It's for Windows Subsystem for Linux. When you install a Linux distribution, Linux files can be accessed there
You have WSL installed?
yeah, he definitely has is installed. see i am also using it. all the things he mentioned (cant delete, path etc) is obvious
but the difference is he did'not installed anything under wsl like me
how did u delete it?
It require feature removal from appwiz.cpl
quit that visual code havn't you been going crazy over this for over a month
Ok I do have a Linux pane but never installed WSL, I did install it from store before but afterwards never use it and completely removed WSL and it's dependencies but Linux folder still exists for me
There is a registry tweak to remove it though "Microsoft Loved Linux"
Might be because of WSL store version but just to confirm
@maiden dove You had installed WSL from the store or in windows features before?
i had installed WSL from the store yes
its deleted now
im 100% sure
its no where
but this "Linux" isnt going anywhere
its just here to haunt me
well firstly from the apps and then the powershell
then found it again in my system32 folder
deleted it with all its files from there too
i couldnt delete it at first cause i didnt have full control over it
i then transferred the ownership and gave my user the full control
TrustedInstaller had the full control at first
can you check if it is unchecked or not. cz it should not happen if you removed it from here.
Ok it appears my theory is store version creates a CLSID on file explorer that puts a Linux pane which isn't cleaned up after uninstall
probably since Windows 10 was supported WSL store version it creates that CLSID since it was only supported for Windows 11
it also removed store version wsl bcz i installed it to along with this
you're a legend
it's fixed
ok buddy.
