I use Virgin media and my Ethernet is capped to 100 MB/s but the contract is minimum of 250 MB I have a Killer E2400 Gigabit Ethernet adapter, the cable I have is a cat 6, I have changed the cable and no difference. The max speed for my Speed and Duplex is only 100MB, but my router allows more than 100 MB/s
#Ethernet capped to 100MB/s **PLEASE HELP**

Check for driver updates
Go to Windows updates and check for new updates and if you see a driver update related to your ethernet controller install it
does the 1 Gbit/s work on other devices?
does the 1 Gbit option appear in the third image if you unplug the cable?
also try restarting your PC
I have the new drivers I have tried to manually update but its saying windows has the best atm
im gonna try that now and I have restarted my PC many times
no only 100MB
the one i have
what's EEE max support speed set at?
I have virgin media
in this
what
what do you mean?
Can you explain in more detail
ok so you don't have it, disable energy efficient ethernet
it is by defualt
is this fine?
tell me what otherstuff I can do if yk please
hmm
is the device you connected to limiting the speed to 100mbps on the port itself?
basically is the router forcing a non-gigabit connection?
oh

I have 300MB connection and didn't noticed any limitation until today after I formatted my PC and reinstalled Windows 10, the speed was capped at 100MB afterwards (downloading at 11MB/s maximum). I thought it could be something related to drivers so I formatted again and manually installed the...
auto negotation should be the default setup
then go back to the network adapter properties
check the speed of the CONNECTION via adapter
RealSpeed combines a traditional browser-based speed test with a new kind of speed test embedded within compatible routers.
so your issue is fixed
no bcs my router speed is 385 and im 90
disconnect the cable, and reconnect it AFTER, setting the adapter to auto negotiate
also check the speed of the cable's rating
Cat6
well that should be compatible with gigabit then
soo
just reconnect and reselect the settings
Idk if this is a bad cable or something
idk there is NO change
hmmmm
update the driver maybe from dell's site?
i have
from the Killer intellegence suite
did you check killer for prioritziation or speed cap?
does the router support prioritzation?
my mobo is MSI z70a ack gaming
idk
i got a feeling that its from my lan port on my mobo

Hello everyone!
The Issue
Yesterday I installed a switch between one of my cable modem/router combo ethernet ports and my personal desktop. I also connected my work laptop to the switch. Prior to installing the switch, I had an ethernet cable running directly from my cable modem/router combo...
you have to turn off the PSU of your computer to let the NIC reset after shutdown according to another answer
ok im reading the thing
Soooo I just reset BIOS or new cable?
im really confused
turn off the PC via shutdown, and then hit the PSU switch to shut it down after setting the network adapter to auto negotiation.
or you could a good rated cable that has the quality neccesary
So i shutdown off the PSU from thy switch then i wait or do I straight away on the pc and change the Speed and Duplex
bcs at the moment its on auto negotiation
so do i change it now to smthing else?
do i unplug my cable, or do i just keep it plugged in
unplug it
lets do a full nice reset
so i just switch it on then change the duplex and put the cable in
do i need to wait before powering on
sorry about all the questions...
yes
push the powerbutton when the PSU is off to fully drain any excess energy in the capacitors
hold down for 10 seconds right?
well
I guess that would work too
you just want to get rid of any charge to turn on the motherboard
then I change it to auto negotitation
when the psu is off
you first
change it to auto negotiation
then turn off pc
then turn off psu
then drain charge via holding power button
disconnect the cable before PSU
once the pc is fully discharged
then turn on the PC
then plug it in and check
for 1 gb option?
I shall do so
imma do it now
ok @lethal frigate
i have done that
now what do i do
looks the same to me
so what do i do now? @lethal frigate
inspect the adapter speed
network connection speed
what
so
but my speed is slower
it does not show tho
not on the controller properties no
why
but on the ethernet status yes
because killer is dumb and will not give the ability to set 1 gigabit
you might need to try a better cable
or it's maybe the fact that the chip is terrible
whaat chip
the killer chip
this a good cable

this one
that works too
k
that being said
the issue with your network adapter is fixed
it just required a full power off including the psu to reset the auto negotiated value for the ethernet speed connection from 100mbps to a unselectable 1gigabit
check online on how to do it
