Adapt to ur tm8, use shadow defense, learn to power shot better, start trying to keep possesion of the ball instead of just booming it, flicks are really good in plat cause everybody all ins all the time and dont play shadow mostly even if u insta flick it u will beat one

It does make some stuff easier, half flips and if you go for a lot of air stuff, but really it isn't necessary especially if you aren't in the air all the time

I only have right binded for half flips and I go off right wall a lot

Then yes I suggest using it, the big bonus is there's no accidental turning right or left so when you have it under control you can make stuff aot cleaner

I would say the more advanced ur mechs get the more u benefit from doing directional air roll

There's a lot of input lag on switch and the frame rate isn't good. You really have to work extra hard to do some of the same stuff. If you can ever switch consoles I suggest you do if you want to really try to rank up

air roll has nothing to do with missing unless the ball is going through your wheels or smth.
if you don't wanna miss a goal-height aerial in a training pack for example,
go to settings then slow down game speed so you can focus on the movement itself and make sure everything is perfectly timed

your car will keep moving forward and the ball will go up.
so YES
match the speed of the ball "before popping it up".
also if you are matching the speed of the ball but you hit the ball with the back side of your car's hitbox,
the ball will get pushed behind you.

try to keep your mass a bit under the ball and maybe towards the side if you want some turning.
this way your hitbox will skim the ball and get a softer first touch

Random tip for all players, PLEASE stop chasing/rotating back on ball side. Like great now I have to try and defend against 2 ppl pushing at me and one of them is supposed to be on my team

You can't block anything from behind and all it does is block your tm8 from being able to shoot or properly defend. The only time you really go back on ball side is if you know for sure you'll get the demo or a hard bump and mess them up

I get it, it's kind of rough because the player pool has shrunk so much compared to like 4 years ago. Run into more of the goldfish brains and ranking up there's less ppl filling in the mmr gaps. So the consistency is gone. They really need to stop basing everyone from gold to plat3 when they start and actually use all the ranks
