#Windows taskbar file explorer right click options not working
24 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
Hey there! Try opening the task manager, locate "File Explorer", right click on it and click restart.
My bad, I forgot to mention, file explorer works fine. Just the right click menu on taskbar doesn't work
when you right click on your taskbar, the menu doesn't show up?
No, check out the picture. When clicking the items on the list, it says item unavailable. and only option to delete, instead of opening.
oh, only file explorer is acting like that?
Exactly. strange huh
Then do what I provided you with.
yeah I know how to restart explorer. that's an issue I've had a long time, doesn't get fixed like that
have you tried doing it at least?
yup
sfc /scannow, run this in your cmd, make sure to run the cmd as administrator, this will check for the corrupted files from your file explorer.
which could lead to the items not found, in the menu.
alright trying that
by the way, the quick access shortcuts here open as expected
yeah I already know the problem, short cuts from the menu dont work
that's working because it's a different path, you're opening it manually ( directly ), not from file explorer --> games, for example.
sfc /scannow results
Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations.
hmm, weird, nothing corrupted
it has somethint to do with paths, either the file explorer is just completely not reading the paths, or the paths name is incorrect/invalid
but it's most likely the file explorer not reading the paths, since it's all the folders that aren't working, not just 1-2 folders.
also as I said clicking file explorer on that menu just does nothing, it even shows no message
cant help you with that I guess, try contacting microsoft support or wait for someone who has better experience than me in software.
ye seems like a difficult one, guess I'll have to deal with it I suppose
