I don't know how current D1s are playing, but I hit D1 by just driving around hitting the ball up the field when I was under pressure and dribbling when the opponents gave me space.

I also only just tipped into Diamond, I think I was in and out of P3/D1 for a while before I took my break.

Smurfing is a difficult issue to solve. I've tried working with a friend of mine who's a game dev and its ridiculously hard, cause you have to balance it to somewhere where people want to grind to be able to play comp but where its also too long to wait to be able to smurf
