Windows 10 installed but the OS Activated by itself.

hi, this might be a weird question but
does anyone like experienced that windows activated a retail product key by itself on Windows 10 Home Single Language in a Laptop that originally comes with Windows 7 Home Premium OEM?

The product key doesn't have expiry date. It's permanently activated.

Guess this is OEM Activation via the firmware embedded key.

You can try comparing the product key with the embedded key (by entering the BIOS)

it doesn't have OEM key. only OEM Sticker on the back of the laptop

i can see some of them but it doesn't match that i found on the registry key

k imma try something like uninstalling the key then try to use troubleshoot option

to see if windows find any solution there

An OEM key sticks to the motherboard it's first entered in, even if there is a clean installation done afterwards, which is not the case with retail keys where you have to re enter them. And since microsoft made it so that windows 7 users can update to windows 10 without buying a new license, just like 10 to 11 upgrade, i would say it got an equivalent of 7 home premium

Thus why retail are so expensive
