is positioning and ball prediction, you want to move where the ball is going to be and that just takes time to learn, sometimes you will over shoot other times you will under shoot it, its just a thing of practice, the best advice i can give you is just go goal to goal and you should be okay, so just focus ball predition, car position and dont try to make it look fancy, worry about just getting to the ball first and dont try to do something difficult to start out with

bind your directional air roll to a button, you then want to learn how to flip cancel, this is flipping in a direction and then instantly moving your left stick to the other direction, now that youve done those 2 things you just combine it, you want to hold your directional air roll button, front flip and then hold down on your left stick to cancel and boom you done it

its normal to get stuck the best thing you can do is to set a game limit for your self each day this will stop you from snowballing down and up all the time, if your teammates seem to be the issue just find someone who you are comfortable playing with, and if that doesnt work, make sure that your always getting back in time, remember speed is more important in most scenarios, its better to take a horrible 50 than it is to shadow and risk escorting them to your goal, also focus on demos, demos are a really powerful tool if used correctly
