External hard drive not accessible

My friend just gave me an external hard drive, and it won't let me open it, and i get an error that says: E:\ is not accessible: incorrect function. I've looked on youtube and i can't find anything. Someone please help!

It's dead unfortunately, the only hope is that the enclosure/cable is bad; that way you can put it into another enclosure or desktop to see if reads at all.

thanks for letting me know! My friend told me he got it off AliExpress anyways so i didn't expect it to work, I just wanted to see if there was a fix.
