#I need help configuring explorer.exe with some permanent settings

I've uploaded an image. I'm currently looking for a solution on my Win 11 laptop, but I'd like to do this on my Win10 PC soon too.

Question 1:

How do I make it so that the "Dimensions" field is permanently visible? You can see name, date modified, type, and size. I have to go into the drop down from right clicking, then click select more options, then scroll to find dimensions (or any other field I'm interested in at the moment), and then click it. The worst part is, once I exit the file folder, this column is no longer present. I want some sort of permanent setting.

Question 2: (win 11 only)

In Windows 11, it organizes files within a folder with today, yesterday, a long time ago, etc. I hate this. I don't want things grouped by a day by default. When I sort by name for example, I want the entire contents of the file folder sorted by name, I don't want each sorting to take place within. See the second pic, censored screenshot, to get a sense of what I'm talking about

Question 3: (win 11 only)

I am sick and tired of right clicking in Windows explorer, having to scroll all the way to the bottom, and then select "show more options." I want it to show me the entire context menu by default, like it does in Windows 10. How do I do this?

Question one, you can apply a folder view to all other folders. Dimensions probably only applies to picture files, so what you could do is go to your top level of your pictures folder and set it how you like and then apply that change to all subfolders throughout the entire directory tree so that all picture folders have the dimensions column showing

It's kind of a pain in the ass to do it, but the process for doing it hasn't changed in 40 years so at least it's well documented. https://cmdrkeene.com/apply-folder-styles-to-all-subfolders/ Is a old video I made demonstrating it on Windows 8, but it's still the same. Everything from Windows NT in 1994 up to Windows 11 today

Have you ever wondered why different folders have different layouts in Windows, or how to apply your preferred layout to all folders?  Windows actually allows you to push a folder view down to…

For question number two, For the grouping by date, you can just right click in that downloads folder and choose to group by nothing. That grouping Is only turned on by default in the download folder so that it is a little bit easier to see when you downloaded files from the internet and find them, but you can use it in any folder. Or turn it off

And finally for question number three, there is a registry change you can set to make the old menu show by default. Although the new menu should have everything you could possibly need on it. Usually, the old menu is full of broken items that don't even work and duplicates for the same thing. It's such a mess. But if you like the old one there's definitely a registry switch that makes it always show that one first.

Regarding the new menu vs old menu, new menu doesn't have rename readily available (and yes I am aware of the F2 shortcut which I often use instead). Also some programs, like GIT, will install options like "git bash here." These aren't shown in the new menu.

I want to make the new menu work for me but it's been so frustrating. Let me implement steps 1 and 2 and get back to you

Thank you for #2. I will play around with more group by in the future. Can I have it applied in the downloads folder, but disabled in certain subfolders?

Rename is close to your pointer when you right click
