its just that its situational. i havent seen your gameplay so i dont know exactly what you might need to work on. if i were to give some generic advice, it would be:
- look up shooting training packs and practice getting consistent power and accuracy in your shots. this will make all your shots harder to defend over time.
- look up coaching videos on yt where they talk about positioning. theres lots of free coaching content on there and some of them break down positioning into really helpful concepts so that you can be where you need to be when you need to be there to make effective plays. when i first learned about "play timing" and something like "not being too early to a position," that helped me immensely.
- try to learn something new if youre comfortable. youve played the game for 2 years, do you have decent ball control? can you dribble or flick? can you fast aerial/wave dash? dont try to do all this stuff at once if its too much, but im just giving you options since youve been playing for a while
overall, if you just keep practicing to become a consistently effective player, you will eventually rank up. you need to be willing to admit your weaknesses, because if you dont, you cant work on them and you wont improve.

honestly i wish 3s was the main standard, since every "high level player" just bails out cowardly to play in ranked 6mans scrims rather than duking it out in 3s using the ingame ranked system, so everyone just plays 2s as a main metric now

because people don't take it seriously due to lobbying in the form of 6mans is legal
even RLCS is played in private matches set up by organizers rather than with an ingame system built in
the problem is that 6mans is allowed in the first place, making 3v3 a less played gamemode than 2v2

because in the tight moments the 50's knowledge, rotation speed, dribbling skills are much more appreciated than in 2v2 with more space and time
it's not crowded, the same way futsal is not overcrowded
it is enough as it is
it's harder to create time for yourself to wall setup, dribble, flick or anything in 3v3 because everyone is always active
which makes 3s the heart of rocket league
because you need to be at your best to make that difference
in 2v2 you can get away with long wall setups and airdribbles sometimes
in 3v3 you get locked down very fast, so you need to be a better player to make that magic
unstoppable force meets immovable object, in 3v3 you obviously won't have as many magic moments because everyone is going to be trying to prevent that
so you can call it "dead" but it's more disciplined
just like in football some matches are "boring" or "dead" because of the same thing but it shows the level of the players
they dont play 3v3 ranked because the community lobbying is a legal move, making 3v3 ranked underrated
if rocket league didn't allow for this, it would be a terrible move for the regular audience trying to 3v3, but it would fix the problem of pros lobbying in 6mans on discords.

Seriously though, it's so annoying! I get the worst teammates ever! If we are down by 2 or 3 goals then they'll vote to concede/forfeit, and if we don't all agree on it, they will either barely try, they won't try at all, they'll match throw, or they will disconnect themselves due to idleness
(Which thankfully, Phsyonix fixed that by making that ban people too.)

i learned mechs to get out of plat, but flicks and powershots should do the trick

also your prob gonna need mechs in the future so id learn some i mean its possible to get to ssl without mechs but its alot harder than with mechs

Always nice to get some mechanics down, but at the end of the day, it’s whoever scores the most goals. So consistency is key here, like missing less open nets, etc.
Everyone is different though, I can look at a replay if you want later today.

@strong compass honestly just play the game more and watch some youtube basics on rotation etc. and you can get to plat in no time. (Plus use freeplay)
