today while i was gaming my pc randomly got a white screen on both monitors. i was listening to music which started to glitch when the white screen appeared. i didnt see anything, i couldnt see my cursor - i saw nothing, except white.
i turned my pc off by pressing the power button for a few secs, but it wouldnt really turn back on. when i opened the case (i cant directly look into my pc, i have a casual black office case) the cpu fan, case fan and the fan of the power supply (hope those are the right terms english is not my first language) were working tho. i noticed that when i started my pc the fan of the graphics card was working but stopped after a few seconds.
normally my keyboard and mouse instantly turn on when i turn on my pc, but they didnt. my monitors also stayed black.
when i turned the pc back off using the power button, it made a small unusual noise which it normally didnt make (see/hear in the video). it also turned off way quicker than usual.
does anyone know what this problem could be? im really not into pcs, a friend built it for me. i have no clue about certain terms or parts. but if someone could help me that would be really nice <3 even if someone could tell me if its a soft or hardware issue would help a lot

I think its a dead gpu
Something may have shorted
What cpu are you running?
And your GPU
Both, ask your friend
toaster pc parts basically
either i5 4590 or i5 4570
and gpu is a gtx 1050
but they were working well
not crazy high end games but the stuff i played was working well
Does your motherboard have an hdmi port
right now 😭 its 2am
okay wait
ill try everything u say.
Idk ill help you as best as i can before i sleep
tysm
If it does have one, plug your monitor in there and run off of the integrated graphics on the cpu
not hdmi but some other cable thing i use for one of the other monitors
should work the same
You might not have access to your dGPU however at least you can access your pc like this
wait ill try
...and I was just about to DAMN sleep when another mosquito came
At least I killed it first try
nope doesnt seem to work
what happens when you press the power button
it turns on
no no no my monitors are staying black
Days of vga
Anyway
I think the bottom-most cable is connected to the gpu if im not mistaken
yes
Ok so the main aim here is to get your monitor connected to the VGA port
dvi i dont have vga
i dont have a vga cable i have a dvi cable connected to my monitor and a hdmi cable on the other
Yeah the thing is that both are probably connected to the same gpu
yea they are
i just plugged the dvi into the motherboard and tried to start it but nothing changed
Nah keep it out
I am sure the gpu is dead
Plug the monitor into the dvi on the motherboard
Without the gpu connected
okay so
theres this cable going from the gpu to the motherboard
only plug that out
completely take it out
or
what
Nah remove the entire gpu from the slot
okay
And unplug the cables
okay
(going to the gpu)
have to unscrew it wait
np
look try it and tell me what happens
Im gonna have to sleep now since its 3am
good night
cya tomorrow
just came back into the chat to say that another mosquito woke me up and its now dead
Niceee
Now all you need to do is get that gpu diagnosed or replaced somehow
amazing
ill get a new one this one is fried
thank you SO much
youre an angel i thought my whole pc was fried
No problem bro, anytime
thank you! The fact that the pc would spin to life but monitors wouldn't work made it clear it was the gpu. It might be degraded gpu solder joints or some other failure
wanted to replace it anyway was just a matter of time
its my boyfriends old gpu
yeah the 1050 is... certainly old
now i have a reason to get a new one
i knowwww 😭😭
well
You probably cant play games on your pc until you get a new gpu however your pc will still work
I recommend installing some drivers for your integrated graphics in the meantime
Itll help you get the most out of it, hardware acceleration n stuff
i dont think ill need that ill be out of town till wednesday by then ill have a new one
ah okay
if its useful when i still have a "normal" gpu id definitely use some but not if its useless if i already got a new gpu by then
