If that can't, you need a complete reinstall instead

civic bay
# pale karma well it did not work.

I wrote a guide about how here: https://cmdrkeene.com/how-to-really-reset-your-pc/

Or this discord chat maintains their own guide here:
https://msft.chat/wiki/installing-windows.html

The built-in reset and refresh options in Windows are not always ideal. Here’s how to get a proper and true clean start with a real fresh install on your PC.

If the easy 15 minute repair I sent didn't work, a reinstall is next

# civic bay Yes

well for me its a joke honestly. After regular updates that I have, for the past 3 years of just enjoying my life with PC. It broke microsoft store that much, that I have to reinstall FULL system probably. just how? I mean. Its just loading and loading, every app like XboxApp etc etc. Has been removed as I see. How that even happened after regular security update?

ik. but for me reinstalling the full system is the last thing that I want to do actually. I have so many programs and games installed right now. i dont even have the other disc to copy the most important files.

If you don't have a copy of those files backed up somewhere else they're going to eventually get destroyed anyway. Updates go wrong, hacks and malware happen, power surges or power outages can destroy data, accidents happen. Not to mention burglary, theft, fire, floods, tornadoes, and more. And even if none of that happens, the average hard drive fails after about 4.2 years, often with no warning. You need a backup at all times, not just when you're about to do a reinstall.

I personally just keep everything I really must never lose inside my \OneDrive folder so it's continuously backed up at all times. Then even if my computer exploded in a fireball I would never lose an important file.

And that means that if my computer ever has a problem, I can also erase it without a worry about losing any files and without ever needing to spend time making a backup (plus waiting until you need it before making a backup means that opportunity may not happen and you'll lose everything anyway, which circles back to the first point I made above: have a backup of important things at all times.

Games and programs can install again in mere seconds each, but critical files you care about should already be backed up ahead of time, at all times.
