yeah, you need to work on ball placement and not panic much. The mechanics you need are powershots most of the time, maybe some fake direction changes. For game sense you need backpost rotation, avoid double commits and dont let them shoot the ball from up close

I highly recommend doing this big tip. If you are right handed swap everything over.

So your right joystick will be what you move your car with and have everything you have that’s on the right side pad and swap it to your pad

If you’re so weak on your left side then it’s going to take you a lot longer to get the mechanics down pat. Like for me example, I struggle to speed flip because I’m using my left joystick, and it’s always harder then if I had just swapped over.

The controller set up naturally is more for a left hander in rl which is very strange but I can highlight why mostly your car control is for a left hander.
