There are freestylers like (specific) impulse, faith, gappled, temple, henko, evample, sudo, nevee, etc on kbm and a number of pros/semi-pros as well like Yukeo, Torsos, 2Fast, Volterohh, Drufinho, etc. Kbm isn't gonna hold you back. Just use whatever feels comfortable to you. Drufinho was top 8 at the last winter major, top 8 worlds, and SAM mvp

@half bay I just jumped on and read all your messages. At plat 1 I really don't think you should be focusing on air dribbles. At plat 1 you need to be focusing on much more simple and basic things. Also I see that you said you don't have a controller yet, if you are planning on getting one to play and switching to it, the majority of your muscle memory for these advanced moves you're trying to learn is going to be lost

DAR gives you freedom in the air because you can air steer while air rolling.
normal air roll limits you as a kbm player because you can't air steer while air rolling.
defenitely recommend unbinding normal air roll and binding both DARs

This is my most infuriating pet peeve with how people play in rocket league: At 2s In kick offs my teammate often goes for the right or left boost instead of following me and trying to get the follow up free shot after the 50/50, this is especially bad when the opposing teams allows follows their teammate at kick off.

Last game we lost 3 goals in a row from that exact same scenario and my team mate didnt adjust once, its so common and tilts me so hard, does anyone argue its ok going for the side boosts in 2s?

My opinion is: focus on mastering basic mechanics like half flips for quick recoveries, prioritize defensive positioning and rotations, improve your game sense by knowing where the ball is and making consistent plays, practice power clears and fast aerials, and be mindful of not overcommitting to offensive plays when you might be better off defending the goal; essentially, focus on solid fundamentals and consistent play rather than risky, flashy moves.

@gray wolf @glass dome When going for 1 reset I find that it’s easier and often more competitively viable to air dribble the ball for a couple touches first, then get the reset and shoot. This is because if someone is monkey challenging off of wall or ceiling you don’t always have the time to get the reset and recover aerially to position for a good shot. You can tap/air dribble it lightly past the first man, then get a reset. If you do this, by the time you get the reset you’re often in a great position to immediately use it for a shot.

Now if you’re going for multiple resets, you virtually always want to get one immediately and go on from there. But for 1 reset, try getting a light touch or two after you set it up into the air off the wall before you go for the reset - will feel far less awkward!
