i think its very complicated. i dont think its even necessarily a trust or insecurity issue when we all know how easily feelings can develop and fade. you generally have very similar criteria (besides appearance) when choosing to befriend/date someone, so if you do befriend someone you find attractive then naturally it can very easily develop into something that can harm your relationship. i can understand someone wanting to prevent that, but i also think its crazy to end solid friendships over something that could happen i dont think ill ever have an opinion on this topic lol
