I’m high plat/low diamond, and would suggest you to use a speedflip tool you can get for bakkesmod to use in musty’s training pack, assuming you can use bakkesmod.
I can’t really say much about how you should practice it controls-wise as I learnt the 11 o’clock way and don’t know the difference with your method

tbh i just tend to flip straight into it to pop it up/left/right. if you want a proper flip on it you need the ball to be high and when you get the flip reset it pops the ball slightly up (i'm still figuring this out)

all you need to do is to press "backwards" so the back of your car touches the ball

that's all it takes for simple resets

this will isolate speed and turning and will make it easy for you to focus on your input timing

Try doing it without touching the breaks at all and if you can, don't use boost. Try and control it with just the throttle and then once you're comfortable that way, add some boost and speed. Also I found using the side of your car to get it on the roof helped me starting out.

I never touch brakes. I can do it less consistently in a straight line without boost. I can control without boost but not always setup on the nose of the car.

Don't know if this'll help, but if you try to keep your car about half way inside the circle under the ball, that should keep it on your hood.

the thing is I learnt to have the ball on top of me but then it bounces a lot and sparks leaving me with very little control and no setup for flicks

so if I put it infront of me I always end up underneath it or behind it

If it's bouncing like that it all pretty much comes down to throttle and boost control, you wanna try and match the speed of the ball and minimize the bouncing. That's about as much as I can personally say honestly it just kinda comes down to how much and how long you train the mechanic.

Well pretty much if the ball is too far in the front of your car, it'll speed up, and if it's too far to the back of your car, it'll slow down. So you can use that to your advantage when you're correcting. But yes mostly it's just muscle memory for the throttle and getting used to how the ball behaves when it's on the roof of your car.

but for the end of the dribble (before jumping for the flick),
have the ball the same if not a bit more forward because you are boosting through it instead of gently pushing it forward

if you wanna practice turning,
don't spawn the ball facing the net then turn back and forth
try spawning it facing somewhere between corner boost and the post then steadily turn towards the net and flick it top corner before you get close to net or as you cross the middle of the field (just as a reference)

and YES you have to experiment with different things yourself not just to find answers for your questions but also to get better feel and muscle memory which is the most important
