Okay so uhh. I don't have a pc. And I don't have windows. I have a redmi tablet that i do my work and studies on. I got a bluetooth mouse and keyboard but i need to work on projects. Desperately i need apps like word, powerpoint etc. theres another problem. Microsoft offers people on windows their apps for free. But for people on different brands. well you have to pay. Im trying to figure out if theres a possible way if i can get powerpoint without paying by a simple answer and im not begging by the way im new to the server and i desperately need an app to edit and make presentations on. And powerpoint/word are my only hopes because of their easy use and good functionality.
So if somebody can answer me maybe give me the answer cause i currently need an app for my project.
#I need an answer please for my studies.(*Redmi Pad SE*)

microsoft office for android only asks you for money if its running on a screen larger than 10 inches. if you can use split screen or multi window mode to launch the app in a smaller, phone sized window - that'll do. also, could try microsoft 365 (its in the browser) or google docs (free, native to android).
or go wild and install a linux container with libreoffice
Collaborate for free with online versions of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and OneNote. Save documents, workbooks, and presentations online, in OneDrive. Share them with others and work together at the same time.
your place of study (university/high school) usually offers Microsoft Office / Microsoft 365 for free to students, check with them first
sometimes they also offer chromebooks, which aren't compatible with microsoft office, but if they do offer chromebooks, they're gonna be fine with google docs
you can also just use Google Docs or Google Slides for making stuff, you can even export to .docx or .pptx if needed (but be mindful of the difference in formats, things might not look 100% the same). best to export / print as PDF
Okay so uh at school
we dont get those offered
and we dont get any thing for free
but
my tablet does not have the ability to connect to a projector
so i have to use usb
i have an adaptor
but there's a problem
you see the teachers
they use PowerPoint
so i cant use google docs or anything
||launching in split screen is actually really funny way to work around the limitations||
thats why im trying to find something to get ppt for free
you can export to PowerPoint
I dont really know if i can do that
would be uncomfortable
I need to save it though
I assume you need to present on a teacher's computer, and that's why you're concerned about them using PowerPoint?
google docs let you export as pptx, dont they
ya they do
Yeah
Theres a problem
idk how to use that
from my childhood i was used to using ppt
in computer class
Access Google Slides with a personal Google account or Google Workspace account (for business use).
I do have google apps though
its really close to old ms office
oh
alright
im gonna remind yall soon and tell you guys how it goes
imma try both the suggestions
at least the web version is
the android one is meh, but its not like its unusable, just a slight learning curve
You can just export as a PDF, open that on their computer (in web browser or Adobe pdf reader or whatever) and preset in full screen
it won't have any of the fancy animations, but you can scroll slide by slide
yeah, my university teachers do that all the time
I advise you, if possible, to export a .pptx and a .pdf from a google slide, and test both on the teachers computer.
if they have internet, you can just open the google slide directly
but I would advise you to use a PDF, less things can go wrong
okay so i tried and i think i narrowed it down to 2 apps
• onedrive
• google slides
idk which one to pick tbh as both are good and free
test out some common workflows, like writing text or adding a picture
i forgot to add the office.com site
mainly though
im cooked
i have the project in 1 day (i have only tmrw left) and i still dont have an app to begin
Im gonna go try these apps real quick before going to sleep its late rn
ty guys for the help though!
Im gonna let yall know tomorrow
Only Office is a free alternative to ms office, though only copies the three main apps (plus a pdf editor), it's usually enough for most peoples needs.
Libre Office houses a much larger suite of apps (including a pdf editor) but may have less feature parity with ms office.
we're talking about an android tablet here
to be fair it is possible to install a linux container onto it, like explained here: https://github.com/wahasa/Debian
but why
Sorry I rushed through the message, only office is also released in android, but whatever office suite you get you will be severely restricted in terms of what you can do.
hey guys i have some answers to yall
so i tried the site office com
and apparently
You get apps free from ms there
so i added it to my home screen and thats a way to get ms ppt free
but its kinda uncomfy
so i went to ms.cloud
and i added powerpoint site to my homescreen
so i have ppt and that in the uncomfortable way of use
And i have google slides.
I'd like to know y'all's opinion and which is better
depends on your personal preferences really
Get a PC or laptop. Someones gotta say it, doing any office work on android/ios is an absolute pain and is lacking so many features.
i did send a guide about installing desktop linux in Termux
you could install LibreOffice on that, its mostly feature complete to regular office
Please god no, just get a desktop
anything goes if money is a concern
not to say you cant get a usable windows device for $30, but that still has a very low chance of happening

brotha, I can't get a laptop cause I live in a poor country whereas I received this tablet as a gift from people. I cannot just say i wanna sell a gift they spent money on
Note:
I have a tablet with a mouse and keyboard so its not a pain actually i just need the app to work my presentations on.
to be fair it is possible to install a linux container onto it, like explained here: https://github.com/wahasa/Debian
but why
how much RAM is needed for this to be a good experience?
OP's tablet has 4, 6 or 8 GB
i've ran debian in a container on a 512mb ram device, but for a full fledged office suite and an entire instance of Android in the background at least 6 is recommended
