Recently my ethernet connection seems to have failed with windows not recognizing the network. I've tried most of the solutions I've seen on support forums though none have worked.

Fixes Attempted
-Restarting
-Resetting ethernet device
-Network Reset
-Router restart
-Swapping router ports and cables being used
-Flushing DNS and TCP/IP

My wifi connection is fine and I've just been using it instead of ethernet for the time being. Unsure what further steps to take from now other then also uninstalling my vpn client and seeing if it has any effect.

What does your network adapters say in Device manager?

the Realtek controller should be the one handling ethernet, no issues detected with it

#

uninstalled proton and didn't change anything so still unsure what the issue could be

yeah thats the case

do you happen to have a laptop to test the cable with?

yes, i'll try that though i wrote off the cable since two cables that worked recently didn't end up working for it

#

tried swapping some things around and now it seems like its a case of two of my router's ports not giving a reliable connection

#

but that resolves the issue as is, i'll have to figure out the router issue some other time
