#please help me, I have had this error for 4 days

Btw windows 11 worked before all of this until I turned my pc off, turned it back on, played Minecraft for a bit until I froze and then poof, blue screen of death
Did you make the USB using the official USB media preparation tool?
From the Microsoft website? Yes
Do I need to download it somewhere else?
No, the official way is the best way for sure.
Some people have had to use a separate USB stick, have you tried two of them already?
Otherwise, the only other thing I can think of is that your bios has some incorrect settings, like secure boot is not on or it is set to legacy mode instead of Windows mode
Wait
Wait
Legacy mode?
@solar dock
I remember seeing something
To do with that
It said like
Legacy+Uefi
Yeah, you do not want to use legacy if you're using Windows.
And make sure secure boot is turned on while you're there
Is this supposed to be anything different?
I honestly have no idea what the CSM there means off hand
Right, when I put Uefi on
It says secure boot is enabled
So csm was the previous option selected so I’m assuming my secure boot was disabled
Is that all the options I need?
It probably was. Give it a try now
Alright
Fingers crossed
Shit I forgot to boot from usb
Alright
Let’s see if it works now
It’s still loading
@solar dock I don’t think it wants to load
That's really weird seems like everything is set well
I do have like 1 file that I used to update the bios on that usb if that effects anything?
I deleted it
Like just a manufacturer bios upgrade?
Hmm doubt that'd cause any issues really
Do you think there’s some settings in the bios that can be causing this?
I mean yesterday when I ran it, the windows icon came up and then went black and the loading symbol thing came up and just didn’t do anything
Nothing else that I can think of... Maybe see if your bios has a "load defaults" option and set it to that for a try
When I press that it says load optimised defaults, do I press yes?
Yeah, and afterward make sure that secure boot is still on and legacy mode still off. It probably will be but it's good to just make sure
Ok
I just ran the usb and it’s still the same loading screen
Yesterday when I ran the usb, the windows logo showed up but idk if I did anything for that to happen
Ok I just restored defaults and I was just about to restart and it showed me the changes that are being made
Why’s it mentioning crypto mining?
I reset defaults and now this happens
But I know for a fact it’s gonna be a black screen with loading symbol
Knew it
@solar dock ^^
This just doesn’t make any sense anymore
that's really weird. Which Windows version is prepared on the stick? Like was it windows 10 or windows 11 media tool?
Window 11 media took
And I had windows 11 installed on the pc aswell I just want to factory reset my pc
gotcha. honestly this should be so simple and fast, especially with secure boot on/legacy mode off.
have you already tried re-creating the USB or even using another stick? Do you have another PC where you can prepare one
still we've seen it where people try another USB and get instant success
This is a brand new one
I downloaded the files from my brothers computer
Off the website
Yeah, I get you. but it's not like impossible for it to still be the source of the trouble. I'd try creating it again or if at all possible using some other stick. I think your settings are perfect
That’s the thing, I don’t have another stick with the required space on it
All of them are Atleast 5gb sticks
any chance your brother has one? It only needs to be able to hold about 6 GB of data, most guides day 8 GB but that's not really the limit. If not though, try just preparing this one one more time, maybe it'll help
Should I try prepare it from my dad’s pc?
His pc is like rlly fast but my brothers is rlly slow
Don’t know if that makes a massive difference
But I can wipe the usb and try install it from my dads pc
can't hurt to try
Alright
the tool should do the wiping for you automatically
Ah ok
@solar dock hey I was downloading the media creation tool, it said I needed more space even though theres 32gb free 🤨🤨
I'm fearing your USB drive is faulty or one of those common scam drives honestly
@solar dock Alright after restarting my pc and re-downloading the media installation exe off Microsoft website, it worked, do these files look all good?
looks normal
Oh ok
Ok I’m trying again
@solar dock ye still isn’t working
Still an infinite loading screen
By any chance is there supposed to be a beep noise in startup?
not really "supposed" to be, honestly most newer systems don't
but it's not unheard of
Well I spammed delete key to open bios and I heard 3 beeps
I put csm back on and this is different
Now it’s probs an infinite black screen
I’m just gonna let that do that until I come back from eating see if anything has changed
You think I should try install windows 10?
Like downgrade?
Cuz I remember my dad did windows 10 instead of windows 11
it can't hurt to try
I might do that actually
windows 10 allows for secure boot both on or off also
Alright
I don’t think I might need to do any bios settings
Cuz I remember my dad just booted from the usb and it worked so
Alright installing windows 10 now onto my usb
@solar dock alright I have it downloaded, imma try it now
I think we r successful
Ye I think we r
❤️
Nvm it’s taking forever to load again
@solar dock right so I booted the usb on my dads computer and it works perfectly fine, the purple thing where you can install windows 10 pops up, but my pc doesn’t do that
it's almost certainly got to be a bios setting but I think you've already set themall perfect honestly
have you tried all the USB ports for any difference?
I have tried all 3 on the front, I tried 2 back ones on my pc
I plugged it into the usb 3.0 once again to try it out
I have the animated dots loading but nothing happens after that, it just loads forever @solar dock
I have seen stuff saying that the hdd is stopping it but I’m unsure
nah this should be possible even if the hard drive is unplugged honestly
which I guess would be a good test, but as long as USB is the first boot device it should start from it instead
Ye the usb is in first priority and is booting from it first because it shows up which one I want to install 32bit or 64bit because I did both, and I select 64bit, it loads the files but then the loading thing is infinite and won’t do anything
has me stumped
I get ya, usually this is like a 10 minute thing
I’m on another discord server and someone said that windows is giving a drive error?
i mean nothing about your hard drive should be able to stop the boot up from USB
like I said, even unplugging the hard drive would still let you boot from USB, which is really just booting from a different drive and bypassing the internal one entirely
Ye but if that worked, how would I be able to install it
honestly I would expect the issue you have isn't related and you'd see the same probem with the drive unplugged
I just don’t understand, it lets me select what setup I want to do, but it doesn’t do the setup
oh you're getting it to boot from USB? I thought it was failing before you even got to the 'install now' button
No, I can’t even get to that step
are you able to make it to the drive selection screen where you choose which partition or whatever there?
I don’t have access to my computer at all, only bios and boot menu
Here let me record a video and show u
That’s all that happens
So with Windows 10, the USB drive can be built to be used for secure boot UEFI systems and for older BIOS mode systems. The media tool will create the USB for whatever PC you're using by default, Maybe there's a mismatch between your dad's computer and yours. But you already had tried with secure boot off earlier and that didn't help. But I sure don't think your internal hard drive is causing this honestly
I sure wish I had any idea I'm stumped here
Am I like missing something, like you never know there could be a little error that has happened and can be fixed so easily
Like do I have something enabled/disable in my bios?
seems like you've checked all I know at this point
can't hurt. if you can do it from the "get help" app on another PC or from support.microsoft.com, although I have to imagine they would have mostly the same ideas
Alright
@solar dock ye they didn’t help whatsoever
Some random guy who just could not spell for the love of god tells me to go to my manufacture of my monitor and ask them?
That loading files....is slow comparatively...
You must have an issue with your usb drive...or the usb port!...
Ah
I personally suspect the USB drive but it works on the other PC just fine
Well it’s defo not the usb as it is brand new
I think
USB port might be
The thing
I tried all my usb ports
just because it's new doesn't always mean it doesn't have an issue, but I think success on the other PC proves it works really... so 🤔
Brand new doesnt mean it wont have any issue!....
So it shouldnt be ruled out... not yet!..
Try the back usb ports..
I have tried… all of them
Both front and back?...
Yes
I was looking at some Microsoft help articles
Some people have this issue
And HDD is mentioned in lots of them for some reason
Get another usb...
Disconnect any external devices..
Also you can unplug other drives too!.
and switch to uefi mode only
Wait, wdym by drives?
If you have more... than one storage!... just in case
Ok, I’m not so intelligent in components even tho I do gcse computing, I’m only good at coding, can you give me some examples of storages 🙂
While you say this...I dealt with similar issue today.....where the ssd wont allow windows install on laptop...
But same ssd works fine on desktop!...
You probably saw that one...
Your internal drive...like hdd or ssd or nvme
So am I required to remove a component?
would this block you from ever even seeing the install setup screen when booting from USB though?
buy/borrow a usb stick..make it uefi-bootable
remove any externally connected device...
use the usb ports..in the back
I remove my headphones and microphone if that helps
also change to uefi mode...
Internal drive issue....can freeze the spining dots...or stuck on setup is starting
But infinite loading...likely is a usb issue...either usb drive or the port..
I mean I explained it as infinite loading cuz my mind is clueless
The soinning dots r spinning
But they ain’t stopping
Or switching screens
But
Did you try with.. another usb stick?...
I know the usb is working because I can choose to use 32bit setup or 64bit setup
An r2d2 one 🙂
Huh?
My family arnt rlly stocked up on usbs
So I got one that my dad gave me that was laying around
But then that one was wierd
That was the brand new..one?
So I got a brand new one off Amazon and it arrived yesterday
No
I got the brand new one
But
The problem still did what it did
So both usbs didnt work?..
Nope
but they work on the other pc right?
if you can boot up that from the usb but not this PC it sure seemms like it's a BIOS setting to me
it should basically land here after loading usb
I want that to show on my monitor
But no luck for me obvs
Btw @obsidian stone I can’t access my desktop at all, all I can access is my bios and boot menu
Your windows is corrupted?...
Thats the error?..
Unmounted boot volume...its a drive issue...
Ok
Unplug your drive..physically...
Nope!..unplug all your internal drives... then boot from usb...and check..if it boots properly
First check if you can boot from usb...properly without your drive connected...
Ok
If your uefi has such option
I’m a 15 year old kid, with a £1000 pc, I might need a video or someone to walk me through what i am going to need to unplug
First check your bios...if you can disable drives...then you wont need to physically unplug!..
If not and if you cant confidently do it...take your fathers help..
I am not getting my father into this, he pisses me off cuz he doesn’t let me do it myself
I can do the bios thing now tho
Ok I’m in the bios
What am I looking for?
Sata configuration or something similar...
Anything catch your eye in that?
IO config?..
Also look for this..
System status, what do I need to do in this?
Are you able to click..those sata port entries?..
Whats the name?...
Sandisk SSD PLUS 100
Click integrated pheripherals...
Where’s that at
Your image I just mentioned..
Click sata mode...can you set to disable?...
Looks like...you have to physically unplug your sandisk!...
I usually dont persuade others on hardware matter..when they are not confident....
But Its usually easy...just open the side panel..and just carefully unplug the cables..from the drive..
Its requires screw...depending on the chasis
So if you think you can do it...then its up to you..
If you think you are gonna make a mess...take your fathers help!..
Do u think u can help me locate the ssd?
Thats how it usually looks like...
If its a glass panel...be ** very careful**..
Do it at own risk...
So dusty
Where would this be at?
Want me to send a side on picture so u can find it?
It could be on the other side...mounted like this...
THE other side...where the cables are going in..
Ye but wouldn’t it connect to the motherboard?
I think you will need your fathers help with this...
No need to proceed any further..and make an unwanted mess...
I’m not getting my dad
I need to learn how to do it myself
Let me find it myself off internet
I will come back to u
You have to open the other side panel as well...just like you did earlier...
It depends...in which case..you have to slowly open it..incase any wire is connected
Ok
Kinda scary
I unscrewed the toggle wheel things
I thing the side panel is liked clicked into something
So I have to like pull on it hard
Got it
Alright what am I looking at here theb
@obsidian stone
These wires are a mess
Okay...i dont see the drive here... What else do you see?..
I see something that says HDD/SSD
Wait I see SATA
and it has a wire plug coming out of it
Follow the cable..and check where it ended up...
Yep!.. Looks like it...thats the only one?
And there’s one next to it that says DATA
I meant you only see one..connected like this..and no other drives?
Carefully unplug.. both cables..
One is clipped..press and pull
The silver part one..in the image
Sata doesn’t wanna come out
Press the clip..and pull
So both unplugged?..
Yes
Yep!...just check if it boots to windows setup
Screenshot..
So now..you know where the problem is?..
Nothing you can do..from this pc...you will need to take it out and externally connect it to another pc...and wipe it..
Reminder...Wiping doesnt ensure.. it will work!...
Use diskpart command to clean the drive...or if your bios supports secure erase option...you can also try that!
Ye it has that
Wait
If that doesn’t work?
How do I externally connect it to another pc?
Hopefully...secure erase can fix it...if not..then you have a very slim chance...with diskpart..
You will need an external sata-to-usb enclosure..to connect it...externally!..
Yep!..Turn pc off...carefully put everything back together..
And do the secure erase in bios...
Ok
Best of luck!...
I will be going offline.....so inform us about your effort to fix it...
Sorry!.. have to go..but you can check YouTube on how to do that from bios..
Ok
Thabks
@obsidian stone so update, it erased some random thing in my pc cuz it said the SSD was not supported
Wait I might have done it
Ye nah it says it’s not supported
Ah I will deal with it tmw
Hey if your online, do I just wipe the sata?
@obsidian stone installed windows 10 on my other drives then I’m going to connect my main drive, wipe it on the secondary drive and then install windows 11 on my main drive and the wipe my secondary drive 🤷♂️
great idea!... hopefully no issue when you try to boot from the other drive when its connected internally!
So
I’m actually in the secondary drive rn and connect my primary drive
What happens if I restart my pc?
proceed...
Will it go to my primary or secondary drive and run from that
Cuz if it runs kf my ssd
Nothing will launch
Off*
you can set boot from the bios...
Ok now I’m pretty sure it’s gonna load forever
It’s taking much longer than when I unplugged my SSD
if it eventually...doesnt...then externally connecting it...is your only option!
But I don’t have the required cable
no other choice...
Is there a way to wipe the SSD with Ubuntu?
you can...but same for ubuntu too!...if you are able to boot while its connected
Ye that didn’t work, I have to disconnect it to use it
why not continue to use this other drive...till you buy/get the enclosure?
Ye but wouldn’t that do something to my main drive?
do something?...like what?
Idk, corrupt it cuz it’s been inactive for long?
welp!...your SSD needs wipe ASAP...but not that soon...
Why asap?
probably not the suitable word...haha!.. but it needs wiping...but it still doesnt ensure...it will fix the problem
why?...
dont reset pc...
Why not?
what does reset have to ...do with your problem?
total unnecessary task.... never use reset under any circumstances...
reset causes more issues...than it fixes...
How
always clean install windows...via usb...
I’m only badically resetting my secondary drive
And that had nothing on it in the first place
again...resetting the second drive... wont help it recognize the main drive...its unrelated
anyways... I guess I have nothing else to add here... continue using your other drive...for windows...while you get the adapter to get it externally...
best of luck!... also clean install windows again ...since you used reset
What has it reset the thing? It was stuck on 99 percent
reset is still not a perfect solution...thats why we dont advise using reset ...
moreover...reset has nothing to do with your issue...running reset was completely pointless
Okie
