all i can say is for now without any tutorial tips, is in comp you just boom with a good amount of space with the ball (like let it roll up a bit then boost into it) and if the ball goes far, dont go for it, if its too close try to flick it instead,

this gives the lowest amount of risk with possession if ur in 2v2 or 3v3, as for 1v1 i recommend watching a setup tutorial and get comfortable with it

when i was grinding in champ elo i spent equal time in freeplay and in game and i analyzed every play if you really wanna get better go do dribbling drills work on reading people and knowing when to flick just from sensing it youll understand when u get there
