@pliant timber Honestly man you really shouldn't worry about air dribbles if you're in Plat. Of course if you get good at it you're gonna have a major advanatage in plat but you should focus more on positioning and making meaningful contact with the ball right now among other things

I've been playing Rocket League KBM for about half a decade now, tried controller once, and couldn't play whatsoever. I peaked D2 in my 5 years of gameplay...I know...and I swear I reached my peak overall or something, because I am just not improving. My questions are: Should I or should I not switch to controller and laern controller to get better at the game, or continue KBM just to have fun with friends? And is the switch between the two worth it?

Feeling overwhelmed as a new player, where to go next?

I’m young and a new player (first few days). I’m not really good at hitting the ball at all and don’t really have the controls down. I’ve never played video games but saw that this one is pretty sporty and decided to try it out.

I’ve seen videos of pro highlights and it’s overwhelming to think about being at that level where I’m at. I open up free play which is calming but it feels like a blank canvas and I don’t know what brushes to use.

My wifi is honestly really inconsistent and can’t play online for the next few months. What is the best thing I can do for my improvement? So far I’ve been having the most fun playing seasons against AI. It’s low stress with no ranking factor.

Are you able to clip yourself doing the speedflip and the fast aerial? For a gold to be able to do that and still struggling, it's weird.
I would recommend practicing dribbling the ball on top of your car and start getting the hang of flicks for offense. As for defense, you can start practicing the basics of shadow defense

if you're able to do those things, even 50% of the time, you should be at diamond. You're most definitely doing mistakes such as overcommitting and missing the open nets

being able to speedflip on kickoff should be a goal 50% of the time for you, and the other 50% the ball goes over to the opponent's side anyway
