Hey everyone, I just made it to level 10 and cant win a competitive game. Everybody I know has told me to just stop using keyboard and use a controller instead. However, I don't like controllers at all, no matter the game, and keyboards are what I've used most of my life for video games. Is there something else I can do to get better?

I was in the same situation when I started playing RL, and didn't own any controllers. I played about 330 hours on keyboard+mouse (kbm) and then tried a controller and decided to keep it. I think it's just more comfortable to play with a controller, also the analog sticks and triggers do give you more control in some situations compared to spamming keys. There are top level players on kbm so obviously it doesn't hold you back in overall skill, but that's getting less common and most PC players prefer using a controller.

yes if you win any games in any tournament you get tournament mmr and yea the hardest part of rumble is the tm8s. once you get higher in the ranks of snow day it gets really hard so not sure if thatd be the best idea unless youre good at it then go ahead

also try and follow something called the halfway line rule. isn't it in here earlier but i will copy and paste it below

The halfway line rule is for attacking. What it means is if you are second man, you have to treat the half way line as a questionnaire.
Ask yourself, why am I actually crossing this halfway line. If your answer is “in case the ball might go mid” then you do not know why you are actually crossing, you are hoping your crossing will help you. However if you see 1 opponent on defence, sat near post and your teammate looking like he’s about to take a shot and you choose to cross for the follow up then that is a good time to cross.

The reason we do this is to avoid the situations where you push up close and before the opponent touches the ball you are already turned around facing your net. If you are behind the halfway line, you are able to stay facing the play which will allow you to challenge the ball faster as well as reducing the chance of an overcommit

hi everyone, i am a diamond 2 and i want to take my game to the next step. I need to learn how to aerial. my problems are air control and air rolling. basically when i start floating and air rolling, no matter where i move the stick it just messes my car up and i cant control it no matter what. is it something in the settings? i use directional air roll. and, no, i'm not gonna do those stupid ring trainings because i have done 10000 of them and i haven't improved by a mile. it just wasted my time. i feel like i get better by playing casual games, but i just can't seem to air roll. here's the medal clip so that you guys could perhaps understand the problem. rings its self doesn't give u the ability to be able to stick to the ball. u need car control, if ur diamond ur not going to be able to air dribble forever, focus on learning how air roll works and know how to adjust ur car and then you have to understand how the ball is gonna fall and use ur car control to get it up. trust me enough rings will help u, it takes a LOT of time

try rotating more around the small pads then always focusing on big pads, this makes u stay more in rotation without leaving your mate alone, also try adapting to your mate, dont just blame your mate for everything rather look what u could do better in order to win, try and play more 1s this can also help u improve in 2s as u get in those situations a lot, also try and play less risky, u dont want to leave your mate too much in those 1v1 or 2v1 as they are prob not very good in it

For air dribble: most important thing with air dribbles is the set up, if u can do that right u can get good tries, in general take your time with the set up at first. 1. try to get already on the ground in a good line so u dont go crazy left right before touching the ball. 2. try to get the ball as high as possible without it touching the ceiling. 3. u want to toch the ball when it has that up-movement and above the corner, otherwise the ball either goes to straight up the wall or too far away. 4. try to get in a similar speed as the ball. 5. At first, AS SOON as u touch the ball jump, rlly as soon as u touch it. When u focus on all these steps u should be already be very close to the ball after the set up. Then u just need to air roll in a straight position and try out the dribbles. Also try doing it in freeplay. Training packs can be good but there the set up is done for u and u might be able to actually dribble then but cant use it in game as u dont know how to set up

I do , I work an accuracy with my speed , recoveries . Like even down to the point of not blaming my teammate and instead I’m every single situation saying what could I have done to change that , I’ve worked on everything , and i have friends that are gc and will run a 2s game with me and it’s a normal game win or lose.

Ok, well based on this I can kind of get a picture of your plat style. I think tbh a large problem for you is actually passing. 99% of people in champ 2 are not looking for passes and when they do it leads to so many overcommits and leads you to get scored on. I would suggest playing more conservative rather than aggressive. This also ties in with speed, if you are saying you are fast (which I don’t doubt) you might just be fast in the complete wrong spots. Playing fast isn’t about boosting or being supersonic 90% of the time it’s about making decisions instantly and sticking with it without hesitation. Maybe you need to slow down and actually think about why you are doing what you are doing rather than just going crazy and full speed mode

Also focusing on your awareness of other players on the pitch is a big thing for improvement, not many people in champ actually look at other people and decide to make a play based on where they are they just whack the ball

You only really need to be good at 5 things in the game to get GC:

1. Shooting accurately and quickly
2. Good level of dribbling and flicks
3. Solid rotation to backpost etc
4. Making decisions quickly
5. Learning fast aerial rather than just double jumping

Like I’m looking for advice that’s going to make a complete lack in the other teams game I’m not being cocky but I’m just stating statistical facts that can’t be shown through game I’m not looking to be a good c2 I am already that , I’m faster and more consistent than most c2s that I’ve seen , that goes for the offensive and defensive side of the ball , I’m looking for something about my compatibility with a teammate or something along them lines .
