If you're really interested in putting in effort, try looking up some general "guides" on youtube which sum up what is required to know to start ranking up. That would be a good base for understanding what this game is about. You could also take a look around at prejump.com -> It has tons of training packs with a good amount having vids to show u what the point of the pack is

Rewatch your replays if you feel stuck and/or slow. When you rewatch your replays, watch from your tm8(s)'s perspective to see what you might be doing wrong as a teammate

continue to play and build car control. Specifically start working on learning shadow defense, back post rotation as well as increasing your accuracy and comfort with powershots. Working on getting power on basic aerials is good as well as being comfortable utilizing recovery mechanics (wave dashes, half flips, air roll to land on wheels, etc) in game. learning to path through boost pads and being able to comfortably control the ball on the ground are also good points to work on!

no, if that was all you needed to learn you would be higher than plat 1. shooting and control are 100% what I'd recommend as your first priority at that rank but there is also a understanding of positioning (rotations, when to challenge, when to fake, where everyone is on field, etc) to learn as well and decision-making. having the ability to be fast is great, but it is only helpful if you know where to be and can use your car well enough to make use of your positioning
