Keep practicing hitting the ball with power and accuracy, learn how to rotate and make it easier for your teammate to play, learn boost management and dont boost while supersonic, wave dash off walls for quicker rotation, focus on recoveries after you aerial, look for bumps or demos on rotations back

To put into perspective what @cyan sage is saying, booming the ball on net is good but don’t just give up possession for nothing. Make sure a touch is threatening and work on controlling the ball in order to create threatening chance when a boom clear or shot is not required. Boost management is great, as he said don’t boost after supersonic and utilize powerslide on landings to maintain momentum. Other recovery stuff such as boosting to the ground since you can build speed better on the ground, half flips, wave dashes, (speedflips are optional but are helpful) will improve speed. Learning to rotate consists of understanding what your teammate is doing as well as where you should be to make it hardest for your opponent to score. Work on Backpost rotations, spacing from teammate and learning when it’s best to give up on a play in order to not create a 1v2 situation due to a long rotation without boost and an unaware teammate

Also rotations and positioning will not only benefit consistency but allow you to play faster as well

If you want to focus on mechanics I’d suggest working on ground car control with catches, dribbles, and 45° flicks, defensive play (backwall clears, shadow defense, and awkward save packs), simple aerial consistency and power, and improving consistency with recovery mechanics before diving into things like air dribbles and flip resets

Make sure to rotate out after you've had your turn on the ball. It may seem as if you have less impact on your games, but the more you incorporate this into your games the more wins you will get. Rotating out after your play on the ball gives your teammate a chance to pass or center, and if he doesn't and loses the ball, you are in position and your teammate can rotate back post.

Step 1: learn air to ball control first and be decently skilled at air control

Setup most important thing , if u don’t know how to setup an Ariel off the wall I’d suggest you learn that before you learn air to ball control and then flip resets

Best advice is to start learning flip resets about champ range

Step 2: start practicing in training and starting setup from the half court line , make sure your setup hit is proper and makes the ball go as high as possible (not slamming into ceiling) at its peak arc is where you want to be getting your reset (aka the peak height the ball is going based off your first initial touch starting to go on its downward trend)

This is where you are MATCHING your car speed w/ the ball and being upside down . It is important you get all 4 wheels on the ball to get your reset but if you aren’t using octane and using a fennec like me you want to aim for the direct middle of the underside of your car to make contact

Last step: practice

(A good tip is once you get your flip don’t use your flip immediately , start going to arial control and use your flip to shoot or pass etc.)

There's no secret to training mechs, the only way to get more consistent at them is trying them over and over again. But at D1 I'm sure there's more in the way of game sense to learn too, so don't shut your mind out of possibilities there.
