Im trying to get windows installed on a VM, i have a product key id want to use but the vm specifically wants either an iso during setup or an installer disc. So how would i go about converting a product key into either of those options? all google shows is the media creation tool but from how i understood it that tool turns the windows on your machine into something that cna be installed, so if i used that id lose windows on my own machine

what i somewhat want to confirm first is is that true, does the iso file created by the media creation tool already "contain" my local machines version of windows
windows 10 or 11?
No, a iso is a raw disk image (well, mostly, read the iso9660 spec for more info on that, but most are ddable so exactly raw (ms refuses to use the hybrid iso hack for some reason lol)) but this just contians the insaller, its files, and the boot loader used by the system. the media creation tool is a glorified iso flasher, so its nothing special (its upgrade component is niceish tho) your key is put in durring install, and honestly I would not use one in a vm, because its too much to waste on a machine you expect to reset constantly
also, windows 10 auto redirects to the media creation tool download if your useragent is windows, while 11 dose not ????? but eithor way, it should be possiable to get a iso easilyt
i was on 10 and thank you
hey sorry just say this; ping me next time did you still need a download link?
because you can generate one just by faking your useragent
do you use firefox or chromium derivative?
nope i got it figured out and it seems to be working fine now
i use chrome
ok then if you already got a iso then I will not have to explain it; I was asking beacuse the instructions on how to change useragent is diffrent
heyo so my configuration when setting up vm is slightly wrong and i might need to switch vms, am i able to just reuse the key and have the current windows vm "deactivate"?
