When troubleshooting after enabling the ethernet network adapter it said i didnt have a valid IP configuration
Go to search > type in ncpa.cpl and hit enter > Select ethernet adapter then right click and properties > Select Internet protocol version 4 then hit properties > send a screenshot
Im using discord on my phone since i got no internet, are photos fine aswell? Also my pc language is german
Yes Phone photos are fine too.
Okay. now can you do the same for the wifi adapter and send a screenshot of that too?
I dont have a wifi adapter
Sorry, when saying that the wifi works i meant on my phone
Oh okay. On the bottom one. tick "Folgende DNS-Server" then type in "1.1.1.1" and in the bottom one type "1.0.0.1" then do a restart and take a look if internet is restored.
should look like this.
I guess i should reenable ethernet network?
yes
Thats odd, does it take time to activate? Because it stays on "deactivated"
it should activate instantly. Did you right click on it and select enable?
can you try restarting and checking if its still disabled?
Sure, ty
Oh now that u mention it, the pc doesnt really restart, its stuck in this screen
Was the same yesterday, had to do a cold start
is there a windows update pending in the background?
Not afaik, ill check
The dns settings are updated and the adapter enabled but it still doesnt work
So did it currently restart or did you have to do a cold start?
Cold start
okay can you go back to ncpa.cpl panel then select ethernet and right click and click on Status then send a photo
then click on details and send another picture.
.
are you able to access your router config settings through your phone? usually in settings and then LAN there would be the settings that should be assigned to the computer. We can manually assign them for now so you can run windows update and a couple commands to repair your pc not restarting and not detecting the ips correctly
You dont have to change anything in your router. just be able to see the IP's
If not what you can try is to right click the ethernet adapter > properties > then untick Internet protocol 6 and Client for microsoft Networks then click ok then try disabling and reenabling the adapter.
I have a router but i cant find its ip for the web configuration, i have a wlan repeater to which im connected via ethernet, which has a web config but the address isnt reachable from pc and on the phone i get a timeout
Can you try doing disabling the above? if that dosent work then you'll probably have to connect directly to the router once so you can write down the configuration. altho we could still try one thing but as you said restarting dosent work it may get you stuck.
Ill try that
Looks like it doesnt want me to do that xD
still stuck?
Yep
Alright. try to close it down then open command prompt as administrator and run the following command "sfc /scannow" without quotes.
after that command is done run the following ones in order aswell. Without quotes
"ipconfig /flushdns"
"ipconfig /registerdns"
"ipconfig /release"
"ipconfig /renew"
Im running it, also i was looking for the manual of the router but i couldnt find an ip for web config anywhere
alright. after all those commands are done running type this command in "shutdown /s /f /t 0" and run it. It should do a complete cold shutdown. Hopefully close enough to a restart.
Is renew supposed to take long?
Not really. leave it for about 2 minutes
Should i still run it?
Seems like the router or extender does not respond to the request of the computer to give it its Ip config.
You can still run it yes. altho it seems like the issue is the extender. Do you have another laptop or computer you can try to use and go into the extender's web config?
I think so, wait
Tried to connected via ethernet on my laptop, dont have internet either
And i cant connect to the web config
can you try to connect with the laptop to the main router and see if you get ethernet internet there?
Yes it works
can you open a command prompt on the laptop as administrator then type in "ipconfig /all" without quotes. then under the ethernet adapter write down the Ipv4 address, Subnet mask address and DHCP server.
Oh i found the web config for the router
can you find out the configuartions for the wifi extender?
Dont think so, it cant connect to it
Or if your router supports it we can also try adding your computer to Static DHCP
Should i still do that?
yes you can do that.
Oh i cant connect to the router with ethernet, its in the attic
Im connected via wifi
Ah. So you have access to the router. In the main page Under LAN can you see your Computer connected to the router?
Should be something like "DESKTOP-XXXXXX"
No but im connected to the extender with my pc (ethernet), not the router
Can you try resetting the Extender?
Yes
make sure to reset it by holding down its reset button with something thin.
It seems to work now, thanks alot
no worries. have a good day.
