I changed my user name in windows explorer, now i can't login to my account anymore

Hi there. I'm scared for my account because I have a lot of files on there.
Side note: Some pages are in german, i hope it can still be translated.

So, what I wanted to do is change my user name in the windows explorer. It was already changed in the user name from the accounts but it still remained the old one in the windows explorer.
So I followed this tutorial:

However, i think i skipped a part on here. I did "Change Account Name or User Name" but skipped a part of the "Change Profile Folder Name". I only did the thing in the registry editor.
After restarting and logging in, it gave me the screen that i can't login to my account. And it is often solved by logging off and logging in again. I did that several times but it didn't change anything, and this screen showed up everytime.

So i followed another tutorial:

For this, i needed to start my PC in safe mode, so i took this tutorial:

In the windows 10 tab, "from the sign-in screen", i followed this. And restarted in safe mode. Then i pressed 4 for safe mode. But it still remained the same. I also tried 5 but it didn't change anything either.

Then I looked in my windows explorer and it tells me there's my old AND my new user name in separate folders AND a folder called TEMP.

How can I make sure I don't delete anything and just make it work again? Also I only want my new user name to be the new one.

so like C:\users\<name> is what you changed in regedit but not on the device

Yes. The ProfileImagePath thingy. I changed that to a new name. But i didn't do that logoff thing in the cmd before.

I have my phone. I also have a laptop but not really available until Saturday

Oh hmm... but if i look into the windows explorer, it seems that i'm logged into the TEMP user. My old user name still has everything in it seems. And the folder for the new account is completely empty

i mean i also have a second user that i could theoretically use. but i'm not sure if that could corrupt it

Unter Windows kannst du generell auch über andere wege den Nutzer Umbennen. Seit Windows 7 kannst du es mit der Systemsteuerung und auch über die Befehlzeile

Wenn du aber ein Backup von deinen Dateien hast, dann mach dir da keine Sorge. Setze ansonsten deine Dateien in die Cloud oder so

Wenn es dinge wie Outlook Profile sind, dann musst du davon ein Backup machen und auch irgendwo hin tun wo jeder Zugriff hat über die NTFS ACL

You can use this: net user for showing and making changes. To get all Possibilities just run with /help argument liker net user /help

You need to change a Registry Key

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList

There find your Old Account Name, and change the path to the new one
