My GPU won’t connect to my pc, it doesn’t register it even when it’s plugged into it and the fan is turning like normal. I don’t know what has happened, it was working perfectly fine on Saturday then just stopped on Sunday. I’ve been trying to fix it since Sunday afternoon and it’s now Tuesday.
#GPU connection issues

That’s what I’ve tried, I don’t know how to explain it so I hope pictures will do
Now the graphics card won’t even come up on device manager
Did you do anything before this started to happen?
No, I logged off on Saturday, went back on Sunday and it wasn’t working
Is this a PC or a laptop?
And you have integrated graphics or is it just broken?
I have the stuff saved if you need
I have an intergrated but it’s not strong enough for any games or anything. It can barely hold more than 4 tabs
CPU is an i5-2400 2nd gen
GPU is NVIDIA GeForce GT 1030
That CPU is practically old, and if you didn't do anything, something might have gone wrong with the CPU.
So you have the GPU?
HDMI cable is plugged into the graphics card or the motherboard?
It’s not a HDMI it’s one of the white ones with the screwy parts at both sides
The HDMI isn’t connecting to the tv
But the card
So the cable is in the card?
Yeah
Can you try re-plugging it into the motherboard?
Did that, friend who’s really good w pcs told me to unplug it then run the pc for 5 then turn off n plug it back in
It should use integrated CPU entirely.
Still didn’t work
I mean, re-plugging it into the motherboard and trying to update drivers, running games.
Sunday, me n my dad tried to move it down a slot but that did nothing either
Yeah, tried that :/
Now it’s not even coming up in Dev Manager
I think that either CPU or GPU is somehow broken already.
Ahhh both are gonna be a pain
Can you check if your GPU is visible anywhere in Device Manager?
I’ve tried to open it normally n I’ve tried to look in hidden connections or something n it’s in neither
That’s the first one
For both
Pc was a prebuilt one n I’ve only had it around 1 or 2(?) years
My guess would be that:
- GPU has broken
- CPU is now used for graphics but it doesn't have the proper drivers to work, or maybe there is a conflict with GPU drivers for graphics
However, I'm not an expert.
Any ideas on how I can check that I haven’t tried already?
Have you tried using drivers from official Intel website:
https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/products/sku/52207/intel-core-i52400-processor-6m-cache-up-to-3-40-ghz/downloads.html
Neither of these drivers support Windows 10, but there is a chance that the newest driver may work (manufactured in 2015, for Windows 8.1, nearly before Windows 10 release).
I wouldn't like to experiment with PC that is not mine, so have you tried to find drivers manually for these devices with yellow triangles?
I meant this (I guess it will be in other language for you):
But basically the first option that comes after you right-click on the yellow triangle devices.
These devices exactly:
I’ve updated my CPU but the only ones that come up with yellow triangle is PCI simple communication controller n Video controller
Sure, did you try to install drivers for them too?
They’re both installed
So they are no longer showing any problems?
Or it says uninstall or disable
The first one wouldn’t let me install, the second one is
That’s the second one
Try again.
It came up with a ? In a circle when I clicked close
Try to install again.
I think that is the good idea.
I think I will have to go, however if that doesn't work, you can temporarily try to unplug the GPU, uninstall drivers for both (with yellow triangle), try finding drivers for both like previously, and maybe they will be recognized as CPU integrated, which would be the temporary solution for this issue.
I’ll try once I’ve checked the GPU again, gonna let it sit on for 5 then I’ll put it back in
Take care though n thanks a lot for trying to help
Sure, I guess you aren't plugging it on/off with the PC being on?
No no, I’m making sure the pc n battery are both off before I do anything like that
Okay, so have a nice day - I have to go.
