just stop doing too much. all the time golds are going for balls which an ssl cannot even hit, and there is just no reason to hit it - passes to opponent or etc. just don't bother going for ball in the corner, and wait at the backpost. in gold the players often are missing or cannot create such a threatening shot, you can easily sit afk and not do much and they have a hard time scoring, it will be easy to save. that's how to rank up, if you want to improve then play freeplay for hundreds of hours and you will be good like everyone else who has.

give more thought to what you are doing and pay more attention to your opponents cars. a lot of times it devolves into brainlessly just trying to push the ball forwards. try to actually outplay and get it past your opponents, don't go if it's awkward or there is no threat. wait and defend properly from the backpost not creeping up or getting involved in corner shenanigans, keep the ball near you and either anticipate or notice the challenge not clearing/shooting it back to them. make sure you are able to score the open nets with shooting practice as there are tons that go missed.

you need to create space between yourself and the ball, match the speed and then hit it as low as you can on the wall (like where the curve ends and it turns transparent is optimal) then tap brake quickly to create more space, and boost towards it. make sure you are under the ball and hitting the underside. if you come off the wall ther same height as the ball or too close to it you did one of these steps rrong.

D1-D3 is not only ball chasing but when teammates/randoms are not playing as a team. For example: keeping possession, passing, driving the ball towards the closest teammate when you know you can’t make a certain play. Tm8’s in those matches will not do that unless they are your friends and giving callouts or have a lucky tm8 that knows what they should be doing. I was stuck in diamond for 8 seasons. More than any other rank. That was for me because it took a minute to understand what I could be doing differently.

I'm trying to beat nexto. My best against nexto is 2-5. Everytime I go for flicks (nexto style flicks) 11/12 times nexto will save them, even glued air dribbles 5/7 times nexto will save them. you don't spin to control the ball.
the only thing that matter's when trying to control a ball in the air is the force you are applying to the ball...
if you go straight to the ball and hit it head on, then you are applying to much force and the ball will go away from you.
if you are going away from the ball but you barely touch it from the edge,
then you are not applying enough force to control it and your car will slide past the ball.
spinning can help you orient your car to get this perfect skim touch but it's all about your momentum and the direction you are facing.
